Overview
Book this hassle-free tour and let a guide organize a full itinerary that includes incredible encounters with marine life during a “snorkel with sharks” excursion off Fiji’s Kuata Island. Enjoy hotel pickup and drop-off plus a boat ride to Kuata for a full safety briefing. Beach time and a delicious lunch are also included.
Highlights
  • A safe shark encounter with an experienced guide in the water with you in Fiji
  • Delicious 2-course lunch and snorkel gear included
  • Perfect for beginners—no previous snorkeling experience required
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off, and return scenic cruise to Kuata included
What to Expect
Your day of adventures begins with a coach transfer from your Nadi/Denarau accommodation. You’ll arrive at Port Denarau, board your boat, and then jet off past the Mamanuca Islands toward the Yasawa Islands. When you get to the scenic Kuata Island, you’ll have a safety briefing before boarding a small boat to the reef site, where the sharks are. No previous snorkeling experience is required, so it’s perfect for novices and pros alike. You’ll get up close to the reef sharks and see the beautiful coral and fish. You’ll be well-fed and watered throughout the day with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea included. After your shark encounter, you’ll have access to Barefoot Kuata Resort, which has a pool, hammocks, a restaurant, bar, kayaks, and walking tracks to enjoy. Or, you could just bask in the sunshine on the beach. The day ends with a return cruise and coach transfers.

Additional Info
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Is it safe?
  • Yes. You’ll be provided with safety instruction from our experienced guides who’ve spent hundreds of hours getting to know our resident school of sharks. Our guides will be in the water with you the entire time and will closely monitor the sharks behaviour to ensure your safety.
  • What type of sharks will I see?
  • There are two main species of sharks encountered, White Tip Reef Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks, both are common in the tropical warm waters of the South Pacific. Each species can grow to a length of just over 1.5 metres although under the water they appear 25% larger, a snorkeling face mask optical illusion. White Tips are the dominant species and are by nature an inquisitive shark not frightened to check you out. Their Black Tip relatives are by contrast timid and will shy away if they feel threatened.
  • How many sharks will I see?
  • Numbers vary but it is common to see up to six sharks.
  • How deep is the water?
  • Both Black Tip and White Tip Reef Sharks prefer shallower waters making snorkeling easy with good visibility. It’s even possible to see the sharks from our boat before entering the water. Water depth varies between 4 - 6 metres depending on the tide.
  • What if I’m not a good swimmer, haven’t snorkeled before or don’t want to snorkel but my travelling companion does?
  • Buoyancy aids are available for less confident swimmers and because these sharks prefer shallow waters there’s no necessity to dive under the water to secure a thrilling view. Non-snorkelers can join the day but sit out the snorkeling experience.
  • Our Shark Guarantee
  • As Sharks are wild animals we cannot guarantee sightings however we have a 95% +success rate of sighting sharks. In the event that you don’t see any sharks we are happy for you to return for a complimentary “Ultimate Encounter - Snorkel with Sharks” within 3 days of your original cruise.
  • If poor weather and sea conditions result in the cancellation of the 'Snorkeling with Sharks experience,' a substitute snorkeling safari will be provided.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Infants must sit on laps
  • Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travellers
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the experience.

We really wanted to love this adventure but, in the end, it was the one experience we would not recommend or do again. I want to start by first stating that we went with a 5 and 14 year old and that has a lot to do with my review. The big boat out to the little island was about

This was a great way to spend a day with sharks. This tour takes you out on a small boat to an outer reef to snorkel in an area where white tip and black tip reef sharks are swimming in the wild. I have been on tours where the operators chum the water but seeing the sharks in

Bula AliaH, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're pleased that you enjoyed your snorkeling with the sharks experience and we are very firm believers to allow the wildlife to remain as much undisturbed as we can in their natural environment hence why we protect our reefs which shows their abundance of marine life and coral and why we don't chum the water to attract shark to our snorkeling location. We're thrilled you enjoyed your experience and look forward to welcoming you back on your next adventure. Best Regards, Management

Sharks everywhere and then relaxing on the beach afterwards it was a really great day! Just to be clear however the way you get to the island is not on a private boat but on more of like a public ferry, this was not made clear and we were a little confused starting the trip
