It is definitely worth going for this, the views are amazing, the air so clear and the mountains quite stunning. Pause at one of the viewing points to take in the majesty of nature

Well worth a visit and you get a sunning view from the pass. Could be some heavy traffic slowing you down. The view is better when driving in the direction of Cape Town

When you have ascended this massive 450m mountain in five quick minutes – spare some thought to those who not only made its construction possible but also the early traders who oxen would take a day to climb it and 20% of whose carts would...More

I went to Hermanus late Friday afternoon and because there were not much traffic I could actually see that the road surface is a bit rough. I came the same way on Monday morning and yes the road surface does take strain. On the whole...More

The pass offers beautiful views in both directions and there's nothing to be gained by scrambling to the top of the hill - the parking area makes for a quick photo stop. Just watch out for the baboons - don't leave your car doors or...More

The Sir Lowry's pass leads from Somerset West towards the Elgin Valley. There is a viewing point at the top, but I am unsure if it is safe to stop – so rather keep on driving. Keep to the speed limit and enjoy the views.

We had gone over Franschhoek Pass and I was shocked to see that the Theewaterskloof dam at it's foot was only a stream of water. There really is a drought. We checked the Villiersdorp side - it was "better". We then drove up Viljoen's Pass...More

Sir Lowr's pass is just outside of Somerset West and it is remarkable how the scenery is much greener on the other side (direction of Caledon). The pass is nice to drive from both sides, however I feel the vistas are better if you drive...More

Sir lowry’s Pass. The short cut from Somerset West driving to Hermanus. With spectacular view from the top out look. Overlooking Gordons Bay & Strand & Somerset west. Please how ever be careful of the baboons. These are wild & dangerous animals

When the air is clear, and wind not too strong this viewing site at the top of the pass offers absolutely breathtaking views of the Cape Flats, False Bay and Table Mountain. Well worth the stop.
