    What to Expect
After the morning pickup from your hotel, travel north to begin your full-day tour. Stop in Wasilla for an early lunch, and learn more about one of the town’s most famous residents, Ray Reddington Sr., who is known as the Father of the Iditarod. Back aboard your vehicle, you’ll stop for photos of Mt McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America.

Arrive at the professional kennel of Dallas Seavey Racing, where you’ll meet the trainers and dogs that have won the Iditarod a whopping four times. Get to know the canines that will be running in this year’s Iditarod, and watch demonstrations on how the sledding gear is used. Learn about the process and effort involved in training a winning team for what is referred to as the ‘Last Great Race.’

And the most fun of all, try the sport yourself and go dog sledding with some of the best canine athletes in Alaska.

Thanks very much for your in depth comments about your Anniversary trip in Alaska! It's been a few months but many Congrats on three years of marriage!! Very happy you were able to celebrate with a terrific experience in Talkeetna and dog mushing at the kennel And, how perfect, you had a "private tour", albeit unintended. Yes, John is an amazing tour guide! Not only is he fun to be around but he is very knowledgeable (as you observed!), engaging and loves sharing the history and nuances of our great State!! Delighted you had the good fortune for him to be your tour guide. It would be our pleasure for you to return in our glorious winter season! And, hope you will make that a must! Thanks again for taking time to share your trip details with us.
