"Þórsmörk has a spot in each Icelanders heart. There's just nothing like it..." Þórsmörk is an incredibly beautiful nature reserve, situated in the heart of South Iceland nestled among the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull.  On our hike we take in the astonishing view over Þórsmörk, Mýrdalsjökull glacier and the highlands. We will also hike up to Gígjökull glacier where we observe the effects of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption and breath in the purifying glacial air. Þórsmörk is a spectacular place to visit, it has it's own kind of feel to it. It is Icelandic nature to the core.

          Amazing experience!!
My husband and I were so excited for this tour and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Our driver/guide extraordinaire Jakob was so skilled and informative, he made the day so enjoyable. The drive in our super jeep across the highlands was an experience we will never forget, and we felt so safe with Jakob! We lucked out and had beautiful weather, enjoyed our hike and breathtaking views from the top. Our hike was around 45 min because of the time of year, but we loved every minute. Jakob also made lots of stops at waterfalls, caverns, etc. our photos don't do the scenery justice. Thank you for an unforgettable day Jakob!

          A great experience - 100% would recommend
My partner and I picked this trip out of the blue and had a fantastic time. Our guide Piggi was great, very knowledgable about the area but more importantly was passionate about the land and the special areas that he took us to. We felt honoured to have a local guide share what was so special to him, and as a result it felt really special for us. A short hike up the mountain to see the glacier and glacial lake was beautiful. We even saw an arctic fox near the cabins where we stopped for lunch! Piggi’s expertise with the 4WD was invaluable especially on some of the trickier river crossings.

From Disappointment to an Unforgettable Buggy Adventure!
We had originally reserved an Eyjafjallajökull Snowmobile Tour with Southcoast Adventure, but unfortunately, due to insufficient snow, our tour was canceled. Southcoast Adventure promptly offered us a full refund or four alternative tour options as substitutes. What began as a disappointment turned into an incredible experience when we chose the 2.5-hour buggy tour. Our guides, Dori and Robert, were absolutely fantastic—knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about the outdoors. They were excellent at answering our questions and ensuring we had an unforgettable experience. The tour felt semi-private, with only two couples, including us, which made it even more special. The adventure took us through a frozen river, to a stunning waterfall, and into a captivating cave. The landscapes were breathtakingly beautiful—just like everything else in Iceland. If you're looking for an amazing tour, we highly recommend the buggy/UTV tour. A big plus was that Southcoast Adventure provided weather- and wind-proof clothing, which was essential for our mid-November tour. Despite the cold and windy conditions, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. You won’t be disappointed!

          Two great adventures!
We recently used Southcoast Adventures for two tours, booked through our hotel (Hotel Ranga). The tours were the Landmannalaugur super jeep tour, and the Thorsmork super jeep tour. The weather for both tours was quite challenging - for Landmannalaugur, an overnight snow followed by rain produced extremely challenging slushy conditions - the first route our guide (Ingemar) tried was inaccessible - even with super jeep, but he switched to a slightly longer route and got us there safely. Ingemar was very knowledgeable and focused on making our trip memorable. It turned out we were the only ones to make it to Landmannalaugur that day, and we enjoyed a private experience at the springs. The rhyolite scenery was amazing! The second tour was to Thorsmork on a super jeep. Once again we had challenging weather (heavy rain) but our guide (Elias) got us through safely, with lots of interesting knowledge about Iceland (we really loved the thirteen “Santa’s”!). Once again we were the only ones to get out to Thorsmork that morning, and it was an exciting trip. We were very fortunate that both tours ended up being private tours essentially since we were the only clients booked those days. Southcoast is very professional, and we highly recommend both them, and their guides Ingemar and Elias.

          Memories we will treasure forever
We were lucky enough to go on the super jeep tour of the Thorsmork area of Iceland. The trip was incredible in the huge Ford and our guide was passionate and knowledgable about the landscape. We hiked and saw some beautiful sites and came home with memories we will treasure forever.

Excellent adventure for a group/family with a range of hiking abilities!!
Most excellent adventure for a group/family with a range of hiking abilities!! The five hour Super-jeep tour dives past deep canyons, rugged washes, beautiful waterfalls and impressive glaciers with multiple stops to get out and explore. Hefty large-wheeled vehicles tackle imposing Thorsmork Valley road with a minimum of jarring vibration. At the end of the valley the rustic Lava Hut "cafe" served delicious soup-bread-cake lunch after a pleasant optional two(?)mile hike. Our guide (Elvar), personable and knowledgeable, patiently answered all my questions during the drive. Well worth every penny!!

          Absolutely Amazing
We booked an all day Super Jeep tour with this company as a last minute change of plan the day before our trip. We didn’t expect it to be the best day we had in Iceland! The vehicles we rode in gave us 100% confidence in their safety, capabilities, and comfort! The trip to the highlands was absolutely stunning! The tour guide we had, Magnus, was very friendly and very entertaining! He was enthusiastic about the day of adventure we had planned. He taught us fun Icelandic games as we drove to the highlands, stopped at every request to take pictures, and was extremely knowledgeable about the terrain. He showed us amazing views, waterfalls, and scenery we didn’t even know was there! I couldn’t recommend a company more for your Icelandic adventure! I can’t wait to come back to do it again!

          Reykjavik and South Iceland
I can not rave enough about the tour guides at Southcoast Adventure. We were lucky enough to have Magnus on day 1 and 2 (private tour to the Silver Circle and Glaciers) and Gundy on day 3 (Katla Cave, Vik, and Black Sand Beaches). Both were beyond wonderful and really went above and beyond to make our experience incredible. On our request, both made detours to see sights that were not listed. If I could give them a higher rating than 5, I would!

          Our Favorite Adventures
Southeast Adventure is one of the most special adventure companies to me and my husband in Iceland. Earlier this month, we spent a lot of time with Southcoast Adventure; they provided transportation on our wedding day in Iceland, and the following week we had two tours with Southcoast: one to Landmannalaugar and a Buggy Tour into Þórsmörk. On our wedding day, our driver, Þórður, went above and beyond to make our day so special and memorable! He taught us so much about Iceland while we spent the day traveling to different waterfalls, beaches, and forests for our wedding photos. He also brought us to spots that were personal to him and have become very special to us and our wedding memories. We left our wedding day with a new friend in Iceland. On our tour to Landmannalaugar, we had the extra bonus of stopping at the base of Hekla which blew our minds! Our guide was so kind, knowledgeable, flexible, and kept us safe and informed along the 9 hour day. We were so excited to spend time hiking in Landmannalaugar as that had been on our bucket list and we had perfect weather to see somewhere absolutely breathtaking. We wouldn't have been able to visit Landmannalaugar without Southcoast Adventure and are so grateful for this day long excursion on our honeymoon. Towards the end of our honeymoon, we also went on a 2.5 hour Buggy Tour with Southcoast Adventure that took us into Þórsmörk. This was hands down one of the best excursions my husband and I had ever done. We had a blast with our guide, Snorri, and we couldn't believe some of the landscape we were seeing as we drove. We cannot wait to come back and do another Buggy Tour with Southcoast Adventure! Southcoast Adventure's staff is also incredible. We got to know Sigga Fridao on our wedding day and throughout our time in Iceland and we have left with an incredible friend in Sigga. Sigga made sure all of our adventures were perfect, fun, and educational. She took time out of her day to answer any questions we had about our adventures. And we were able to spend time sharing travel stories with Sigga at the end of our Buggy Tour. My husband and I cannot recommend Southcoast Adventure enough. We look forward to many more trips to Iceland and many more adventures with Southcoast Adventure!

Without question a must do tour in Iceland, even better if you are lucky enough to get Biggi as your guide
This was without a doubt the best tour experience we had in Iceland. Biggi was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The other group cancelled so it wound up being a “private tour” with Biggi and by the end it felt like he was a family friend. He told us all about þorsmork and how it’s his favorite spot in Iceland and how his family travels out there each year. He showed us where he proposed to his wife and where they got married out there. The views were something I cannot put into words, truly stunning and unlike anything else. I will be not only recommending this tour to any friends/family who travel to Iceland but I will be insisting that it is a must do experience. Truly memorable and breathtaking. Thank you again to Biggi for being so amazing

Enjoyable trip into Thorsmork via Superjeep with hiking
Enjoyable day despite low cloud ceiling. Our family of 6 (teens aged 15-19) enjoyed our foray into Thorsmork on the 16 passenger super jeep. The entire day lasted about 7 hours. We enjoyed a relatively smooth ride on the lava gravel roads (or lack of road), crossing rivers as we went. We had a few brief hikes/walks along the way into Thorsmork--exploring a canyon, listening to stories about Icelandic Trolls and spotting them in the rocks as we went. After a few stops we arrived at huts/base camp managed by Icelandic Hiking group and had three options: a short 20-30 minute flat hike through a valley, a 1+ hour hike up the peak and down, or staying in the jeep and driving around...all meeting at a comfy hut and restaurant on the other side for our delicious lunch of soup, bread, hummus, pesto, desserts. Our family split up on the 2 hikes. It was a cloudy day with light drizzle at times so we had no view at the top of the peak, but I'm sure it was beautiful since it was clearly a nice vantage point for the valley. It was a moderately strenuous hike up, but we did it in less than 30 minutes, and then had a nice hike down the other side. 3 of our kids took the flat trip through the valley and reached lunch in about 25 minutes. After lunch we were back in the jeep and had one more stop--hiking into a canyon along the river bed and then crossing the stream (on foot) and ducking into this narrow side canyon with a beautiful hidden waterfall. Total hiking for the day was about 4.5 miles, spread across the various stops. Overall it was a nice adventure. Our guide was friendly and informative.

Incredibly positive experience - highly recommended
What an increcibly positive experience! We had the Thórsmörk day hike, a combination of super-jeep tour and a few hikes. Our guide (Siggi) was superb: Highly competent geologist, who profoundly answered all our (many!) questions regarding volcanos, glaciers, rivers, icelandic history. Plus, he had great fun in driving his adventure-jeep through rivers. We did three hikes in total, one lonely waterfall with some quite technical passages, the beautiful Thorsmörk mountain peak and finally an impressive canyon - each of these wouldn't have been possible for us without a guide, each of these were wonderful and unique experiences. The tour (and especially Siggi!) is a five-star recommendation - and we will definitely book it!!

          Marvelous Day in Iceland
I would like to commend Stefan Markusson of Southcoast Adventure for the marvelous private Laugavegur-Fjallabak Super Jeep Tour. Although the weather was overcast and moody with some light rain, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the unique landscape. Our very skilled and knowledgeable guide allowed us to experience the rugged and varied beauty of the Icelandic highlands, while providing extensive information about the terrain and the geologic history of the area. He also shared amusing tidbits about explorers, adventurers, and modern backcountry hikers. Because Stefan immediately noticed my daughter’s interest in photography, he was conscientious about providing numerous opportunities for great pictures. He always stopped at places with wonderful views and perfect camera angles. During the 10-hour adventure the bathroom breaks were well timed—an important point for this 75-year-old lady. Additionally, the lunch we ordered from the company was tasty and quite adequate for us, although active hikers or travelers with teenagers might want to take extra snacks. The only thing that posed a challenge was climbing into and out of the very tall Jeep. A stool of some sort would be quite helpful for short or older people. We traversed rugged mountains roads, forded rivers, and drove to an elevation of over a thousand meters while continually marveling at the landscape. Although some of the back roads were extremely rough, Stefan navigated competently and kept us safe and comfortable at all times. He has the perfect combination of experience, knowledge, and personality for a guide, and his English is totally excellent. We particularly appreciated his willingness to answer our many questions about Iceland. I truly cannot imagine a better way to see the essence of the remote mountain area and to learn about Iceland, and I highly recommend this Southcoast Adventure tour, especially with Stefan Markusson.

          Great fun with beautiful scenery!
Our family did the 2-1/2 hour buggy tour with Southcoast Adventures and loved it! The 1000cc buggies were plenty powerful with great suspension for a nice ride. Splashing through cold glacier streams was very fun! We saw an amazing glacier up close, and the geologist tour guy was educational, too!! Highly recommend this buggy tour in Iceland
