- rachael66240 contributionsWhat a day!As a massive camel fan Summer Land was the place to be. We spent most of the day there - riding the camels, taking part in the cameleer experience (feeding, grooming and loving a beautiful gentle camel) and of course browsing through the gift shop and having treats in the cafe.Written 1 October 2024
- rebeccachaffey0 contributionsNice Day OutWe had a nice day trip planned for Summerland Camels. The kids enjoyed a ride (expensive but they enjoyed it). The food wasn’t particularly great so I’d recommend eating before you go. The camels were beautifully natured and friendly! Staff were welcoming and helpful.Written 26 September 2024
- 262denaw0 contributionsCamel TrekHad a great visit here, my highlight was the 40 minute camel trek around the property. The girls who took us on the tour were very friendly and happy to answer all our questions. We learned a lot about camels and the enterprise in a fun way. We bought some diced camel meat and made a delicious stew at home! Highly recommend a visit hereWritten 26 September 2024
- cindyGreenhough0 contributionsFantasticWe visited Australia for the first time and this was truly the highlight for me. We did the sunsrise trip and it was magical. The camels are so well looked after and although we asked a ton of questions- which I am sure they have had to answer many times- everyone was so obliging and happy to chat and share their knowledge. We left with a better understanding of camels and a magical morning to remember. Thank youWritten 24 September 2024

Book ahead on-line if you want to do the camel rides!
We had breakfast at the cafe....pretty expensive for what it is. And you can only order from the menu and not choose anything out of the display fridge (e.g sausage rolls/cakes etc) as they were for later in the day or they wouldn't have anything left for people who arrived later!
Also we went on a Sunday so didn't get to see anyone making anything with the camel milk. So if you want to be able to watch them making the gelato, cheese etc you best go on another day! We did the farm tour/tasting and got to taste the camel milk, soft cheese and camel sausage.
They have $2 big paper bags of hay to feed the camels which we did but then once used up my kids just picked up all the dropped hay off the ground and fed that to them and that was FREE!
Overall, it was ok however I feel it's one of those places where once you've visited you won't need to rush back too.

We visited Summer Land for a tour and picnic lunch. Overall we had a great experience and learnt a lot about camels and the process of milking them. The tour was easy walking - suitable for my 93 year old mum and feeding them and patting them was a highlight.
The group we were part of was quite large with a few (noisy) kids (and adults) so a wireless microphone would have been good for the guide so we could hear over the chatter sometimes.
As it was school holidays there was a long line up for our prepared lunch so an extra person on the till would have been good.
The tables outside offered extra seating with great views. Extra bins outside would be good as well as the option to recycle.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone.

Rip off camel rides $30 each for less than 15 mins. What a joke!
Lady that was leading the rides was seen to be mistreating the camel’s, not a good look in front of paying customers!
Rude middle aged lady in the gift shop has no customer skills what so ever and her toffee nose attitude is not what you want to be the face of your business.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, the safety of our customers and camels is always our highest priority. We have looked into the incident that you saw and we can only presume that you have misunderstood the body language of our cameleer and the actions she took. At no time did she hit, abuse or yell at the camel. She had to remove a camel from the camel string for safety reasons and then that camel was tied up. During this time, the camel was chewing his cud which is a sign that he wasn't stressed.
I can assure you that these Camels are extremely well looked after 24/7 as the aim is to make sure they are recognised in a positive manner rather than a feral pest of Australia. We have some extremely passionate camel handlers that love the animals and deal with them with the best intentions in mind at all times. The camel is a very unique animal with even more unique personalities. Verbal communication with camels is quite common due to their higher level of intelligence. Thank you again for your interest and concerns.

We recently planned a weekend away with a visit to Summerland as the center piece. It did not disappoint. From friendly and accommodating bookings staff to informative tour guides and great food we were well looked after. Toni and Katie took us on the Sunrise Camel ride and informed and entertained us the whole way. We got to groom and assist in saddling, got up close with some of the characters in the camel family and enjoyed the early am ride. Next we enjoyed a lovely breakfast overlooking the farm and sampled some of the cheeses.
After some retail therapy in the shop we went on the Farm Tour, taken by Emily, who engaged and informed us about the history, dairy and LOTS more. Thank you for a memorable experience. We all loved it and will be back.

My husband and I had a wonderful day at Summerlands last Sunday. The tour was very informative and presented by the owner himself. I learned so much about camels and am joining the quest to save them. Presentation is excellent at Summerlands from the entry, to the restaurant (where we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast and Camelcino), to even the super clean toilets and Camel handwash! The only aspect that let us down was after the tour when we lined up for over half an hour for the "picnic lunch" that we had prepaid for. Perhaps a separate line for the prepaid "picnic lunch" collections which were already made up and ready for distribution, would have been a good idea. The "picnic lunch" itself was perfect - samples of the Camel cheese and meat, some crackers and a little salad. Highly recommend this venue.

went for a morning with the camels, nice easy drive to venue, plenty of parking, you can do the tour and ride the camels or just have something to eat in the cafe and shop. there are camels in close pens to the grassed area so you can feed and pat them. there are table and chairs outside under some trees and lawn games for the kids to play. We took a picnic and sat under the trees they do ask that you buy something in the shop if you take your own food/drinks. The shops sells all camel products for you to taste and also to buy

We 3 adults 2 New Zealanders late 60s and an Australian lady 80 visited the Camel Farm after seeing it advertised in the media
We were keen to do a camel ride but on arrival at the farm were told that they didnt do rides on Wednesdays
After talking to the person in the shop he said he would check with the camel handlers and meanwhile would we like something from the cafe which we did
10 minutes he was back saying that he had arranged for us to do the camel ride in an hours time
We were elated and were met by Josh who took us to the camels Queenie Curly and Drover given helmets and mounted the camels
All went well apart from when Drover decided he would be a little silly but this was solved when his trainer came down and he settled down
We really enjoyed the experience
It was something unique
Something that people of all ages can do
And it was value for money
Although this was a good example of people promoting their business we appreciated how they went the extra mile for us as we were unable to come back another day
We will and have recommended this experience to other travelers

I had a fantastic time with a group of friends over at summer land. We enjoyed the farm tour learning about the runnings behind the scenes and had a funny guide which made it all the more enjoyable. This is something I’d recommend for all others families friends or couples to check out. Beautiful scenery, characteristic camels which we fed, pat and spoke with. Cafe there was great - it was fun to try some different camel products!

We did this tour with a group of 24 this morning. Our guide, Emily, was extremely knowledgeable and her tour was entertaining and educational. We learnt many interesting facts about camels, from where the camels are acquired, camel characteristics, breeding habits, camel milking processes and the millk's health characteristcs and camel's use as a meat source. Until this tour I had no idea that camels were such interesting animals.
Our lunch was alternate drops of either quiche made with camel milk or a camel burger. We got to taste camel milk, and the feta made on the farm with camel milk. Three types of cheese are made on farm from camel milk. Camel milk is bottled on-farm as well. We would rate this tour highly and reccomend it to everyone. Just one hint; if there's been recent rain, wear gum boots rather than your best shoes.
If you're in the area, don't just visit; book a tour.
