The 4th arrondissement contains the Renaissance-era Paris City Hall. It also contains the Renaissance square of Place des Vosges, the overtly modern Pompidou Centre and the lively southern part of the medieval district of Le Marais, which today is...more
I know this area well so I just wander. But for new visitors get a walking tour that will show you the best and explain the history which is dense and fascinating. Lots of mansions and museums, lots of food and coffee.
Always lovely to walk in the 4th, admire beautiful architecture of the Hotel de Ville, Tour Saint-Jacques, stroll on the streets of Le Marais... The only thing that turns me off is the modern architecture of the Centre Georges Pompidou - it really does not...More

I think you will be all right in this neighborhood. I am sure you checked out the apartment etc. Paris is divided into arrondisements as you might know ~ if you get a map it will help you get around. You will be along the Seine River which is nice - fairly close to The Louve Museum and if you visit The Louve know that your admission ticket is good for all day - so you may leave (to catch your breath - rest (The Louve is overwhelming) And then return with the same ticket to check out another area you didn't get to on the first part of the day. I got a Visit Paris pass which was good for buses and the Metro - the public transportation is really good. Hope this info helps some. Paris is WONDERFUL - I traveled Solo and felt safe and would like to return one of these days. ~Yoga47Rae~
