Ok...if you are interesting in local crafts what you do when you get off your cruise ship you walk thru the port area and as you exit that area you walk straight ahead to Bay Street. This is the main shopping street. Turn right and...More

This place is VERY overwhelming. DEFINITELY a place you need to haggle with. A lot of the shops had the same things, and they tell you that they're locally made, but I think they're all made in a factory... but it's still a cool experience....More

This place is kind of overwhelming. There are hundreds of local vendors everywhere. Most of the items seem to be mass produced but you can find some true locally made items. They will negotiate prices to some extent. One area that was really cool, is...More

As with all “ tourist traps “, things at the Straw Market have changed and not for the better over the years. We were lucky to find a few articles being handmade - embroidered straw purses - as we walked through, but most of what...More

Fun if you want to buy souvenirs. It’s a really fun stop with a lot of options. We enjoyed it but didn’t spend the whole day there. Make sure to explore around. The city is easy to do by foot and fun.

So we visited this straw market after sailing to Nassau on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I support the idea of patronizing local vendors. This market, however, wasn't very inviting. It was sort of like Black Friday. Very crowded, deals to be had, but also overpriced...More

This straw market is a great place to find souvenirs for friends and family. The buildings has a hundred + vendors lined up side by side. Bargain Bargain Bargain!

During a recent cruise NCL made the mistake of making us overnight in Nassau. The thought of sitting on that cruise ship a moment longer because all of the other stops were cancelled, was more than I could stand so I got off the ship,...More

Whenever you visit a city you should visit the local markets. In this one you can buy souvenirs and gifts as well as some incredible carved wood pieces. You can even see the craftman working on them. Overall a great experience.

We enjoyed the straw market. Picked up some shirts. Was facinated by the wood carvers. Talent with a hacket.

Not sure about the church, but I do recal there being one up the hill. If it's that one, it's less then a 10 min walk from the market.

I agree with the previous answer... the cruise will deposit you in an area with small huts trying to sell you souvenirs and locally made goods. Leave this area, turn right, and walk down the street. It's about 6 blocks to... More
