Get the full Louisiana dining experience with a fun and educational New Orleans cooking class. Take a seat amongst other foodies in a converted 19th century molasses warehouse and get ready to learn – and eat! Meet a lively local chef and learn the fundamentals of preparing classic Creole dishes such as gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines. Then dig into delicious samples complemented by local beer or a sweet ice tea.
What to Expect
Give your trip to New Orleans a culinary edge with a lively cooking class featuring some delectable Creole classics! Head to the New Orleans School of Cooking for an approximate 2‐hour course in the company of other food enthusiasts. Get to know an expert local chef and hear the history of Louisiana’s soulful cuisine, including the melting pot of cultural influence that distinguishes Cajun and Creole dishes. 

As your guest chef prepares famous dishes such as gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish etouffée, learn traditional techniques – such as the importance of a good roux – and the variety of unique spices that give classic Louisiana fare its distinctive flavor. Enjoy local anecdotes, story telling and interesting facts from your chef – and if you want to know the (slight) difference between Cajun and Creole food, just ask!

After each live cooking demonstration, indulge in hearty samples paired with tasty local beer, iced tea or coffee. Leave with a better understand of food and some recipes to take home and perfect on your own!

Menu items may include any of the following: gumbo, jambalaya, corn and crab bisque, shrimp or chicken creole, shrimp and artichoke soup, crawfish etoufee, bread pudding, bananas foster, pralines, and pecan pie.

Great time. Bring your appetite!

My wife and I came to the class with high expectations and we were not disappointed. The instructor was outstanding and highly accommodating. He had interesting stories and really cared about all the guest. Highly recommended.

Cooking class

First time doing the cooking class, Chef Brandon was great! FOOD WAS AWESOME!!!!! Looking forward to trying at home. Would highly recommend

Unique Experience

Chef Matt did not disappoint. I'm not a great cook but, loved hearing the history of the area along with the preparation of the food! So interesting!!! I would highly recommend this for a different experience. Not to be missed!

I have no idea. It's a long time for little kids to sit quietly without fussing. I'd say this is an adult activity - for the enjoyment of the participants. Best to find someone to mind the kids.
