Mandy Edgecomb is the best historic, anthropologic guide in the United States. Bar None. Her passion and enthusiasm for her tour re the Dutch history, and it’s influence, on the development of NYC, and by default, the world is beyond contagious. If you’re in NYC and looking for a walking tour, you have not lived a full life if you don’t take this tour with her. Mandy, is, in a word, superb. This tour gives you an adept understanding of the early development of the island of Manhattan and how it got to where it is today. It is the best two hour history tour one can have. We took this as a private tour with Mandy in late November and had a wonderful 2 plus hours with her. If everyone was as enthusiastic as she is about her job and interest in the world around us we would all be better off.

Mandy is a masterful story teller and manages to engage all ages, including a 5-year old. She brings history to life with humor--her characters are rich and relatable. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.

Good morning! A tip of the beaver pelt hat to Ms. Mandy Edgecombe and her extraordinary breadth and wealth of knowledge about historic Dutch New York and its progenitors. Her enthusiasm for her subject was, dare I say, contagious, with a healthy dose of good-natured humor. She was evidently and easily comfortable working with the vast age disparity in our assemblage, from the NYC 4th grader and his family viewing first-hand his current virtual social studies curriculum, to our own elder Dutch Masters-styled foursome. Although the edifices of that period no longer exist, and the only structural remnants of those days are the in-ground cisterns and the pieces of the wall from the old fortifications in the South Ferry subway station, she vividly resuscitated the muck & mercantile lifestyle that dominated that period of our city's history. Thank you for making her available to us, and we look forward to more of Ms. Mandy. Well worth the wampum.

Our guide, Mandy Edgecombe, is a scholar in New Amsterdam! Additionally, she was a good story teller and brought New Amsterdam to life showing how the original settlers way of life still influences Manhattan culture and mindset.

Also, Mandy took into consideration weather, ducking us in and out of secret hiding spots to make sure we were comfortable the entire time. What a treat!

I highly recommend!

I was amazed at the detail, prep, knowledge and good humor of our guide Justin who brought New Amsterdam alive in our walk below Wall Street along the street grid still intact from the 17th century Dutch days. Justin provided each of us with the 1660 survey of the town and pointed out the rare Dutch objects and remnants we would easily miss otherwise. He made sure we had sanitizer, wipes if we needed them.
It was for me, a researcher of New Netherland, an absolutely fantastic tour.

Really enjoyed this tour with a personable, knowledgeable guide. I would suggest that the company use hearing devices if they want to attract older tourists. My husband heard almost none of the tour.
