This is just superb, but especially because the guide was able to explain the background behind a Classical Scholar's Garden, and then show all the 'yin/yang' aspects as we walked around. Beautifully maintained, a remarkable garden in an unlikely location.

Lovely gardens amidst the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Very serene and calming environment in one of the few formal gardens outside of China.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. I had time to sit back and absorb the tranquility and enjoy the beauty. One of those places best not rushed.

We came to Vancouver by way of Shanghai where we had the good fortune to see some World Heritage Chinese gardens in Suzhou. Scholar's gardens like this one don't really fit the western idea of a "garden" because they grew out of Chinese landscape painting...More

The gardens are gorgeous and well worth a visit. However, be aware that the gardens are located in a part of the city where you may experience sights and sounds that are hard drug located.

With the recent exodus of massive new building
projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which
has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas;
is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before.
Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian
cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking,
Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a
space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes

Hi Well we only visited last week and it is still very mild here. Nothing had started dying back and none of the trees have started turning yet. I think you will be ok for end of October Cheers Alex

We visited in mid-July 2017 and found the property in pristine condition and both Koi and the resident turtle enjoying the renovated pond. The adjacent public park was also clean and well-tended.
