        Puffing Billy and Phillip island
The trip was absolutely incredible! Saw some amazing views on the Puffing Billy and so many creatures (not just penguins) at Phillip island! The trip was extremely well organised and Gina was a fantastic host

        Fun but a bit overrated
Pros: we had a really sweet and nice tour guide that also provided really interesting history and knowledge about Australia and the different places along the way. Very entertaining. Cons: we spent too little time at the sanctuary, which was the main reason I payed for this trip. Instead we stopped at other places that was not of interest of us. It felt like the tour could have been half as long. We were really tired when we finally got to the penguins. Also , you are not allowed to take photos of the penguins but they say this right before you go in there....really douche move. We had really good camera equipment with us and nothing about this when we booked the tour. There are also A LOT of others there so it is extremely crowded, if you could go alone by any change I would recommend you to do so. Nevertheless, it was really fun to see the penguins and to see the kangaroos, wallabies and koalas. Even tho they were completely nocked out by the extreme heat. We had 37 degrees so it was bad luck. It got really cold in the evening tho so bring a jacket no matter how hot it will be during the day. We made this mistake and we were freezing a lot during the penguins parade which is in the evening at sundown.

Wine tasting enjoyable but trail too long
Winery stops were interesting, our favourite being Pt.Leo which also boasts an amazing sculpture garden. Didn't enjoy the brewery stop at the end though. Bus journey there was very long especially as a separate group had to be dropped off at a hot springs retreat first which then necessitated several miles across unsurfaced roads.

        Disappointed with tour
Tour was Hobsons Bay Bus Tour on Saturday 10th Feb 2024. We thought the idea was to showcase/highlight Hobsons Bay i.e Williamstown, Newport and Altona, at least a little bit. Williamstown (Gardens and beach) and Newport (Lakes) was great with a little bit of commentary as we passed one or two other major attractions. All of Altona's highlights were driven passed without a mention and although we could see that Altona had a tree-lined beach we kept to a through road to Truganina Coastal Park (great views). The guide had a book of old photos taken around Hobsons Bay. Included were about 6 photos of the old racecourse. We never went near this area which would have been a great entrance point into Altona and the beachfront. I am presuming this is a brand new tour with an inexperienced guide so hopefully it improves.

        LUSH RELAXING DAY
Margaret was amazing! She was such a delight, so helpful and made the tour easy beeezy. The hot springs were LUSH, I felt pampered and relaxed. The look out was so pretty, such a great day for it, clear blue skies and sun out. The beach boxes were so cute and such a nice last stop. All round such a great relaxing and cute day! Would definitely recommend others to give it a go. Thanks again to our guide Margaret making sure we got dropped off at the most convenient spot for the rest of our day.

        Terrible service
I am mum with 2 kids as by plan from explore need to reach the mentioned location at 9 am today which was 10 mins away from my hotel. My Uber driver cancelled my trip before 1 min at 0850hrs. At 0855 driver rang me and asked how far are you? I mentioned driver to wait 10 more minutes or pick up from my hotel. But main office rang me and mentioned driver can’t wait for me. I paid 170$ to Uber reached to main puffing Billy train reached 45 mins before bus arrives. Staffs doesn’t have humanity 😕.

Had a great day. Very polite guides who endured we had a wonderful experience. Good wildlife sanctuary where we witnessed Kangaroos and koalas. There were a couple of good picturesque spots where we stopped for a while . The cherry on top was the penguin march which was worth the wait. Highly recommend

Great way to spend the day in Melbourne!
The tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Hunter (and trainee, Leah) were very friendly and personable. The Moonlit sanctuary was amazing as we were able to meet the koalas (paid extra) and hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies. A couple of extra stops that let us stretch our legs were very welcome. Lovely dinner at Isola in Cowes, followed by the Penguin Parade. We didn’t get the best seat (maybe Penguin Plus is worth the upgrade) but after ten-fifteen minutes, people had moved so we could get a better view. Walking back along the boardwalk we saw so many penguins which was lovely (hard to resist the temptation to take photos, but lots of people didn’t). Back home around 12:15am in Melbourne, so it was a very long day, but worth it. Would highly recommend!

        Disappointed with customer services
Unfortunately our flight got cancelled and I was really disappointed to hear that there are no policy for situations like this to at least refund the amount that has been paid for transportation as the hot spring tickets only worth max. $150 for two people, and we paid $370 it would've been great to get at least half of our money refunded as the flight cancellation was absolutely out of our control, we even offered to reschedule for another time and the gentleman from the team said he will look into it and let us know on the same day, we emailed the team to get an update but we didn't receive any phone calls or email... This was not the customer service we expected from tripadvisor and we still hope someone from the team call us and help us with this matter and solve the problem...

There were two groups on the same bus, one was destined to the spa only and another to the cruise and lunch on the Mornington Penisula with London Bridge and other attractions in the package. When we arrive at the spa, the driver cum tour guide didn't make any effort to find out who was on which package. We thought that there were some last minute changes and didn't ask the driver but was told by someone on the bus that the cruise was fully booked so the detour to the spa. At the spa we were ill equipped to enjoy the dip in the hot spring water so we ended buying the swim wears and slippers there which cost us more than 50% of the cost of the package. We fervently hope that the tour operator pay extra attention to inform those sharing the same bus with different packages about the tour they were supposed to be on.

Hello AUT_9, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that there was some confusion on the day of your tour. Our guides do their best to ensure that everyone is aware of what is happening and where they need to be. On this particular day, another one of our guests required medical assistance on arrival at the Hot Springs and due to the complexity of the situation, this miscommunication arose. We do apologise for the misunderstanding that you experience and are using this experience to better our levels of customer service to ensure that this doesn't happen in the future. We would appreciate it if you could contact us directly at info@exploreaustraliatours.com.au regarding your tour. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It felt like our group was ticking the tasks on the tour at points it felt like we were having an experience similar to that you'd find in a taxi :(. Our guide didn't give blurbs about the signifigances of many of the larger stops and could've been more clear about what we were doing on the ferry/cruise.
Lunch is a big grazing box probably built for two but it's given out one per person so go there hungry or BYO doggy bag. The bewry should be made optional as our group was not interested in beer tasting although the location was pretty.

Dear Sknotty, Thank you for your constructive feedback. As we are a relatively new company, reviews like yours provide excellent feedback which helps us improve our products. All of our guides are local, and have have extensive industry experience. However, these are new tours, and knowledge of each spot and the dialogue which is conveyed is developed over time. We will continue to  support our guides to enable them to deliver an outstanding customer experience moving forward. We agree with you, our regional grazing lunch box is abundant and we find guests appreciate the box it comes in as it doubles up as BYO box. Thank you for supporting Explore Australia, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We had a small group on the bus: 6 people for the hot pools and 2 - incl myself - for the peninsula tour. The view at Portsea was magnificent, only the horseflies where a real pest; they were everywhere! At Sorrento we boarded the ferry and got a delicious lunch pack and reserved table, it was perfect. The real bonus were the dolphins who swam alongside the ferry, I loved it! The brewery visit with beer tasting was welcome as it was a hot day. The hotpool lovers were picked up again and of we went to a beautiful lookout for some great pictures. A 10 minute stop at the beach to see the coloured beach sheds just wasn't long enough, it was a hot day and we would have liked a swim. All in all it was a well organized, fabulous day.

First stop should be in a small town, quirky cafe not at a horrible foodary service station. Need to have more small stops of interest enroute. The "sail" on the bay was just a boring ferry trip there and back, not as described. Did not get to see any of the best parts of the area.

Dear Lesley, Thank you for your review of our tour. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with some aspects of it. Our first priority is always the safety and comfort of our guests, so we do make a rest stop that is not advertised on the way to Mornington Peninsula. Our team works hard to choose interesting and varied locations for our guests to explore on our Mornington Peninsula tour which includes London Bridge, Millionaires Coastal Walk, St Andrews Brewhouse, Murrays Lookout and the colourful bathing boxes. I have passed on your feedback to our team and they will look into making the necessary changes so that future guests can enjoy a better experience. We hope you will give us another chance to show you around in the future.

      The tour was amazing.

The schedule was spot on, wasn't too rush and didn't need to travel too far in between sightseeing points.
      Had a relaxing time.

The hamper was surprisingly good! Mostly local produce which is also a good way to respect the locals.

Our tour guide Mathew was very friendly and helpful, explaining and sharing information along the way!

We thoroughly enjoyed our day in and around the Mornington Peninsula. The ferry ride and millionares' walk were my absolute favourite parts. To top off the experience, our bus driver and guide, Kyle, enhanced the day because he was a wealth of knowledge but more importantly, he was a friendly and engaging person. If you are on a tight schedule and want to visit the Mornington Peninsula, this day trip will give you a fantastic taste of this beautiful part of Victoria.
