What to Expect
Your afternoon begins downtown at the Liberty Hotel, where you meet your guide before heading to a nearby restaurant for a light 3-course lunch. Then, visit two specialty shops selling nuts and chocolate. Continue on to enjoy a savory tasting at a local bakery. Head to a little-known wine and cheese shop for yet more samples, sightsee in Louisburg Square (the home of John Kerry), see Boston’s most-photographed street in Beacon Hill, and visit a picturesque botanical garden. Your tour ends at the opposite end of the street from where you started. If needed, your guide can walk you back to the original starting point.

Time of year
I've been on a few food tours, and this one disappointed me. Other than good food, the main thing I look for in a food tour is to hear stories that give a sense of the history or culture for a neighborhood/city. This tour spent very little time on that, and focused mainly on the…

While we have an eight+-year track record of consistently exceeding guests' expectations, unfortunately, we are simply not positioned to do so unless buyers assume responsibility for being fully informed at the time of ticket purchase, and choose a tour - if, in fact, any is offered - that is aligned with their interests and expectations. In this case, the tour you experienced, our popular Beacon Hill & Back Bay Tour, which routinely receives five stars, was delivered as advertised. What guests should expect, as noted on our website: Boston Foodie Tours focuses primarily on award-winning best eats - hence, the mere mention of relevant awards at stops - as well as culinary education and Boston's rich history. First and foremost, though, we are a food tour. Our Beacon Hill & Back Bay Tour includes sightseeing components, including historic Louisburg Square on Beacon Hill, as well as Acorn Street, the most photographed street in Boston. It also includes noteworthy sites, such as the 9-11 Memorial and Make Way for Ducklings statues, within the Boston Public Garden, the oldest botanical garden in the country. This tour is marketed as "two tours in one", allowing our guests to experience two historic neighborhoods in one afternoon. Hence, the duration. The tour ends on the same street on which it begins, simply at the opposite end of it. We direct all of our guests to their next destination, and offer to walk them back to the starting point as desired. We regret if any of the above was a surprise to you, and hope that you'll make better-informed purchasing decisions in the future. For readers who are considering joining us, we urge you to read detailed tour descriptions on our website prior to ticket purchase, as well as several other guest reviews to ensure an optimal experience.
My adult daughter and I had a wonderful afternoon. The tour was an intimate group of 10 of us I believe and we had a fabulous day and met some really nice people. It started at a hotel that is converted from a jail. We walked through a few specialty shops, had a tremendous…

My husband and I totally enjoyed this tour! Only held on Saturdays, this deluxe tour has you walking, talking, and eating for about 4-5 hours. The food was fantastic, and the five "tastings" were so filling that we didn't have room for dinner out afterwards. If you have only…

This may be the best food tour ever. Lots of walking but amazing food. Loved our guide Sara. We had a great group and wished we would have signed up for another tour with this company.

A very light lunch at Scampo, followed by samples of chocolates and nuts and cider, a tiny sandwich, bun, and desert. I wouldn't mind all this if I didn't have to pay $100 for it. Also, nothing else than lobster pizza was really Boston-like (clam chowder or Boston cream pie?) I…

While we regret that our Beacon Hill & Back Bay Tour did not meet your expectations, we appreciate your acknowledgement that this tour has consistently been very well-received by guests, and that it - and, perhaps, food tours in general - was simply not to your taste. For your benefit, and the benefit of readers who wish to make a fully-informed purchasing decision, we offer the following clarifications: New England Fare As noted throughout our marketing, Boston Foodie Tours specializes in award-winning best eats, culinary education, and Boston's rich history. Our tour descriptions clearly detail food tastings. We encourage buyers to read the descriptions carefully prior to purchase to ensure that our offerings will be a suitable fit. For those wishing to sample standard New England fare, such as an iconic chowder or a top lobster roll, we recommend our Boston Public Market & North End Tour. Quantity of Tastings Quite simply, we offer our guests as much food as we have found that they can reasonably eat. From a three-course light lunch, which includes soup, salad, and a rich slice of lobster pizza, through a full elegant dessert of choice, cumulatively, tour tastings represent a full meal. In fact, while we don't serve dinner, the average guest is simply too full to enjoy it post-tour. Omitted from this review are the following: Two takeaways: (2) chocolate truffles, and a 1/4 lb. of signature roasted nuts A wine and cheese shop, where guests enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by a lovely cheese/charcuterie/artisanal foods board. Pricing While we wish that we could offer this tour at a lower price point, unfortunately, we are unable to do so for two reasons: This is not one standard tour, but rather two tours-in-one, covering two upscale, historic neighborhoods, and including two high-end restaurants. As such, our dedicated time is greater, as are our expenses. Furthermore, as industry prices have risen, and we've offered more third-party purchasing options with significant, associated fees, our profit margin fell below the industry standard. Had we not increased the ticket price this season, we simply would no longer be able to offer this tour without compromising our product and our guests' experiences. We hope that this feedback is helpful to readers, and that it is representative of the level of professionalism, honesty, and transparency with which Boston Foodie Tours prides itself, and on which it has built its industry reputation.
