We walked to the summit via the 4WD track which started at Pilot Beach. It was a pleasant walk with plenty of stops and spectacular view of the peninsular and township. We took the alternative track down which had more steps but was not steep...More

The climb to the summit is along a path that includes 576 stairs (if I counted correctly). There is an alternative route without stairs, but it is a longer distance. The view of the peninsula from the summit, 231 metres above sea level, is superb....More

One of the highest points in Tauranga, this is a must-do here. It's relatively easy compared to multi-day hiking - some stairs at the beginning and slopes up along the way but the views are worth the effort. It can be windy here because it's...More

Have mentioned where we stayed and Restaurants etc we visited all excellent. We didn't walk the summit track,if we were younger we would definately walk the track, have walked the base of the mount many times, well worth giving a go.

On a lovely day, wonderful views, occasional seals and generally very pleasant . Not too long ! Didn't fancy doing the uphill trail as we are relatively elderly !

Wow, couldn't believe how busy the mount is these days. Everyone was up early and walking the track. Good level of fitness required as it is quite steep walk in places but definitely rewarding with beautiful views.

Doesn't take as long as the signs suggest (does it ever?), well worth the walk, but take the right hand option as the views around the back are spectacular and you'd miss them if you took the shorter "through the bush" option on the town...More

Very busy these days, but worth the walk. Take water, great views. You can also walk around the track at the bottom of The Mount. All great scenery.

The steps were never ending (or so we thought). But we are so glad we persevered and made it to the top. The views are just breathtaking!! Then we found that there was another option of going up the Mount without climbing steps! Duh!!

There’s things to see all way up the mount! Different views and scenes. It can be a difficult hike but 100% worth the sweat!

Yes parking is limited and you would have to take a chance that something is available close by. If you do have to park further away the walk along the beach to the mount track is a nice appetizer. If you intend staying... More

You can try. But there is no allocated parking for the track itself. However, walking around Mt Maunganui is just beautiful, so even if you have to park 5 or ten minutes away you will still enjoy yourself.
