About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Q1783ZJdanielw0 contributionsFirst time in NYC from Alaska and had a blast with Mei Yen!Mei Yen was an excellent guide! She was able to organize a time and cost efficient route based on my itinerary that I gave. Set realistic goals and come open minded and enjoy!Written 14 November 2024
- jennifercJ9040LQ0 contributionsTour never happened although confirmedCan’t really give a review of the tour because it never happened. I filled out the questionnaire about what we wanted to see, etc and got a message that our tour was “confirmed” and we would get more information once matched with a guide. The night before our tour I reached out to confirm things and was told they had to cancel due to no guide. Why was the tour ever “confirmed” and would they have ever notified me before we showed up for our tour? Not sure but wouldn’t risk it if you want a for sure thing!Written 15 October 2024
- Yodotdog0 contributionsNew York is an amazing city yet very expensive and not is to navigate if you use a walker.Plan your visit when the UN isn't having an event because accommodation go up 300%. We paid $1700.00 for 4 nights at a Springfield Suites hotel. Room was clean but very quiet and cramped. Breakfast and daily happy hour included. We had a special room rate others paid $6000.00 for 5 days. Traffic was horrible streets blocked off for diplomatic vehicles. Don't bother dinning at Tavern on the Green service and food very under whelping. A Mr. Matt heard our group complaints but didn't offer anything but hearing our voice. For over $400.00 go else where. Left and Uber drivers amazing. If you have a group of 3 cheaper to hire a driver who will take you to all the sites, stop for lunch and take you to photo vista's that are amazing. Starr Steakhouse worth $$. Staff was amazing as well as the fabulous prime steaks and sides. New York is a walkable city and not easy if your using a walker. So plan ahead.Written 2 October 2023
- charleswQ4034UB0 contributionsBucket List !!Mindy Cohen was a fabulous guide. Very knowledgeable, humorous, and patient (at times I’m sure she felt as though she was herding cats!). There is no way we could have seen all the wonderful sites of New York City on our own. Thank you!, Chuck and Ann W., and our service dog, Sammy.Written 2 October 2022
- johnnnita0 contributionsTHIS BROOKLYN TOUR IS GREAT FOR FIRST TIMERS!We always wanted to visit Brooklyn each time we traveled to Manhattan. My wife found this City Unscripted tour online thru Viator. We thought it would give us a good overview of different areas of Brooklyn. In that regard, it did. The walking tour focused on the Dumbo, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights neighborhoods. Our tour guide (private) met us at our hotel and helped us get to our tour destinations. That was much easier for us than meeting her at a specific spot in Brooklyn (another option). We began in Williamsburg and walked down to the Domino Park area, including the historical Domino Sugar refinery, which is undergoing a renovation. Walking along there and the park with views of the East River was interesting, but probably the less popular for us. From there, we walked a distance thru some neighborhood blocks to a small ferry boat area, where we got onboard to get to the Dumbo area and of course the Brooklyn Bridge section. We really enjoyed this area and it included the Time Out Market, Jane's Carousel in a small park, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the famous Manhattan Bridge spot where "Once Upon America" was filmed. For us, this was the best part of the tour. Our guide really took her time with us and pointed out different spots of interest. We then found our walking way to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade area to get great views of Manhattan and the Battery. This was a nice area to take in. From there, we walked quite a bit more to arrive at Spike Lee's famous "Forty Acres and a Mule" offices. The exterior facade of the building is quite decorated with everything Spike Lee. our last stop not too far there was Barclays Center in Brooklyn. We just took a photo from the outside and did not go in. Our tour guide then gave us directions to return to Manhattan on the subway from Barclays. Unfortunately, her directions did not exactly work for us and we ended up somewhat frustrated with figuring out which subway to take back. Needless to say, we finally figured it out and got back not too far from our hotel. Just be prepared to walk alot.Written 13 August 2022
- Rosa L0 contributionsExperience New York like locals do with MeiMei was a truly amazing guide, she taylored the trip to our needs and age group, she took us through public transportation and taught us how to use the subway, it was wonderful and interesting we experienced NY like locals do. She is friendly, easy to talk to and she makes sure your trip is memorable. Thank you Mei for everything. ( bonus she takes amazing pictures)Written 24 December 2021
- jodimZ7731DH0 contributionsGreat personalized tourMy husband and I did a private tour with Michael Pellagatti as our guide. This was the first time my husband had been to NYC and he wanted to see the sights but from a local perspective. This was Michael’s first tour back after the pandemic and he said he was a but rusty but we didn’t find that at all. Michael did a great tour hitting the highlights and showing us a lot of areas and things we would never have seen in a larger tour or group. The company did a great job prior to the tour providing a questionnaire on what we wanted to see and how to Tailor the tour to us. Michael reached out days before the tour so we could adjust and set things up just how we wanted. Michaels knowledge of the city and history was great and we learned so much. Highly recommend Michael and the experience.Written 12 August 2021
- enniferj700 contributionsNew York 2019I spent the fast with Maurita. I made a list of the places we went: Carrie Bradshaw's apartment 'Sex in the City'. 'Friend's' apartment. Cafe where Meg Ryan made a spectacle of herself - 'When Harry Met Sally'. Bob Dylan's apartment in the 60s. Stonewall - where the gay pride revolution began. Movie poster/location from 'Once Upon a Time in America' - Brooklyn. Statue of Liberty. Went to a Pickle festival... Saw the oldest cemetery in the US. Walked around Chinatown, The Bowrey, Greenwich Village and Williamsburg. Little Italy... grabbed a coffee at ther cafe that introduced the Cappuccino to the USA. This cafe just happened to have Caravaggios student paintings in it. Walked the Brooklyn Bridge.. My feet felt broken at the end of long full day... 😯 Maurita is not a native New Yorker but she's been here long enough to love and know it. She's a writer so is very interested in NYs history. I visited places I would never have found or thought of looking at. Happy to answer questions and just a nice person. You'll have a good with this kind of unofficial tour.Written 8 October 2019

- Wendy B0 contributionsGreat experience with Nicole! My best friend and I booked a 3 hour walking tour of NYC while in town for a girls weekend. Nicole was FANTASTIC! She met us at our hotel, took us to the places we wanted to see and much more. We really loved that she took us to the High Line and Hudson Yards - two places we never would’ve thought of. Everything she told us was helpful for the rest of our trip. The best part though was that she kept in touch with us via email for the rest of our weekend. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants, neighborhoods, bars, and shopping. We got along really well with her; City Unscripted did a great job with the match. Everything she told us was reiterated on other tours we took so she def gave us accurate info and advice. Would 100% use this company in the future for other tours and cities!Written 22 July 2019

- 1111sharia0 contributionsAbsolutely worth it!We wanted to spend an evening out on the town celebrating a birthday milestone. Our host Nicole was knowledgeable, helpful and most of all fun! We went off the beaten path to rooftop bars, speakeasy and something a little nostalgia. Ending the evening at an amazing place to dance the night away. She made sure we were doing exactly what we wanted to do and ensured we were having a wonderful time.Written 12 June 2019
- margie1500 contributionsTwo 1/2 days walking around New YorkRoss was generous with his time, had a good knowledge of New York, was flexible around our long list of sights to see and provided us with knowledge of the Subway system which we really appreciated. I would recommend City Unscripted to friends and family when looking for a walking tour of New York. This tour was good value for money spent.Written 21 July 2018
- Melodie T0 contributionsBest part of our trip!Greg was a great tour guide, not only does he love his city, he knows it like the back of his hand! He showed us all the different areas of NYC, explained what to do in each area i.e where to eat/drink and what to do there. He also took us away from all the tourist areas and showed us places we would have never gone to on our own which was great - we got the real new yorker experience! Greg provided us with some great facts and history about the city and showed us some of the city’s hidden gems. He is a big foodie likes us so was able to give us lots of recommendations for markets and restaurants which we loved! He also gave us some good tips and apps to download for the subway, restaurants, taxis etc. which were helpful for the rest of our trip. We had a great time with Greg, he is very easy to get along with and clearly has a passion for his city – we would gladly recommend him!Written 10 April 2018
- SafariTJ0 contributionsBook Now !I have just returned to the UK from a 2 week business trip to the States. Starting in San Francisco then on to Chicago and finally New York. The 1st two destinations my feet didn't touch the ground but I found myself with a bit of spare time in New York. I've never been before and I was travelling alone and, because we are just opening a new office in NY, I had no work colleagues to meet up with either. I thought it would be a good idea to find a local tour guide as I found myself with a completely free Sunday. I Google'd (as you do) and City Unscripted came up. With little hope of getting anything (it was Saturday afternoon) I emailed the contact. I received a very quick response. They were very honest in saying that it was very late notice but they would see if any of the NY guides were available. I was very fortunate to then receive confirmation that Denise was available for a 3 hour walking tour on the Sunday. A few questions are asked about you and what you would like to see and do and also your preferences. I was very clear that I wanted to do an architecture tour (I love art deco and was really keen to see all the 1920's and 1930's buildings in the city). Denise was amazing as this is a passion of hers as well. She took me on an amazing walking tour of the best buildings, most of which I would never have thought to visit without her inside knowledge. We did some of the absolute musts such as Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building but she also showed me some total gems. The Fred French building was, I think, my favourite and a must see if you love Art Deco buildings. Denise's knowledge was fantastic. She helped me to understand so much more about this amazing city. We were too late to get into the Library but I returned the following day and that, too, was a great treat. Whilst walking to a meeting I also got to see the iconic Flat Iron Building. Having the tour with Denise gave me the confidence to have a wander around on my own. Despite some great tips on how to navigate the grid system I still kept turning right instead of left but my sense of direction has always been appalling! To sum up, this was a brilliant way to see NY and I would definitely recommend City Unscripted based on my personal experience.Written 12 February 2018

My wife and I took our NY tour with Olga. She was exceptional in every respect, prompt, well prepared, and she was very in tune with what we wanted to see so we felt the experience was very tailored to us. She was working the entire time, sending me links that she thought we could use for the rest of your trip and she even was thoughtful enough to give us a little gift at the end of the tour. I would highly recommend Olga for anyone wanting an extraordinary experience

We spent a full day with Jason P. in New York City and it was the highlight of our trip!! He was super knowledgeable about the city and very flexible with what we did. Travelled with my 21 year old daughter and he made us feel very safe and comfortable and explained everything we were seeing as we went along. We learned and saw so much in one day and went at a pace that was perfect for us. Great experience from start to finish and would recommend to anyone wanting to really explore a new city

Ed is an excellent guide - knowledgeable and full of interesting anecdotes about the places we visited. It was my first time in NYC and I had a wonderful time exploring iconic spots in Brooklyn with someone who knows the area well. He even extended the tour by an hour, which I appreciated! I'd also like to shoutout to Kristin from City Unscripted - the guide I'd originally been paired with had to back out at the last minute due to a personal emergency, and Kristin was excellent at communicating the situation with me and ensuring that I got a replacement guide in time. All in all a great experience!

We had a great walking tour with Maurita on the afternoon of the day we arrived. It was a great way to familiarise ourselves with the city and have the opportunity to ask a local for any tips or advice we needed. Maurita contacted us before the tour and asked if we had any specific requests or interests and was flexible on the day. Would highly recommend it.

Olga was absolutely delightful. She put so much care and thought into planning the route for my 3 hour personalised walking tour of NYC. It was the highlight of my work trip and I never would've learnt so much about the city, it's architecture and found little hidden gems otherwise. Highly recommend!

Maurita was fantastic! She guided our family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids under the age of 12, through local eateries with a touch of history. The history and culture part was interesting enough for the adults and not too boring for the kids. Which is a definite win. The kids thought they were just eating their way through the city but little did they know they were learning some historical tidbits, Thats a definite win in my book. Highly recommend Maurita. She was a fantastic guide :)

If I really start telling, then no one feels like watching ;) it would be a little book.
If you come to NY with limited time, book a guide right here.
Olga, speaks great German, for whom this is massive. She is very friendly, devoted and also patient and adaptable. Not every guide likes to deviate from their own ideas. Very different Olga. Even before the trip we talked intensively and understood each other very well. She's a great person. With us things went wrong on arrival, our luggage has remained in London. We were stressed and a bit very disappointed. Olga made up for it all. She addressed each of us, three generations 70, 50, 22, individually. Even after our time together, she never tired of sending us lively tips and ideas for the next day. She knew us well and picked out great things for everyone. Also she was worried and tried to help us with our lost luggage and to assist us. THANK YOU Olga, stay as you are, you are fantastic. Get to know NY with Olga or maybe get to know Olga and see something of NY on the side.

Dean was a WONDERFUL guide for our family of 3 visiting the City. Was very attentive from the beginning of our day together to get a sense of our interests, outlining a possible itinerary based on our needs and was outstanding in giving a fabulous blend of history, personal experiences and even obscure information about famous sites.
He was a perfect blend of easy going nature, offering interesting information and had a wide range of knowledge. Would HIGHLY recommend!
