About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- aidaz3940 contributionsRude and ignorant guideI loved all the other tours by Budget Georgia, however, this time I was extremely disappointed in the guide Zurab. After founding out I was speaking Russian he completely changed his attitude to toxic, as a matter of fact he was rude to me the entire with me even though I'm not Russian nor I'm from Russia. Regardless, this isn't professional and appropriate. He is heavily prejudiced and thus his historical insights are quite subjective and rather emotional. I reported it to the company to avoid this type of behavior for future yet they ignored me. On multiple occasions he made me very comfortable by dismissing what I was saying and plainly ignoring at some times.Written 19 September 2024
- atanera130 contributionsGreat tour to explore this part of GiorgiaThat was my highlight of the trip, particularly Vardzia. It's so beautiful. We generally enjoyed the trip and it was nice mix of various views and history. We would like maybe have a bit of more time in Borjomi. Our guide was great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.Written 11 September 2024

Tasty food, wine and breathtaking views. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny and creative. It was our 2nd trip with #BudgetGeorgiaKutaisi team, they created an amazing experience for us!Written 29 August 2024

- 714andreg0 contributionsBest Food and Wine We had in GeorgiaDon't be put off by the slightly higher price for this tour! The food included was some of the best we had in Georgia. The focus of the tour really is on enjoying the food and the wine. There is some introductory information on wine-making in Georgia, but don't expect too much. We met some really nice people on this tour and George was a really hospitable guide.Written 19 June 2024
- 362antoniam0 contributionsScenery to die forSaba was a wonderful guide and driver. We were picked up in Borjomi after our previous day hiking tour and got to enjoy tasting the Borjomi waters followed by a drive that will live in my memories forever - the drive from Borjomi to Vardzia is one of the most beautiful drives I've experienced in traveling around the world. Vardzia is incredible and Saba was very knowledgeable. He also made our lunch in Vardzia seamless - having us preorder and then calling to make sure the food would be ready when we got back from touring Vardzia. He's also a fantastic photo taker! His driving was impeccable and the whole experience was just fantastic. Budget Georgia is the best tour organizer I've had the pleasure of using anywhere.Written 14 June 2024
- 362antoniam0 contributionsA hike to rememberThe entire tour experience was fantastic. Our guide, Luka, was fabulous and had great patience with our group, particularly my 9 year old son. It was my son's first big hike and the 16 kilometers were his highlight of the trip. The hike was fun, even when it was grueling, and the views were stunning. Towards the end, we cooled off by a river and ended up enjoying local homemade wine from a trout farm nearby. Spending so much time on a challenging hike with people you've never met before can be awkward, but with Luka as our guide, we all were friends by the end, exchanging details and photos. Budget Georgia gave us the opportunity to experience nature that as tourists visiting for the first time we would not have been able to do on our own. Highly recommend.Written 14 June 2024
- Katarina L0 contributionsExcellent 1-day trip from Batumi to Adjarian mountainsAs the group of 5 tourists from various countries we spent beautiful day in Adjarian mountains, seeing several waterfalls and ancient bridges and at the end having excellent lunch in a restaurant on a hill, watching a performance of traditional Georgian musicians and dancers. Good trip with good guides, thank you!Written 13 June 2024
- 50-by-20220 contributionsGreat hike, terrible planning!First, the good news. The hike itself was great — pretty strenuous with lovely views at the summit. There is a section where you’re walking on a ridge — not dangerous but kinda scary if you’re afraid of heights (like I am). Also, the descent is very steep — quite tiring for legs/knees. Giorgi was an amiable guide. As for the bad news, the hike ends somewhat abruptly in the middle of nowhere (where the van was supposed to pick us up). The company uses a complex system of transfers to get people with different itineraries to where they need to be. But, time management is not a strong suit! This left me (and the guide) with an unplanned 2-mile walk (at the end of a strenuous 13-mile hike) to the nearest road, a 30-min wait by the side of a dusty road for an unplanned ride to the nearest town on a local bus, and an overall 3-hour delay in pick up. To make matters worse, the guide (Tornique) who arrived with the van offered no apology and attempted to make light of the situation. I would not do another tour, or even an inter-city transfer, with Budget Georgia.Written 8 June 2024
- SurabhiB700 contributionsDo not trust them. The tour company messaged 1 day before saying they can’t do the tour and that they need extra money if we want to go. I had booked 5 weeks before. Confirmed on message as well. My plans before and after were also booked and therefore I did not have a flexible schedule like most travellers. Ultimately they took an extra 90 GEL and instead of a group tour they did a private taxi transfer instead. there was no guide, no one to explain anything. Just a cab driver who did not even understand English and who just took us to the same places in the itinerary Very bad experience.Written 3 June 2024
- Nimaline0 contributionsMountain tour Kazbegi and Gudauri. After we liked the Cave Tour and Martvili Canyon in Kutaisi so much, we booked another tour in Tbilisi (14.05.2024). It was the "KAZBEGI & GUDAURI Day Tour from Tiflis". Once again, our expectations were more than exceeded. We were lucky that a third person decided to do the tour and so the tour could start the next day. Giorgi was a great tour guide. Again, we learned a lot about the sights and history of Georgia. You can tell that the guides have a lot of fun doing their job. There was a stop at a very good restaurant on the way back. Unfortunately, the weather did not play along, it was snowing and very foggy. Once again, we can highly recommend Budget-Georgia.Written 24 May 2024

We can really recommend the tour operator. Thank you Nicole and Michael.Written 24 May 2024

First of all, this price is a scam. You spend more than the cost of the tour on all of the entrance fees, and it’s a total waste of time for each person to buy their own ticket. It would have made so much more sense for the entry fees to just be included and skip waiting long periods of time for everyone to buy their individual tickets! Second, the order in which you visit places makes no sense at all. You should really start with a cave tour first. We were so late for the cave tour, due to other things, being late, that we had to wait half an hour for the next guide, which was a huge group and quite miserable. Then, because we were running late, our tour guide really rushed us through the cave, harassing us to move faster and faster, but he has because he had another appointment that night. Ended up being so rushed. I dropped my very expensive scarf in the mud and it’s permanently stained. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this to her. I would recommend everybody else, that you go with another company, where the cave is first, so that you can arrive at the correct time. And the entrance fees are included. So time is not wasted.

First of all, there is nothing scammy in our service. The description of the tour clearly says that the price covers transportation and guiding service. Also, it says that the entrance fees are not included in price. Here is why: there are 5 tickets to buy for this tour. 3 of them are for entering the places and 2 of them are for the boat rides. The thing is the in case of rain and high level of water in the rivers some services are not available. If we include tickets in the price and some of the services are not available we can’t provide refunds for them. On the other hand some people get too tired and want to skip some activities. This is why we don’t include entrance tickets in the price.
We used to start the tour from Prometheus cave but we were always struggling with the time. So we decided to change. The thing is that the first group in Prometheus cave starts at 10:30. This means we had to start a tour at 10:00 from Kutaisi that delayed the tour and sometimes we couldn’t make it till all places as they close at 17:00 and 18:00 in some months.
This is why we start at 09:00 from Martvili canyon that gives us extra time to fit all sports in one day.
As we see there are reasons why this tour is arranged in this way. Next time think twice before write 1 start review to the tour and the company that has excellence badge.

A long day with lots of stairs but well worth it. Nino was lovely and full of information about our destinations and Georgia in general. The canyons were fantastic even in January. Would only make you aware that, as clearly stated stated by the company, entry charges are not included. We paid 27.50 GEL each for both of the canyons and 30GEL for the caves. If you want to take the boat trip (short but lovely) at Martvili was another 15 GEL each.
Well worth taking the tour and happy to recommend Budget Georgia.

Great tour with amazing cave and canyon experience. As the weather was raining hard, the second canyon was swapped out for a monastery, which worked great. Star rating would have been 5, if it wasn’t for the guide, who sat in the minibus watching videos and playing games on his phone with the sound blasting out. The driver also kept putting the heating up very high, even though a number of guests had asked for it to be cooler. We were also hurried onto the minibus after each destination, therefore missing the opportunity for a comfort break and then sat on the minibus without any toilet stops. Great sites, but it felt that either through arrogance or a lack of social awareness, the guide and driver were running the tour for their convenience and not that of the guests.

The tour is excellent and takes you to a lot of interesting places. Unfortunately, this also makes it long and strenuous. Starting from Kutaisi, it first takes you to the Sataplia Nature reserve. Here you can see dinosaur footprints in the ground and also see a dinosaur skeleton. Then you enter an underground cave with stalactites and stalagmites. Finally, you go to a panoramic viewpoint offering great views.
If then takes you to the Martivli Canyon where you can enjoy boating in the crystal clear waters. Then onto the Okatse canyon to enjoy the great views and finally a visit to the beautiful Prometheus cave and the drive back to Kutaisi.
The tour is fairly long and requires a lot of climbing and walking. So you need to be reasonably fit. In the summer months it is advisable to carry a bottle of water with you since the activities are mostly outdoors in remote areas where you might not find drinking water easily. Entrance fees to the attractions is not included in the tour price. As with all such activities, sturdy footwear and adequate sun-protection is required.

I was in Georgia with my friend. Our guide was Saba, he told us many interesting info about Georgia's history and nowaday's life. He is a very good guide, patient and helpful.
We visited the Prometheus cave - it was nice, but we have this kind of caves in Hungary, so for us it was not a big surprise. We just walked along the path in the cave without any explanation - it would be better with the comments of the local guide. We had a short boat tour in the Martvili canyon - it was very beautiful, we liked it, but it was really short and that is why expensive.
The third place was the Okatse canyon, a simply wonderful sight.
We really liked this tour, we got a valuable experience for a correct price.
We had a patient and helpful driver Ruslani, and the minivan was comfortable.
We are satisfied with this tour.

I had an amazing and most memorable day on the Canyons and Cave tour. The tour group was 6 in total - 2 couples and 2 solo travelers, from a total of 5 countries. We quickly became a cohesive groups and we even established a WhatsApp group just for us 6 (plus tour guide Ika) to share photos and stay in touch. That does not happen on many tours! Oh yeah, the tour. We saw gorgeous sites and breathtaking scenery. We rowed in a raft below the most beautiful canyon. We were even offered a swim but the most a few did was wade into the water. I would take this tour again.

I booked a spot for the Canyons and Cave group tour nearly a month in advance and was told my spot was confirmed. The website also said the tours were operating in 2021, and were guaranteed departure, regardless of how many people showed up. I messaged the company the day before to confirm the tour was still happening and received no response. When I showed up at the meeting point on their website, no one ever arrived. I ended up having to find a last minute ride to the canyons to still see them during my one day in Kutaisi. Think twice before booking with Budget Georgia!

We went on this tour on 25th June. Booked it from the provider: Budget Georgia in Kutaisi. They are flexible with cash or cards. The reservation experience was seamless and I was getting frequent update on its plan considering the weather during that time was pretty unpredictable.
We started as planned and were accompanied by Mr. Omo, who was a treasure of historical knowledge. Was very approachable and supportive.
To our bad fortune, Prometheus Cave was forcefully closed due to weather conditions. However instead, we've head to Okatse Caynon which in my opinion was by itself so worth it all.
Along with the other 2 main stops (Sataplia Cave and Nature Reserve, and Martvili Canyon) I would call this a wonderful experience!
Tip: buy the zip line experience at Martvili Canyon for GEL 60 and save the GEL 17.25 entry fee

Great tour and guide. Despite the bad weather our guide was really good at improvising and filled up the day with great activities instead of some places that were closed because of heavy rain. Only disadvantage is that the entrance tickets must be purchased at each attraction and are a bit overpriced for tourists

The whole tour is tiring yet amazing!! Kutaisi has unique nature and we are grateful to see its beauty. Guide was very friendly, informative, helpful and caring to every guest. Everything was explained well. And the thing we love to the guide is he keeps on saying do not rush just enjoy the nature, he gives us time to appreciate each places. Worth it! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Written 20 September 2023
I agree with jksagun's answer. I don't think they would be able to start later. When I went there were about 30 people on the trip and we had to follow a schedule and keep moving. They might run a private tour for you and your friends, but it would obviously cost a bit more.
