      Such an amazing day
Just finished a tour with Sierra, I can’t say enough. It was amazing the food was so authentic and delicious. I also feel like I learned so much about Flushing Queens. Sierra also went out of the way to take us to an unbelievable tea shop. We plan on doing another tour this summer. Louise

      A Flavorful Journey Through Queens
We had a fantastic experience on this food tour! We got to sample foods from so many different countries, including some cuisines I had never tried before. Every stop was thoughtfully curated, and the variety of flavors was incredible. Esneider was a phenomenal guide—his deep knowledge of Queens’ history and culture added so much richness to the experience. He shared fascinating stories and insights that made each bite even more meaningful. His passion for food and the diverse communities that make up Queens truly shone through. If you love exploring new flavors and want to gain a deeper appreciation for one of the most diverse food destinations in the world, this tour is a must! Highly recommend!

This was an amazing way to spend the day and explore the multiculturalism in Queens. Our guide Esneider was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the area, and, of course, the food was amazing.

      Queens at its best
Oh boy! We've been to Queens on our own and really enjoyed it. This is our 2d CB tour and, as in Athens, an educated guide elevates your experience 100%. Sierra gave us so much historical context and fed us amazing goodies we would not have interpreted/found on our own. If you are interested in this type of tour at all- DO IT! My husband is not a "foodie", but there is something for everyone here! Thank you, Sierra and CB- another home run!

5/5 - can't wait for the next one!
This food tour was an incredible journey through the borough's vibrant cultural tapestry, and Schneider was the perfect guide. His deep knowledge of the area's history, cultures, and culinary traditions brought each stop to life — it felt like we were traveling the world one bite at a time. From hidden gems serving authentic dishes to the stories behind the families and communities who create them, we gained a whole new appreciation for how food and culture intersect. Schneider's passion and warm personality made the experience even more special. If you're a foodie, a traveler, or just someone who loves a good story paired with amazing flavors, this tour is a must. Highly recommend!

What an experience we had with Savannah!! Yes, 5 1/2 hours walking and eating sounds long, but it was well balanced between eating on the sidewalk and sitting in a restaurant. And whenever we sat down, there were bathroom breaks. The foods we had spanned the cuisine from the Himalayas to Argentina. We learned so much from the politics, culture and traditions of so many countries. Just recently I heard a story on NPR about Tibetan New Year and their gathering at the Tibet Buddhist Temple and found myself going through that temple during our walk. What an experience! I highly recommend this extraordinary tour.

Amazing Flushing Food Tour Experience with Esneider
The Flushing food tour with Esneider was amazing! He was so knowledgeable of the history of the area and took us to so many great food spots. Really felt like we were locals enjoying the best Flushing has to offer. Esneider was immensely friendly and we loved spending the day with him. Also great mix of eating/walking which we liked. You go to plenty of places and learn so much. We loved it :)

An Unrivaled Culinary and Cultural Immersion Focused on Community
We were absolutely blown away by the food tour and our incredible guide Sierra. Not only do you get to experience the most diverse borough of New York, but you also get culinary experiences you can ONLY find there. This tour is far from a typical food tour - it also supports and is engaged with the very communities whose food you’re eating. It was clear from the start that Sierra and Culinary Backstreets care so much about making these tours opportunities to support local vendors and develop relationships with them. Sierra as a guide and host was incredibly well prepared for every scenario. I was blown away by how knowledgeable they were about the cultural backgrounds, neighborhoods, local vendors, and culinary styles of each place we went to. The food tour was wide-ranging, delicious, and well paced throughout the day. It’s much more than just a food tour - it’s a cultural immersion in one of the most vibrant areas of the world. We cannot recommend this tour and Sierra enough. We’ll be back!

Exploring the Cuisine, Culture, and History of Flushing
We had a wonderful time walking around Flushing and learning about the cuisine and the history of the area. Sierra was a very knowledgeable and helpful guide who made it a fun and very enjoyable experience. Not only were we brought to a bunch of "hole in the wall" places and mainstays of Flushing, we were also brought to cultural and historic sites. Sierra also made sure we saw some of the Lunar New Year festivities during the day which was a great treat. Sierra answered all the questions we had, made excellent suggestions and made the group mesh well together. Sierra also came prepared, providing hand warmers, hand sanitizer and plenty of utensils! A great overall experience that we would recommend to anyone!

Sierra!! Fabulous guide and wonderful day!
Fabulous day! Sierra was an ideal tour guide: informed, enthusiastic, energetic, smart, funny. Their breadth of knowledge was impressive and inspiring. Food, of course, but also neighborhood history and culture. Oh, and about the food…Wow! Expertly guided around and through what to me looked like an impenetrable labyrinth to one after another culinary delight. And Sierra had a fondly intimate relationship with many of the mom and pop vendors, chefs, and bakers. Been on many food tours and this one was about the best. We will plan more!!

Absolutely amazing, Sierra knocked it out of the park!
Sierra was a phenomenal guide! They seamlessly integrated the history of Flushing, (this) Chinatown, and cuisine throughout the tour. We got to try delicious food, as expected, but also experience vendors we never would have known existed in the various Food Courts and window stalls. As an added bonus, the walkthrough of the food market helped us feel comfortable enough to buy the ingredients to recreate one of our favorite dishes from the day. Highly, highly recommend!

I cannot say enough great things about our experience! We live in Westchester and did a Queens tour. We love to taste authentic dishes while learning the history, cooking processes and cultures surrounding it. Knowing we would be challenged by the fast pace and language barriers of Queens, we decided to start with Culinary Backstreets. Our guide, Sienna, was perfect! Their language, culinary, energy and people skills never seized to amaze me. All of that translated into a treasure trove of learning experiences for us. We learned about the traditional foods, cooking techniques and culture of so many different countries. We met restaurant owners, chefs, and vendors that Sienna knew like neighbors. Sienna went above and beyond to answer every question we had while being so friendly and respectful of the people we encountered. They also quickly discovered the things that excited us most and adapted the trip accordingly. They even surprised my 15 year old son with a birthday treat! Also, I was so pleasantly surprised to find how accommodating Sienna was to all of our dietary and physical needs. We felt SO taken care of!! WHEN I book another tour, I will definitely ask for Sienna as a guide, but I have no doubt the other guides are held to the same standard. I would highly recommend Culinary Backstreets to anyone because of just how accommodating they are to your culinary wishes and fun to tour with!

We went on the Queens Corona tour and had a fantastic time! Our guide, Sierra, did an exceptional job of, not just introducing us to new foods and places, but being prepared to produce everything we could possibly need for the tour from the "magic pack"! Culinary backstreets tours get you off the beaten path and away from the tourist spots to introduce you to the people and places that really make up the city you are visiting. We ate some truly amazing food, but it was so much more than that. Sierra was a wealth of information and provided background on the history, politics and people that connect the food to the larger culture. This was our second CB tour and we will definitely be back for more!

I have done Culinary Backstreets food tours before which were exceptional, and this one did not disappoint! Our guide was a Queens local originally from Colombia with his own rich food heritage and a vast knowledge of the many food cultures that thrive in this fascinating part of New York. We ate from a number of local restaurants and food stalls, and we left feeling so full that we did not have to eat again for the rest of the day! Not only was the food fantastic but Esneider was an engaging person who was also very well organized and prepared for our tour. If you only have a few hours and would like to dip into the many and varied cuisines available in Queens, I would highly recommend this tour.

What a wonderful unique delicious informative fun day! Sierra was absolutely incredible and provided an extraordinary amount of culinary history as well as local history, architectural facts, cultural information, etc. I have lived in New York for 32 years and had never spent time in Corona or Jackson Heights and it was just the best way to spend a free day in our amazing city.

I'd never been to Corona before, so this was a revelation. The trip was "only" five hours but the variety of cuisines we sampled was enough for five DAYS! Sierra is a superb guide: He personally knows all the bakeries, restaurants, pushcarts and vendors. As a former chef, he explained the characteristics of each different cuisine and culture. And he always made sure we had plenty of water and napkins! I'm looking forward to my next adventure with Culinary Backstreets!

I live in NY for more than 20 years & this was the first time I went to Corona. What an amazing culinary experience!! Sierra, our guide, is very knowledgeable and ordered the best samplers you can think of. Please have more areas to cover in different parts of NY. This is a great way to experience the city, even for locals!!

We experienced and learned about more cuisines from the global south than I ever expected when my friend and I signed up for the Queens Corona tour during our weekend in NY. Our guide, Schneider, was the icing on the cake, giving us important perspective and insight into the neighborhoods we visited, with lots of humour thrown in. The group size was also perfect!
