- andreacR2622PI0 contributionsPoor work ethics and serviceI'll try to make this review as positive and constructive as possible. Both my girl friend and I are Indonesians coming from out of town, we went together to dive with Dive Concepts, initially wanting to do 5 fun dives. On our first day, March 4, 2024, we asked Julien if we could go to Napoleon reef, he said a firm no and recommended Bio Rock (shore dive), which is a manmade coral reef plantation right in front of our hotel, where we planned to snorkel anyway. He insisted the dive site was deeper and that we couldn't snorkel there. We have mentioned earlier that we intended to do a night dive, which we eventually decided not to do since visibility wasn't good at all due to the rain. We learned later on that if we were to do a night dive it would have also been at Bio Rock. We would appreciate being offered to go to other dive sites, which we were willing to pay anyway even if it would cost us more since it requires a 5-minutes boat trip to reach other dive sites in Pemuteran. Before our dive at Bio Rock, our guide Putu didn't brief us about the dive or explained about the dive site (Bio Rock is famous for its solar-powered baby coral planting, we knew this from another guide from another dive centre later on). He went straight to the water, while both of us were still doing buddy checks on the shore. The second we reached the water, he gave us a sign to descend. The next day, we were transported to Menjangan crossing jetty together with 4 other people (2 foreigners & 2 Indonesians), but we didn't go on the same boat as the others, because we wanted to do only 2 dives, instead of 3 dives as the others planned. Apparently, the Indonesians' guide missed the info that his guests wanted to do 3 dives, and so they were short on tanks. The guide decided to take tanks from our boat WITHOUT our consent, and asked us to wait for additional tanks to be delivered from the dive center (20 minutes away), while the other boat left right away. We asked our guide Putu if our tanks were taken, he said no, while the tank count obviously showed that he lied. I asked if he would have done the same thing if both my friend and I were foreigners, he said the other guide did so because he wanted to get his job done earlier. Wow! Putu continued with saying that he was the one who asked for our group to be separated from the foreigners, in fear that the way I dive (he mimicked it by flapping his hands) would bother the foreigners trying to take pictures of the sea creatures. I had to ask him if he was aware of what he was saying and also reminded him that he didn't brief us well the day before. He said that he forgot to brief us and remind us to do buddy checks. WOW! Bli Putu, if you're reading this, thank you for your service, but your work ethics really need to be reviewed. We appreciate the fact that the dive center hired a helper with physical disability at the dive center, who is also super sweet and kind. This is a great example of inclusivity. We eventually did a total of 3 dives and cancelled our intention to do 5 dives and opted to continue our dives with another dive center.Written 7 March 2024
- Passenger606189271520 contributionsIt's never too late to try something new!Completing our open water course with Dive Concepts was very straightforward from our first contact to receiving the certification. Communication was really good, our instructor was very patient and reassuring, and the diving awesome! For a couple learning something new in our 50s we were well supported and had a great time!Written 1 September 2023
- palawanislandhopper0 contributionsAffordable and Excellent Diving CourseVisiting from the Philippines where diving is also a common tourist activity, I was surprised that diving in Pemuteran is more affordable, thanks to Dive Concepts. Took the open water course, and they pushed it even though we were only 2 students. Special thanks to our instructor Jesus and his assistant Angy. There were also other places in NOrth Bali where we could take the course, but Pemuteran's inclusion 2 dives in Menjangan National Park was a deal-breaker. The town itself is relaxed and less crowded, making it a perfect place to learn to dive!Written 14 August 2023
- redrocket360 contributionsWonderful diving experience around Menjangan islandOur experience with Dive Concepts from first contacting them to our 9 dives with the very competent and excellent dive master- Wayan around Menjangan Island was exceptionalWritten 14 August 2023
- rubenbW421LQ0 contributionsBaptême de plongée à PermiteranThe experience was amazing but not just because we have seen 5 turtles but also due to my instructor Jesus Gonzalez !! He was really passioned and learnt me so much in just one day. He comunicates his passion with laugh. At first I was a little nervous about diving but with his explications and his serious about safety, I could only enjoy !! Besides this Dive Concepts has a good level on languages (English, French, Spanish, …) so we had a good communication thanks to Julien. I recommend this establishment on 100% !!Written 12 August 2023

- kduk0 contributionsFantastic professional dive company. We travelled to Pemuteran in early April 2023 for a relaxing 2 week holiday. My 13 year old daughter had been doing her SSI open water course online and was due to do her qualifying dives with dive concepts. She asked me to tag along and take photos. Her instructor Jesus was a lovely guy and a consummate professional. He demonstrated considerable patience whilst at the same time ensuring she carried out all her drills properly. Her first day consisted of equipment assembly and carrying out her drills in the pool. Second day was in the bay where she carried out the exercises at 12 metres for the first dive, and after an hour surface time we had a lovely fun dive on Napoleon reef. Jesus carried out a very thorough dive brief before both dives. The reef in Pemuteran bay was fantastic. With lots of very healthy coral and a huge amount of wildlife to observe. My daughter was delighted to see cuttlefish, juvenile white tip reef sharks, pipe fish and a diverse variety of reef fish. Any rubbish we found was recovered and taken back to the boat, although there was surprisingly little compared to what I’ve seen in the past. Our final day was at Menjangan Island, a protected marine park a few miles north west of Pemuteran bay. As on the first day Jesus was very thorough on the dive briefs. The dives were as the previous day except carried at the open water maximum depth of 18 metres. And I was delighted to see my daughter carry out her drills with confidence. Our final dive that day was a drift dive from an underwater cave and eastwards along the reef wall. Which is absolutely pristine. We saw garden eels, morays, along with huge schools of reef fish. After my daughter had qualified we decided to book 2 days fun diving with Dive concepts for the week. The owner Nick (also a lovely guy) told us we would be diving with one of his local Balinese divers called Wayan. Our fist day back was at Menjangan island again. Wayan took us through a thorough dive briefing and we started our day on eel garden. It was a lovely dive and we were fortunate enough to see two octopi. Wayan, being a professional diver was very good at spotting them and my daughter also proved to be eagle eyed as well. Spotting an octopus that both Wayan and I had missed. My daughter and Wayan also saw a turtle although I didn’t see it as it shot off as soon as it saw them. For our second dive we did the underwater cave and the wall again. This area is fantastic for new divers as there tends to be very little current and lots of stuff to see. We were all fortunate to see a much larger turtle right at the end of this dive. For our final days diving we were back in Pemuteran bay. Where we dived on Close encounters and Napoleon reef. We saw several octopi at close encounters which I discovered are rather difficult to film or photograph. Again the reef was healthy and teeming with life. On our final dive we were accosted by an angry Triggerfish as we descended the shot line. The other two divers had waited around to watch us having entered the water before us. After escaping with no serious injury we were about to begin our dive proper when we spotted a large section of nylon fishing net wrapped around the reef. So the five of us spent the first 20 minutes of the dive carefully removing it from the reef, and removing any sea life that had become entangled. Wayan and the other dive guide bundled up the net to take back to the boat. We still had plenty of time for a leisurely dive after that task was completed. It is a shorter days diving in Pemuteran bay as there’s far less travel involved. The atmosphere at the dive store a pleasant and relaxed. There’s a small restaurant that serves a selection of tasty food and drink. And there are rooms to stay in. And a pool to relax in, after a long day diving. When we next return to Pemuteran we’ll definitely book with Dive Concepts again. I was very impressed with the staff’s professionalism and found the people pleasant and fun to be around. Highly recommended.Written 29 April 2023

- walaha0 contributionsNot very customer orientedI cannot rate the diving or trip itself, since the whole interaction with the company in order to organize our trip was very unsatisfying: Questions where answered late, only partially or not at all. With every email I got more and more the feeling that we were bothering them an that they are not interested in having us as guests…so we took our money elsewhere and were vey happy with the service we got there (see my other review for this area).Written 20 November 2022
- 398katyn0 contributionsAn amazing experienceI would highly recommend this company to do a snorkelling trip. It was a beautiful activity and we will always remeber it. We got a transfer from near Lovina with a private driver and came for the day. It felt very safe and very well organised. Great communication. The lunch was amazing! The equipment was brilliant and fit well. We were able to shower at the shop which was an added bonus for our trip back.Written 15 October 2022

The snorkel spot off Menjangan is very nice. The underwater world is intact and you have the chance to observe not only big fish but also water turtles. The variety of fish is huge.
For this we lacked any information at the meeting point in the dive center. We waited a 3/4 hour for the departure by bus.
The island of Menjangan, where all tourists are dropped off for lunch, is full of waste. There are many PET bottles and rusted cans in the bushes. Since you have to pay admission to the national park, I expect waste to be disposed of regularly.
With little effort, lunch could be made nice. It had the charm of a canteen meal. For lunch we ordered two vegan menus in addition to chicken, where we found hard-boiled eggs to our amazement.

I went snorkeling and my daughters did fun dives in Menjangan and we all agree that it is the most beautiful seabed we have seen! And we've already done well. The trip to Permutean is clearly worth it. Very competent staff, two or three divers for a guide. Excellent organization, lunch boats etc. And very attractive prices compared to Amed for example. I recommend 100%

Well organised and safety conscious trip. At all times we were clear what to do and felt supported.
And then there the fish and the coral reef. Amazing. I’ve been snorkelling a dozen times in bali but this was the best for variety and quantity of beautiful tropical fish.

Snorkeling…almost a must if you are in the area!
From our hotel we were taken straight to the boat.
We received some explanation and after a boat trip of about 25 minutes we were able to enter the water.
