  • Listen to undersea whale songs through a hydrophone
  • Catamaran features a shaded sun deck, island snacks, and a cash bar
  • Guaranteed whale sightings—if you don't see any, take the tour again for free
What to Expect
Arrive 30 minutes early to check in, and board a specially equipped, 65-foot (20-meter) whale-watching catamaran at the Kailua Pier. Settle in to a shaded cabin with seating, tables, and three restrooms, or take advantage of the cushioned seating and unobstructed views of an upper sun deck. Throughout the cruise, enjoy provided snacks and beverages, such as Kona coffee, or treat yourself to something from the premium cash bar. Venture out into the Pacific Ocean to look for pods of humpback whales that migrate to Hawaii’s warm waters to breed every year between December and April. Learn about the lifecycle and habits of these amazing animals from marine-life naturalist guides, and listen to the humpbacks’ distinctive whale song through a hydrophone connected to the boat’s PA system. Keep an eye out for other passing marine life, such as sperm whales, pilot whales, and dolphins. Whale sightings are guaranteed, or you can take the tour again for free.

The Body Glove company seems to be popular in Kona, so we decided to try whale watching. It is difficult to manage expectations for whale watching, but in our case we saw a whale shortly after leaving the dock, and then just floated around to see it surface, and then a tail

Aloha Tim, We had a few pretty awesome whale watches the last week of March. Sad to hear you weren't on one of them. It's hard to gauge from our end as well, because there guests who, seeing exactly what you did, would write a glowing five-star review. Still, thank you. We appreciate your business and hope you try one of our other cruises next time you're in Kailua-Kona. Mahalo, Chris Grossi @ Body Glove Ocean Adventures

We have done the whale watching three or four times and always see whales. This time, we saw only two. A mother and young calf that we followed for the whole tour. They were generally close, often within 100m. The naturalist was able to explain a lot of what they were doing so

This is a comfortable boat with inside and outside seating. We did the afternoon cruise on March 10, 2019. We saw two whales and one dolphin. The issue with this cruise was the captain did nothing to assure that both sides of the boat were able to view the whales. If you

Aloha Carl A, We are going to relay this to our captains and make sure they make every effort to ensure everyone on board has a good vantage point from which to view all our whale sightings. To our TripAdvisor readers out there, just a note: Everyone is welcome to get up and walk around our vessel at all times. No matter which side of the boat we are seeing whales from, you are free to walk over to it if your mobility allows. Mahalo, Body Glove Ocean Adventures

Our 2.5 hour whale watch consisted of moving about a half mile out into the bay, finding 3 whales and sticking with them for 2 hours. They would go down for 20 minutes, come back up and blow about 200 yards off our boat and go back down. We didn’t look for any others or any

Aloha Cruiser232624, This kind of review is a bit difficult to respond to because essentially you are describing a trip on which a captain exercised good judgment. Finding whales on a whale watch that are willing to cruise with us is pretty amazing. The fact that these whales weren't as active as you would have liked is understandably disappointing, but would we make a different choice on a different trip? Probably not. Those two whales could have started breaching at any moment, and there was no guarantee we would leave them to find anything else of interest. Still, we apologize that you were disappointed and would have been happy to work with you to ensure you had another shot to see some more interesting behavior. We wish people would come talk to us. We promise-- we are a pretty reasonable bunch. Thank you for your business Cruiser! Mahalo, Body Glove Ocean Adventures

Our tour was great - the fact they had so many eyes on the water helped us find a mother and her baby. They had a marine biologist also on board who gave us incredible information about the whales and other marine life in the area. Tricky part - we were with this mother and

Aloha niklaw86, Thanks for coming out! Long down times are pretty typical on a whale watch. We're sorry you weren't quite prepared for that. Mahalo for your business and the review! -Body Glove Ocean Adventures
