Overview
Running along the Pacific coastline in California, Highway 1’s route involves plenty of twists and turns. Rather than dealing with the stress of driving it on your own, take this Monterey and Carmel tour that allows you to keep your eyes on the spectacular views. It includes round-trip transportation from San Francisco, and you can even add an optional admission ticket to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
What to Expect
Start your guided tour to Monterey with a pickup from Union Square in San Francisco. Once you board your vehicle for the day, relax on the drive.

Your guide takes you down the California coast for views of the Pacific Ocean and beachside mansions. Your first stop is in Monterey where you’ll have about two hours of free time to stroll Cannery Row. You can also add on an admission ticket to Monterey Bay Aquarium when booking for an additional upgrade fee.

Afterward, it’s on to Carmel-by-the-Sea for some more free time before the drive back to San Francisco.

17 mile coastal tour

Title of tour is somewhat misleading as the 17 mile road is just a portion of the trip. Got to see some great scenery and wildlife (we saw many varieties of birds, seals and walruses and even whales breaching). There was a stop at Pebble...More

Yes, it's a short stop. Walked around, saw all of the shops, stopped to buy a souvenir and walked through the clubhouse and out to see the course and beach.

Pebble Beach GC is along the drive and you can stop and have lunch, etc. Not sure how much you can see from the restaurant area. You do get to see some of the greens as you drive the route.

Approximately 2 hours. Saw show explaining Monterey Bay evolution with humans ... 30 minutes but not cheesy. I would have stayed longer & taken some “Behind the Scene” tours but not enough time for everything. Tour from... More
