Day trip Shimba Hills  Also possible with overnight stay in the Shimba Hills Lodge Visit the Shimba Hills Nature Reserve with us and discover the little paradise in the midst of the lush nature of the Shimba Hills Lodge! A special experience especially for children! This excursion offers an interesting change to the beach vacation for young and old because of the short distance to the coast of Kenya !! Only a stone's throw away from the coast of Kenya lies this hidden spot for many guests, at whose sight "The green hills of Africa" by Ernest Hemingway come to mind. Game drives in the reserve and the idyllic view from the rustic tree lodge allow you to observe fish-eared eagle, monitor, gazelle, buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck and other wildlife. With a little luck, you will discover the rare forest elephants and the famous sable antelopes, which are found only here in Kenya! Accompanied by an armed ranger, hike to the hidden Sheldrick Waterfall!

Great Communication, but Unnecessary Delays and Missed Sights
Excellent communication before the day of the tour. Hours of delay on the day of the tour, we didn't go to the places we were promised. We came on the MSC Poesia World Cruise. 1. Tanzania island trip -no dolphins, no monkeys, nothing promised except the Rock Restaurant, where it took an hour to settle the bill. Hours sitting in the vans not moving. Next day Mombasa Tsavo Park: We were 14 vans of people, 2.5 hours sitting at the gate to the park, not allowed in, meanwhile all other private tours and cruise ship tours went in. We don't know the reason. "System Down" is what we were told, then why did the others go in? Once in the park, we were happy and saw many animals. But due to the delays, most of us did not get lunch and did not visit the Masai village. Many people almost missed the cruise ship, sail away at 6pm, they arrived at 6:20 pm, thank goodness the ship waited for late MSC tours. Reuban the manager needs more experience dealing with large groups. I wish him all the best for improved tours in the future.

Very bad experience with 40 other persons two times and they all clsimed
Auwfull organisation We booked 2 tours with 40 peoples And no one was organised The first iin zanzibar Were we didn’t find the buses and lost 1 1/2 hour before to begin excursion and through that fact have lost the dolphins , the turtles and finally the gardens of Jozani due to lack of time The second visit of Tsavo reserve where once again we didn’t t find marl at the arrival and have lost one hour to find the busses outside of port , we where supposed to télé the different busses in function of our languages what was not done. Finally we left the port and arrived at Tsavo gate where we lost again 1 hour due to problems of ticketing that Marl didn’t reserve . So we began safari at 12 and had no time to go lodge to eat . We arrived to the boat just in time at 17, 50 just before he left

Avoid at all costs. Total scam. What was provided was far from what was promised.
Avoid at all costs. Total scam. I can’t believe any their tours have 5 star reviews. We took their Wasini Dolphin Day Trip. We have been on a ton of tours (including boat+snorkeling) over the last few years but this was the absolute worst by a wide margin (videos below). I regret not using an alternative instead (for about the same price) as suggested by a local friend. There were so many issues with the tour. 1. The tour promised was a personalized one with a max of 20 passengers but we found an overcrowded boat. -- We counted around 50 people on the boat. There wasn’t enough sitting room left so some guests sat on the bow or remained standing. -- The crew let in at least 5 unaccompanied local boys onto the boat. These boys sat on the roof of the boat under the scorching sun. We believe the crew was running a parallel ferry business on the side. 2. Total disregard for safety. -- There weren’t enough life jackets for all on board. -- Some of the transfer boats to/from the big boat at Wasini island had water gushing in which had to be scooped out by a bucket. There were many other transfer boats available but the tour operators were too cheap and opted for the rickety and unsafe boats. A woman with two children was terrified for her family’s safety but the tour operators dismissed her concerns and coerced her to join us in the leaking (and half sinking at this point) transfer boat. -- Two people almost drowned because of the crew’s disorganization. They were supposed to guide weak swimmers but did not. 3. Defective and insufficient snorkeling equipment. -- There weren’t enough snorkeling masks for everyone on board. -- The equipment was disgusting. The crew threw masks into a shopping bag on the floor between uses. They did not provide any single-use mouthpiece replacements so we tried to use hand sanitizer. -- My snorkel was leaky but I could not find a replacement since all had been taken. 4. Wasted 2 hours after arrival at the starting point. -- The crew were super disorganized. We were milling around for about an hour and sat on the boat for an additional hour. The crew was extremely rude when some passengers (including a pregnant lady) asked about departure time. 5. Terrible lunch + no water was provided. -- There was a big old opened bottle with water so, technically, water was provided. But no one on board touched it because we were not confident whether it was safe to drink. -- The lunch provided was in a crowded food stall with insufficient seating. We had to wait for seats to open up. Everything was chaotic and the food was terrible and was served in unsanitary conditions. I saw staff pass along half eaten dishes to other unsuspecting customers. Disgusting. Plenty of dolphins!
A day trip to Wasini is almost guaranteed to see dolphins swimming in their natural habitat near Wasini island. Excellent snorkelling on the marina park reef. Well worth a visit.

          Very Exciting
This was a very exhilarating trip. The kids loved it, the dolphin show and snorkeling was very exciting and the overall boat ride was truly an enjoyable experience. Our guide Reuben was extremely helpful with the kids and ensured our safety and comfort throughout the excursion even ensuring we went to a better restaurant. He arrived on time in comfortable transportation too. The boat companies need to be a bit more organized with take off preparations. Otherwise everything was perfect

          No recommendation!
We did a safari to Tsavo with Marl Safaris. He was not really interested in our trip (a lot on the phone). He couldn’t answer to all questions. What we paid was not what we get! Wouldn’t recommend this company!

          Disappointed
I was really disappointed about our 5 days safari trip! Marl isn't interested in his business at all! He was at his phone most of the time (looking at Facebook, called other people or listened to music) He couldn't even answer our easiest questions, sometimes he just gave us wrong answers (he told us that an male adult elephant weights 500kg...the normal weight is up to 7000kg) Despite of this he couldn't take his eyes from our female friend He was always talking to her in a unprofessional way (he asks her to come with him after the game drive several times an if she would like to be his wife) She felt very uncomfortable while the whole tour! The good thing was that at least the freelancer driver/guide was interested in his work an friendly at all the time. We would not recommend to go on a tour with him again.

Shimba Hills is a large nature reserve, especially known for their work to protect sable antilopes. There are also many other animals including elephants, buffaloes and leopards. The area is hilly, we drove around to different points of view. At 10 o'clock those who wanted to visit the waterfall met and were escorted down there by two armed guards - the animals are wild and it is a walk in the wild of over half an hour. Those who wanted could swim by the waterfall, where there were also a couple of frogs and beautiful butterflies.
The trip down to the waterfall was down the hill, the trip up was recorded by my phone as going up 40 floors - it did not feel like that, and the guards were nice to take breaks.
The trip included lunch (pay drink) at a restaurant with a magical location and wonderful views

‘Great experience. The people gives a lot information. You can trust them and they use a good car. They communicate also good before the trip. They take care off you. In the Simba Lodge we have luch and that was delicious.

When you go there than you have to go for the nature and views. The walking was great a little hard.’
