What to Expect
BART is quick, easy, and traffic free: 3-4 trains every hour from SFO.  Ride to downtown SF in just 30 minutes.

Avoid congested Bay Area traffic by purchasing a voucher redeemable for a $21 BART ticket for your airport transfer on your trip.

Most downtown SF hotels are located within easy walking distance of a BART station (Civic Center, Powell, Montgomery and Embarcadero). The Moscone Convention Center is also a short walk from the Powell and Montgomery stations. In addition, there are several famous attractions along the downtown BART line; including Museum of Modern Art, Asian Art Museum and the Ferry Building.

Your $21 BART ticket will have enough value for a round trip BART ride from SFO to Downtown San Francisco, Downtown Oakland or Downtown Berkeley, plus a small balance you can easily upgrade for additional BART rides anywhere in the system.

If you need to add more value to your BART ticket, you can do so at any BART station Ticket Machine. Ticket  Machines accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

The train was dirty an obviously not cleaned. Floors looked like you would see in a developing country. Train was single tracking with no advance notice. Added to the delay. The SFO shuttle train was problematic as one of the two trains were shut down. Added to the delay.

Recently visited the Bay area, taking BART from SFO to my hotel in Oakland. You have to purchase your ticket from a machine which has a fare chart available. Easiest way to get around since I also used the system to attend an A's baseball game. Try and have the exact amount when

I come to SF quite often and usually take Uber to get to airport. Tried the BART today. It was quick enough and quite easy ride. It is a little run down, but for the price, I won’t complain.

I've got to be honest, I really struggled to understand the ticketing system but the staff were super helpful and sorted me out. Fast and convenient transport from Union sq area to airport.
