All reviews military highway water reservoir en route nice stop church inside the main road historic place worth seeing right bank high walls day trip small church spectacular place surrounding mountains preserved frescoes nice view well worth the visit
The main interest of this complex is the cascade. There is beautiful carving over the walls and extensive ensciption. Inside much of the original decoration has been destroyed by fire and whitewashed during the Soviet era. There are some more modern Russian icons.
Visited on a very wet day which meant the views were limited. The paths were quite slippy. You need head covering to enter the church. This attraction is busy with visitors. There are toilets in the carpark area which are not the best.
This is simply a photogenic place where the church stands in front of water. Note, it's not reservoir, it's river. It is linked to reservour, though. The church is beautiful with preserved frescoes. Outerior is beautiful, big cross especially. Church, fortress and water. One of...More

Built on the bank of Aragvi River the Ananuri Fortress is a beautiful place to visit. The interior of the church has wonderful preserved art. While we were there a woman was chanting which added greatly to the atmosphere.
It is located next to the highway, easy to arrive. The castle has been designed and built well for defense use about 400 years ago, if u you observe well the corner and inside, we still could see the function of the castle. There is...More
Nice forteress, well preserved and historicaly very intersting. However everywhere you look is garbage, old plastic, cigarette butts etc. Such a big touristic attraction should be preserved much better.
