Joe picked us up from our accommodation on time & with a very friendly meet & greet explained both in Māori & English how he would show us the Māori welcome & culture. As we were the only couple that morning we felt very privileged as he drove us to the first of two winery’s we were visiting that morning. En-route he explained how the first vineyard owners came to be in the business with another explanation on way to the 2nd. Joe was friendly, professional & had a lovely sense of humour. We were very touched on the Māori welcome ( Nau Mai) & the story of why you touch noses then forehead was beautiful. We would definitely recommend Joe …. Haere ra Joe :)

This wine tour was a highlight to our NZ vacation! Joe was amazing, engaging, and very informative. He helped us have a deeper appreciation for and understanding of the Māori culture. All the wineries were outstanding, especially the hosts at each location. We loved how each one was intimate and personal, helping us learn about wine making in the region. Definitely book this tour!

Incredible experience from booking thru to the actual tour! Joe went out of his way to accommodate our group of 10. So responsive and a pleasure to communicate with prior to the tour date. Joe made the tour! From 'welcome to country' on meeting, his sharing of Māori culture and history, to his knowledge of the land, mountains, lakes and the magnificent Wanaka & wineries. The scenery was just breathe taking and the boutique wineries just wonderful. Everyone should experience the joy of Joe!

THIS WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP! Joe was absolutely amazing— he was so kind, patient, and radiated positivity, making our private tour incredibly comfortable. He welcomed us to New Zealand by sharing the rich history and culture of his people, connecting us with the Māori community and the beautifully preserved land. We accidentally missed Joe's messages confirming our meeting time, but he still showed up with a smile, without any hint of resentment. We never felt rushed even with our delayed schedule. Joe has perfected his tour: three wineries is the sweet spot, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment from start to finish. His personal relationships with each winery and their staff made the experience even more special and memorable. It was the perfect amount of time in the car, especially for a group prone to motion sickness, with stunning scenery and knowledgeable commentary to enhance the journey. Joe even dropped us off at a different location than our pick-up. We couldn't recommend a tour with Joe more highly. Initially, we had booked with Appellation Wine Tours, and as we watched multiple groups pile into their van, we felt so fortunate to have ended up with Joe and his private minivan. Joe is an amazing tour guide, a great photographer, and a wonderful human being. Thank you, Joe, for a truly unforgettable experience.f

Joe, a wonderfully talented storyteller with deep knowledge of the Otago wine region, and Māori history took us to two wineries and blended in Māori history throughout the experience. The tasting with Fiona, the founder and owner at Aitken’s Folly was intimate and quite special. And the Rippon vineyard was stunning. The warm traditional Māori greeting and farewell from Joe was so lovely.

Fantastic tour with Joe, this is the best way to experience wine in Wānaka, while also learning a lot about Maori culture. Don’t miss it!

Today I experienced the Maori culture/wine tour with a lovely greeting from Joe .. It was great to be taught about the Maori culture on this tour with stories and learning all the time ,was great to have a wine tasting too. My favourite was Aitken Foley but as they say it’s going to vary for everyone according to your palate . But the small family businesses ( boutique wineries) always are my fav . Thanks for your hospitality Joe and I managed to go for my walk and will check out your recommendations whilst on my rest of the trip . Nga Ma

My wife and I were on our honeymoon when we joined Joe for his wine and Maori cultural tour - 10 out of 10 would recommend! Joe is friendly and personable, knows all the history of the region, and provided us with an authentic Maori experience. We visited two wineries, both of which were quite different but both with delicious wines...we bought a few bottles at each spot. Next time we are in Wanaka we hope to join Joe for a longer tour!

Joe was very accommodating of our school group from Australia and gave an excellent, authentic and knowledgable presentation on Māori culture. He delivered with great passion, insight and some mirth along the way, which made the experience very engaging. We look forward to future visits to Wanaka to see Joe once again!

A truly incredible experience. Joe is a great tour guide - his humour, relationship with the vineyards, and overall friendly and relaxed nature made for a very lovely day. He took the time to learn everyone’s name and engage with them in conversation. The wine tours were great however the highlight was Joe sharing his knowledge of Māori culture with us. Would definitely recommend this experience.

Joe welcomed our company into Queenstown with an amazing Haka welcome before we started our work conference. We all learnt so much about his culture and the meaning behind each Haka movement.
