Leave from a pre-arranged location Split in the morning, traveling for two hours through the Dalmatian Hinterlands and Herzegovina heading toward Mostar.
When you arrive in Mostar, meet up with your local guide and begin a city walking tour. You’ll have time to see Mostar’s ancient Mosque, explore the Old Bazaar, and visit the city’s famous medieval bridge. Make sure to have your camera ready to capture the brave jumpers who plunge from the bridge into the chilly waters of the Neretva River below. Make sure to also sample local culinary delicacies like “Baklava” or “Burek” (own expense).
Spend some additional time in Mostar exploring independently before leaving for Medjugorje. After a 30-minute drive you’ll arrive and head to the city’s main church. This religious structure was built on a site where the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared in 1981. Then talk a walk up “Apparition Hill.” If you’re feeling hungry, your guide can help suggest a restaurant for lunch, offering another chance to taste some of the local specialties. Return back to your starting point in Split at 6pm.
