This was my first opportunity to see some indigenous birds that I had never seen before in real life...what a treat!
Choose your admission time to Selvatura Park and make your own way there, then set off for a low-key exploration of the nature park.
Get a closer look at some 30 species of frogs, lizards, geckos, and snakes during a visit inside the herpetarium. A guide will point out live amphibians and reptiles housed in terrariums with specialized habitats including climate-controlled environments.
The exhibit at the insect museum, created by a world-renowned entomologist, features thousands of insects from all over the world. Then take a guided walk among more than 20 species of butterflies; the butterfly garden provides information about the life cycle and adaptive behaviors of these beautiful insects.
You can also walk along eight different hanging bridges of various lengths, ranging between 150 feet (50 meters) and 510 feet (170 meters), with heights between 36 feet (12 meters) and 180 feet (60 meters). See the rainforest canopy from above and delight in the lush landscape.
We did our ziplining at another near-by less extreme facility, but walked the canopy bridges and the various exhibits (butterfly, hummingbird, reptile, insectarium) at Selvatura. We elected to pay for guiding, and found that worthwhile. We didn't see much beyond some birds on the canopy...More
