- 254denp0 contributionsLess talk more star gazingIt was good if you are a beginner. The astronomer was very knowledgeable. He answered a lot of questions from the audience. However, there was only one telescope which we could use only three times during the session. The objects the astronomer chose to show were Jupiter, Mars and Orion Nebula. The planets are not that interesting to look at as they are just fuzzy balls. Saturday n is probably an exception to that due to its rings. Deep sky objects like nebulas, star clusters and galaxies are much more interesting. I wish they had another person who would control the telescope and pointed it more often to different objects. The telescope we had ended up not being used most of the time and we expected to listen to the astronomer. I knew most things his was talking about. I just wanted to use the telescope as much as possible as the sky was great that nightWritten 4 March 2025
- annemariemV3656AH0 contributionsBreathtaking.I saw a shooting star for the first time! The guides Tom and Britt were both lovely. Tom made the night very interesting with his commentary and his was fascinating. Britt was a perfect host. Highly recommended.Written 28 February 2025
- 181ramyak0 contributionsEverything is upside down in southern hemisphere?! Wow, didn’t know this!I expected to see many planets but we were shown only Jupiter. Even that was not zoomed in enough. It was a tiny one and appeared like moon. I want to see planets again in an observatory with a better telescope which can zoom in more. Would have given 4 star if he had shown Venus and Mars too which was present in the sky that night. He only pointed them out but did not show via telescope. I don’t know if Mercury and Saturn was present in the visible spectrum that night as he did not point them out or even mention about where they are currently. We had a very interactive group and I didn’t get a chance to ask him about these planets. I really appreciate how knowledgeable he was as he answered all the questions clearly. Mostly we saw different stars. It was interesting to know some facts about them though. I spotted one shooting star too. Overall good experience but wish we saw more planets. Blue mountains is so cold even in February. I suggest people to go in hot weather (Dec and Jan) if you can’t stand cold weather conditions. We did 8:30 pm tour and my hands literally froze by 10 pm. I appreciate the tour staff for providing hot chocolate and blankets for all.Written 19 February 2025
- 892carolinen0 contributions5 stars for stargazingWe had Tom & Kieren conduct our stargazing activity. Such interesting information & a passionate presentation about planets and stars and even learning which are satellites in the night sky. Very happy we had picked the earlier timing so that we could arrive before it got dark, watch the sky change colours and then begin the activity. A telescope was set up for us to view Jupiter & its moons as well as the nebulas. Although the price was a bit steep for my family of 4, it was a unique experience as we come from overseas where we don't get really dark skies due to city lights. We would recommend this experience for families with children 8 or 9 years at least as a lot of information is given. Us adults enjoyed it very much including our teenager.Written 18 February 2025
- lyncM3675HV0 contributionsAmazing and highly recommended!!!Absolutely must do experience!!! We watched the sunset over the mountains, received a yummy hot chocolate to warm us then the magic started. I’m a lover of our universe and the thought that we are but a speck of dust. Tom was our educator and he was fantastic!! Apologies to the other person working I’ve forgotten their name. Tom gave us tons of information peppered with humour, stories of legends and answered so many questions easily. I’m ready to do it again!!!! Highly recommended for all ages. Oh and I have a mobility challenge and use a walker- I was a little nervous about getting there. It’s an easy 500 metre walk with paved paths so suitable for all mobility aids and wheelchairs. If needed you can be dropped off right at the viewing platform and your car returned to the car parkWritten 18 February 2025

- 398nandad0 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceLoved every minute we spent at the Wentworth Falls lookout, where the stargazing session took place: cloudless skies, mild temperature, and a terrific tour guide. Tom was friendly and remarkably knowledgeable about celestial bodies and star navigation. I've already booked my second' star tour' in a few weeks!Written 19 December 2024
- ScottB57980 contributionsSomething different for the family! We booked a couple of times during Winter but kept choosing cloudy days so luckily we rebooked on one of the special Geminid nights and what a treat. We had Dimitri as our guide and learnt so many cool facts, not just in regards to classical astronomy but cultural as well which made things even more interesting for our daughter, (and I)! The telescope was super fancy allowing us to see the moon and planets like never before and there were plenty of chairs and blankies to go around along with hot chocolate. Thoroughly recommend if you're looking for something a bit different that is suitable for the whole family.Written 15 December 2024
- A4158YVjessicap0 contributionsGreat experinceWe went on the tour hoping to see the meteor shower, unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to see them however our guide Tom was amazing. His knowledge and passion for astronomy was clearly demonstrated while providing information and relaying the stories across the sky. Really enjoyed this experince and would attend again in the future to an early morning session with a better chance to witness the meteor shower.Written 14 December 2024
- 323sharynj0 contributionsBrilliant time spent looking upwards!Loved it!! Learnt so much compared to other stargazing trips I've been to, would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes looking at the night sky, and if you don't well go anyway because then you'll start to like it.Written 29 October 2024

We thoroughly enjoyed the star gazing night in Jervis Bay.
It was a very windy night, so they moved the location to an alternative beach nearby where we were completely protected from the wind. The skies are surprisingly dark in Jervis Bay, so it was an excellent location for it.
The evening was very relaxed and Dimitri was a wonderful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun guide. He allowed questions from the group to shape the conversation and was open to discuss anything from very basic to enthusiast level. He also told stories and gave facts about the planets and stars we were viewing. Everyone was able to look through the telescope at various subjects and the 90 minutes flew by.
I would highly recommend.

I can highly recommend stargazing with Dimitry. He is so passionate and knowledgeable and brings the sky to life with information and stories. The Milky Way and constellations were magnificent in the clear sky and the superb telescopes allowed a view of Saturn and its moon Titan. We even saw a shooting star, also bioluminescence in the sea!
Thank you Dimitry and Caroline. I will book again next time I’m in Jervis Bay.

My experience with Jervis Bay Stargazing was absolutely exceptional! Dimitri and Caroline were not only fantastic guides but also incredibly passionate about astronomy. The time flew by as we immersed ourselves in learning about the stars, planets, and constellations while we relax listening to Dimitri’s lessons. I highly recommend this experience to families, couples, and friends visiting Jervis Bay.

Very informative information about the stars we see in the sky. It was a small group so we were able to look through the telescope a few times to see the moon and a star cluster. The different stars were pointed out while relaxing on the beach, recommend if the night sky interests you and you want to know more about the night sky.

Caught Caroline + Dimitri on Lord Howe Island recently. Wow, what an informative night. Lot's of great facts & the telescope allowed us to see 4 of Jupiter's moon in the one view, plus a host of other great sights. Dimitri really knows his stars & constellations, regaled us with some great history. We also got lucky with a great dark night & 180degree view of the Milky Way. We loved it & would highly recommend the guys to anybody with a curious mind.

Unique experience - got us out of the house on a lovely warm evening. Saw as much as we could before it clouded over. Got vouchers to do this again as they had to cut it short. Very knowledgeable guide - comfy chairs and blankets - would definitely recommend. Would give 5 stars if not cloudy.

Dimitri’s expertise is incredible. This is the first time we were able to see the rings of Saturn and Jupiter’s moons. He was able to answer question precisely then expanded on the question.

We had a fabulous time at our stargazing tour. We joined some couples and families to learn a lot about the night sky. Dimitri has a wealth of knowledge and passion and made sure everyone felt included. The evening started off cloudy and we thought it may not go ahead but Caroline and Dimitri communicated very well with us and made sure we still got to have a great stargazing experience. Well worth it.
