About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Pritchsophie0 contributionsWonderful stay in a beautiful old homesteadAs a group of 12 people, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful old homestead, complete with swimming pool and stunning garden and surrounds. The original home provided a grand formal sitting room and dining room as well as a large, fully equipped kitchen. The newer section offered a large room with dining table and comfy lounges by the fireplace, connecting to 4 bedrooms, each with ensuite The beds were comfortable, and the living rooms were large, providing plenty of space for all of us. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Lodge for a family or group of friends - it's a very special place to stayWritten 7 January 2025
- carolinegR8880NB0 contributionsGreat engagement with staff and wine tastings. We as a group of 4 did tastings and were warmly welcomed by Lucy and Jessica, they were knowledgeable about the wines and history, they were joined by Vicki and together as a formidable trio they made our tasting experience a lot of fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend spending a good chunk of your day here. I would definitely return here based on our experience. Caroline, Jill, Scott and SteveWritten 5 January 2025
- Depplep0 contributionsExpansive vineyards and EstateWe did a private tasting at Seppeltsfield Winery and the grounds are simply breathtaking! Hundreds of years old, the family emigrated here in the 1800's and had 21 children that they handed down the vineyard and estates to. Expansive grounds and the wine is quite good. Known for their Shiraz, a must do in the Barossa Valley. This property would be beautiful for a wedding or event. Very upscale and sophisticated. Large bar and tasting area for small to large parties, private or public. Beautiful outdoor seating area as well.Written 17 November 2024
- annemQ2126EB0 contributionsExceptional customer serviceGreat customer service, setting and wines. We go to Seppeltsfield regularly and would recommend it to others. Great as just a couple or with family and friends.Written 13 November 2024
- WorldTravellerOz0 contributionsGreat wines better staffCame here just for a tasting and was blessed to be looked after by some great staff in Jordan and Jess Despite their younger years, they were extremely knowledgeable about the wines as well as the history of the winery. They made our tasting (which was amazing) even better. Loved the layout of the place and it was buzzing for a Sunday afternoon.Written 22 September 2024
- 593rachele0 contributions100 year old port is a glorious & historical experienceEvery year my partner and I make it a special weekend to travel to Seppeltsfield to try the 100-year-old port released each year. The concept of drinking a port which was lovingly put down 100 years ago & thinking about what's happened while the port is laid down is special in itself. But the richness, complexities and diverse flavors & aroma of the port each year is magnificent. Something very special to behold and experience. No where else in the world can you have this experience - unique to Seppeltsfield. We love it and hope to be heading to Seppeltsfield for many, many yearly releases to come.Written 22 September 2024
- vicandug0 contributionsDisgusted and ripped offWe wanted to taste port from the year we were born and were advised we would have to do the tour. We were told it was an amazing tour that we would remember forever. We paid $150 each so $300. The guide told us about the photos in the gallery that is accessible to anyone. We then went upstairs to a room with all the barrels. He told us a bit of the history then we tasted the port. He then took some photos of us. All up it took about 15 minutes. We were disgusted and yes we will remember it but for all the wrong reasons. I would not recommend it to anyone.Written 3 September 2024
- cherylw9630 contributionsLovely tasting experienceWe had a lovely wine tasting here. $15 per person for the tasting of 6 wines and you could choose which ones. The $15 was redeemable on purchase. It was a very pleasant experience and great value. The estate is just magnificent.Written 31 August 2024
- Meander241510260460 contributionsAn amazing experience - 100% worth the visitAn awesome experience right from the start. We were running late for our "experience" which included a tour of the cellars followed by an 8 course meal with wine matching. Even though we were over an hour late, the staff took care of us and treated us like VIPs. Big shout out to Aaron who took us on our tour and talked through the history of the vineyard and the cellars and then introduced us to our options. Either a 100-year-old port or a port from our birth year. Wow! I cannot describe the amazing flavors of my birth year port, but let me tell you it was unbelievable (to buy it is AU$10,000 per 100ml and we had 15ml taste as part of the experience). Afterwards we ventured into the restaurant where we had an incredible meal. Starting with fresh bread, butter and pickled vegetables. This was followed by fish, pumpkin, duck, pork, wagyu beef and finished up with a creme-caramel and cake. Each dish was paired perfectly with wine that complemented the food, and it was all explained to us in detail. Completely worth the trip and highly recommended.Written 31 July 2024
- Deanne C0 contributionsA place you need to visit! We called into this winery on our drive around the Barossa, just to look around, and we were very impressed with the place. Lots of beautiful things to see - crafts, glass blowing, leather crafts, hat making, and the Vasse products on sale were amazing! We thought we would do a wine tasting, while we were there. Maddie was extremely helpful, and it was because of her personality and friendliness that we decided to purchase some delicious wines. Thank you Maddie for a delightful afternoon.Written 23 July 2024

- emmah02180 contributionsAmazing trip and staff! This place was amazing! The land is beautiful, and the buildings were great. We stopped in in the afternoon for a wine tasting, and it was a lovely experience. We felt very looked after, and enjoyed the laid back but professional vibes. Definitely would recommend a stop here, even for just an hour to do some wine tasting.Written 20 June 2024
- keshd20180 contributionsPoor serviceHeard a lot about this Vineyard and it an impressive place. The food at the restaurant was incredible. Unfortunately staff at the Cellar Door ruined our experience. We were told to go and view a crappy gallery while we waited for the wine tasting event hough we had a booking. A large group after us without a booking were treated better. After being ignored by Cellar Door staff, we left without the wine tasting. Will return for the food and the atmosphere, but please improve the service at ur eine tasting.Written 15 April 2024
- 953SueT0 contributions"WOW!! Beautiful Seppeltsfield Estate Barossa Valley"WOW!! How beautiful is Seppeltsfield Estate. My husband and I only had coffee at Octeine which is their onsite small cafe at the entrance (could be so much better) but we also came to have a stroll around the estate. They have an onsite restaurant Fino which looked amazing and also the cellar door. Onsite is a very tasteful shop Vasse Virgin, which is a natural olive oil producer. I spent so much time here sampling their products. The displays and decor are excellent along with the customer service. The stop here is a must when visiting the estate.Written 2 April 2024

There were 4 of us did the tour. Dean (our tour facilitator) was friendly, a wealth of knowledge and made us feel welcomed.
We tasted our birth year and centenary ports and would have loved to have purchase some, but unfortunately that was beyond our budget after paying for the tour, however we all purchased other younger ports we liked.
Would certainly recommend the tour to others

A great tour for people interested in the wine history of Australia. It puts a lot of perspective on the life and times of our forefathers. The port / tawny collection is an important part of Australia's wine history and the opportunity to taste from a few of those barrels is priceless. This is one of my go to tours whenever I bring overseas guests to the Barossa.

Our guide Ellouise was exceptional. Her knowledge and enthusiasm on the history made the Centenary experience unforgettable. Thank you Ellouise. Then the restaurant staff at Fino exceeded our expectations with their service and selections of food and wine to suit our last minute changes to the set menu. Nothing was too difficult.

The tasting itself was fantastic. As a wine lover who has sampled many varieties, experiencing a glass of 100-year-old wine alongside another as old as yourself directly from the barrel is truly unique. However, the misunderstanding with the guide regarding the tour—who initially thought it was only for one of the tastings—greatly affected the overall experience. I had to insist on having both tastings before he double-checked. This oversight detracted from what could have been a seamless and memorable experience.

Nigel has a wealth of historic and current knowledge about Seppeltsfield and it was truly a fabulous experience to have him as our guide. Learned so much about the making of fortified as well as their wine varieties. Of course, so much fun to also taste your birth year and the current 100 year release.

Dean was a great host for our centenary tour.
It was interesting to see the differences in our birth year samples and then from the 100 year old barrels.
The only reason for not giving 5/5 is that I would question the value, it was I think $378 for the two of us ,
Nonetheless it was a good experience

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the experience and have passed your comment on to Dean. The 100 year old Tawny is an expensive and exclusive product and this is reflected in the hour long tour.

Today was perfect. Suzanne hosted the day, and it was more like a historical conversation than a tour, very personal! The tour was insightful, the wine was incredible. Above all I learned so much of the thousands of people who, over 140+ years have worked hard to build an amazing legacy. Do it…

We got a tour and then tasted year of birth and 100 year old port. So cool! They have a great history and the port is delicious too. Wish we would have been able to buy some port in smaller quantities to bring back to the USA.
