Price is good compared to other shops, and the staff was nice, however there are major things to consider. 1. Bikes are not in a great condition. We rented 3 bikes and 2 of them had chain slippage a couple of times in the day we had them. 2. The hybrid bikes did not come with any lights or reflectors! A HUGE safety issue. I would assume that it should not even be legal to rent them out like this. We were not warned about it and only realized it when the sun started to set. Also, just an advice, get the electric bike if you can, unless you are a seasoned mountain biker. Unless you are ready to push the bike up the steep SF streets. Note to management: Reflectors are a couple of bucks and the bike light is $10-15 for a pair at almost any store. I’m sure it’s cheaper if you buy in bulk. Do everyone a favor and put them on your bikes rather than putting people’s live in danger.

One of our family had an accident on the rental bike and was transported to the ER was in intensive care for 4 days. Their only concern was if we were going to get the bikes back before they closed that day. Plus some of our group upgraded to E bikes. I used my credit card on this transaction. Everything else was booked online in advance. Suspicious that my card info was stolen and canceled because someone tried to charge $38,000 on it.

Went online and hired bikes an hour before they opened as they were the earliest to open in the morning and had a discount doing online. When we arrived at the shop we were quickly provided with bikes, helmets, lock and a map. Off we went for the day, cycling over Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, back on the ferry, along the wharf and around the presidio before returning. Was. Great price and way to see the area.

Excellent way to see the sights, went across the Golden gate bridge and made going up steep hills achievable with electric bike. Amazing views.

Poorly tuned bikes in below average condition. Observed much better bikes on the road from competitors. Weird situation where customers can’t enter the store. Price was reasonable if you don’t mind the lack of quality.

The online booking was super easy and the team were friendly, helpful and quick to get us going. The ride was fantastic but was a challenge for our 8yo with some pretty steep hills which we walked up. No big issue but good to know in advance.

Excellent service, we mixed up our dates and they were happy to accommodate since they did have bikes available. We had our 4 kids with us, ages 9-16. They did great! The views are spectacular!! They are still going on about how much they enjoyed biking through the cities. Something to keep in mind, 2.5 miles from the bike rental to the beginning of the Golden Gate Bridge and 4 miles from the Pier 1 ferry terminal in San Francisco.

Bike in good shape, wonderful care of Mike, very friendly service, highly recommended. Suggest to everybody to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge then down to Sausalito taking the ferry back (check the hours for the ferry).

Super easy and affordable to book online. I've rented with them several times, and it's always easy, and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. One request: They have standard seats on their bikes, but I wish they had options for more padded seats.

To start with I was a little unsure about what to expect but after reading reviews I decided to go with these guys. I had one full day to enjoy this amazing city so wanted a bicycle to help me get to where I wanted to see. Right from the start, the location was good and the friendly greeting was very welcome. My bike was selected and presented in no time and after a few do's and dont's I was on my way. I cycled almost 40km enjoying the GG bridge, Sausalito, the ferry crossing, and then across to the west coast - Ocean Beach, to dip my toes in the wild Pacific! Returning the cycle was easy. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Great location for bike hire to ride over the bridge and down into Sausalito. Couple of short uphill bits en route but mainly flat or downhill and some great scenery in the golden park at the foot of the bridge and then over the other side. We took the return ferry- suggest you get in the queue about 20-30 minutes before departure time. Bikes were in good working order, helmets provided and friendly service. Definitely something to do on your trip to the city.

Brilliant location in the marina area close to our motel. We booked online which was very easy, the recommended route and route map was great and we took the ferry crossing back from Sausalito. Staff were friendly and helpful - would definitely recommend.

This is the second time we’ve hired bikes here to cycle over the bridge. Great, friendly service! We booked online (much quicker and more efficient to do that) our bikes and helmets were handed over immediately on our arrival. The shop is close to the marina so only a few mins ride down to the cycle path at the marina. Both times we cycled over the bridge into Sausalito, had lunch and cycled back. NB. The little pouches in the front of the bikes are very handy, big enough to fold up and hold my puffer jacket and a great place for your phone. Easy to whip out to take a photo! We definitely recommend Golden Gate Bike Rentals. NB.2! There is a parking garage on Lombard Street if you’re driving in, 2 mins from the shop.
