CNN Atlanta Studio Tour
From USD 16.34
Overview

This CNN studio tour packs a ton of fun into less than an hour, so it’s easy to fit it into your travel schedule and leaves you with plenty of time to explore other areas of Atlanta, too. With special behind-the-scenes information, such as which special effects are used when, get the most out of visiting CNN Center with this guided tour.

What to Expect

This CNN Atlanta guided tour meets at CNN Center. Take your paper voucher to the tour office for a timed studio tour admission ticket.

On your tour, you’ll see how CNN news broadcasts are made. You’ll visit the main studios and newsrooms for CNN’s news channels. As your guide leads you through the building, you’ll learn about founder Ted Turner and how he created the first 24-hour news network in the US.

You’ll also take a look at a special-effects studio for creating weather maps and other on-air graphics. Learn how the video, sound, and special effects happen.

Then, you can play news anchor. Sit at a CNN anchor desk, and pose with a microphone for a souvenir photo.

Your tour ends where it started, and from there you can explore the rest of the CNN Center or visit other downtown Atlanta attractions.

Impressive buildings but not so friendly

Whilst the sheer size of the courtyard etc is impressive and the escalator is huge, the people inside are not so friendly. They did not show much of their operation and we felt we were under surveillance at all times.

Highlights of the tour: World's longest freestanding escalator (eight stories). Green screen demo. Lowlights of the tour: Walking up and down those eight floors. Rooms that were mock ups of rooms where activity happens. Just like going to a museum of natural history and looking...More

VIP tour was good

We went ahead and reserved the VIP tour, which I would highly recommend. This ensures you are in a smaller group (I think 12-15?) and you are given access to areas not otherwise permitted on the large tour. Our guide, Bryant, was informed and personable....More

Don't waste your money

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not waste your money. They take you through hallways, stairs and corridors and show how the green screen works and a birds-eye view of the newsroom, No studios, waste of $15 and 45 minutes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Not worth your money

I am from Atlanta and took my friend from out of the country who studied journalism to see CNN and take a tour. She was excited to see a behind the scenes look and learn a lot about it since it is an interesting topic...More

Nope. There is a desk you can walk up to and purchase tickets. They will tell you when the next tour is, and ask if that’s OK.

The weather anchor tends to cater to children in demonstrating the way the green screen technology works; there is an opportunity for pictures posing as a news anchor and a pretty fun gift shop featuring fodder from all the... More
