One can climb onto the Remparts of the Cite and that's what we did. Beautiful views to enjoy from above.

If you’ve made the effort to visit Carcassonne, you should invest the few euros it costs to enter the château and better understand its history and its strategic significance. The views are also excellent, while the treasures to be found inside, especially the painted frescoes...More

We spent the money for the audio tour and enjoyed our 1-hour walk through the chateau. This is was a chateau built for defense and the tour is well laid out and explains the history of the chateau and the reasoning behind its unique construction....More

We visited with our 2 year old and were unsure about how suitable it would be. Really happy we decided to give it a go. We took our buggy but left it in the courtyard while we explored. Our toddler loved the stairs and passageways...More

We wished we had booked ahead as there is a slight discount, standard entry is €9 per person and audio €3 which is worthwhile to bring the history to life. Great views to be had and as you are exiting worth looking in on the...More

Adult admission costs 9 euros, it is advisable to arrive early not to wait long. The castle is beautiful, in excellent condition. When I walked into it, I felt I was living in another, magical time. Outside the castle there are horses carriages and you...More

Don't be tempted to miss this for the sake of a few euros. If anything, it should be your first port of call and it includes the Chateau, walks on the ramparts and a museum of beautiful architectural remnants and sculptures. It is however for...More

We pre-booked a ticket for our last day in Carcassonne. The visit is well worthwhile. As you enter you pass through a small cinema and you should certainly stop and watch. Here you get an amazing insight into the ancient and modern history of the...More

Although I understand this is mostly reconstructed, the information film in the castle cinema reports that the reconstruction has been based on detailed architectural analysis. Plenty of informative interpretation boards detailing the function of each area as you stroll through the castle, so not really...More

The castle and ramparts are a must do if visiting the Cite Carcassonne. This historic site was restored from the 1850's from a near ruin to its current stunning form. I purchased my ticket through the Tiqets app for less than €10 alowing you to...More

Hi. Picked up the audio guide at the booking office - it was part of the fee. We just picked up the ticket in the day but ‘skip the line’ might be a bit cheaper and would probably be better in June. Beware - it was very warm... More

Yes, you can but that may be a bit rushed. Depending on the season (high, low), it might be worth checking if you can purchase online the ticket to visit the chateau. If you have the chance, also visit Albi, now that is also... More
