Amazing experience and price. Don't go past this company if your looking for a value for money wine tour.
I cannot say enough good things about this trip. From our guide Blair to the winary's, we went to the tastings and the food! exceptional at each one. But the family-owned vineyard at Yileena Park was the best—not just the wines, but Alex, your guide, and his wife (Ann), I think. Apologies if this is incorrect. His passion and knowledge of winemaking and the accompanying cheeses, smoke trail mix, and olives just enhanced everything. This tour was planned for us by Craig, the owner of Yarra Valley Touring Company, and he hit it right on the head. He picked us up at the cruise terminal, stored our luggage in the back of the van, then took us off to Yarra Valley. We had a cheese tasting, a wine tasting, lunch at Chandon, and then finished at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Then on to the airport. This is the only way to go!

Highly recommend this tour. Craig was a wonderful host, very friendly and informative and the others in the group were so lovely. The food and wine we sampled was delicious and all the vendors were great hosts. My husband and I had a wonderful time.

        Lovely day in Yarra Valley!
Had a great time on this half day trip to the Yarra Valley. The itinerary was well planned and the half day was perfect to have a slow start in the morning but still make it to multiple wineries, cheese tasting, chocolate tasting, and kangaroo watching! Chandon was a major draw to this tour as well and it was lovely to stop by on a sunny day. We got super lucky to spot many kangaroos in the early evening despite the heat. Unforgettable trip!

Fantastic mix of experiences rolled into one tour
I can’t say enough great things about this tour! Craig was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. Fun, funny, and very engaging, are just the beginning. His knowledge of all things Melbourne, Cheese, Wine, and wildlife is second to none. The mix of experiences is what really sold me, and he absolutely delivered!!

You won't regret booking this tour!
So, I am a not a tour person. It's important to know that as you read this review. I typically prefer to explore on my own and see what I can find. With that said, this tour was AMAZING. It was easy, fun, manageable, and it didn't feel like too much driving. The group is no more than 11 or 12 people, so also makes this really nice and not overwhelming. The pick-up place was central and clear to find and we were dropped off exactly where we started, which made for a nice transition to evening activities in the Fed Square neighborhood. Each of the food/wine stops were not only informative, but truly delicous and we saw over 100 wild kangaroos. Craig, the tour operator, has over 15 years of experience in the industry and he is from the area so knows all sorts of little details that if you're listening carefully will help you understand the city and region ( he pointed out the fruit bats on the side of the highway... I never would have even noticed them). Craig's relationship with each of the vendors was awesome to see and he has obviously cultivated these relationships for years. Not only is Craig knowledegeable, but he is generally a really nice guy and super kind. He went out of his way to connect with each person on the tour group, even if they were quieter or if English was not their native language (the tour is in English). Rich local cheese, beautiful wines (the pinoit noir, people!), a chance to visit one of 7 Chandon's outside of France, decadent chocolate, and kangaroos; a real treat. Highly recommend!

A good day out for a drive in the country
We started in central Melbourne where we found the minibus and were met by Kurt who was to be our driver and guide for the day. A typical Aussie, (which is no bad thing), he was friendly and affable throughout our long day. In total, Eleven of us in all, a nice mixture of ages and nationalities made for a friendly crew. Kurt kept us engaged as we drove through the stunning Yarra Valley to the dairy stop, where we sampled several examples of cheese, explained by Mia, one of the staff on hand. Then on to the Chardon site for some lunch, which we sat outside in the verdant green vineyard setting, and then onto a winery for some sparkling samples. Last but not least, we arrived at the chocolate factory for some choc talk and tasting. Kurt had saved the best till last but Why were we driving through a golf course? Because herds of kangaroos migrate daily from the forest and enjoy the well kept greens. there was no promise of seeing any, but with a little patience they began to appear and appear and appear!! Moms, dads, joeys, all hopping around enjoying the late afternoon sun, seemingly ignoring both us and the annoying golfers who wanted to use the greens while the kangas sunbathed on them! A longish day, but made very easy with Kurt’s informative and affable commentary which kept as amused and informed.

Great relaxing day out with a blast.
It was a wonderful experience, everything you would want in a tour and more. Cheese, wine, chocolate and ice cream etc... The trip ended with a great sighting of Kangaroos which was amazing. The Joeys were so adorable posting differently in their mommy's tummy.

Great experience, difficult to beat Yarra Valley Tasting Tour
A fantastic afternoon spent with our tour guide Craig and lovely company in the Yarra valley. Every element of the well organised tour was excellent which made the overall experience fantastic and very memorable. Our tour guide, Craig, was friendly and very knowledgeable, going out of his way to entertain us and make sure the tour went smoothly from beginning to end. Too many highlights to note but we especially loved the cheese tasting, the beautiful scenery at Chandon and the wine tasting at Yering Station. To top everything off we had the very special opportunity to see Kangaroos close up in the wild on the trip home. Definitely one of the best food and drink tours we have experienced.

Craig is a super friendly guy with a great sense of humor and extremely generous with his time. He wants to make sure everyone gets what they paid for. It was an awesome tour and I highly recommend it.

        Wonderful Day
One should really experience this tour when in Melbourne. Craig, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate the various trivia he shared with the group about Australia, Melbourne and the Yarra Valley. He even quoted a few lines from the poem My Country when describing Australia. Moreover, the variety of places visited was just right, well sequenced, and showcased the beauty of Yarra Valley. Craig gave the group members sufficient time to enjoy these places. Lastly, the kangaroo sighting was absolutely delightful. --- Anna

Wonderful experience, made better by an awesome tour guide
This was a great experience! This was made even better by our tour guide Craig. Very friendly, and really made us feel welcome and well taken care of. Not to mention the interesting and very informative commentaries that complemented well with the spots we visited, making the tour extra awesome.

Great experience, except for the cheese tasting
Great experience, beautiful places, very nice and knowledgeable guide/driver. Lunch at Chandon was great as well as the ice cream and chocolates. Kangaroo watching was great! Cheese tasting was the only setback. Poor explanations, no bread or crackers (for the creamy cheeses), not even tap water offered during the tasting. We were all stood up around a small table for our group. In summary, the place is not prepared to provide an amazing experience.

Great tour of the valley with a variety of stops.
Our guide, Kurt, was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about the area and every stop along the way. We tried some unique wines and cheeses, and stopped at a wonderful chocolate shop. We had several samples at each stop. It was a fun day with a great host.

A wonderful day in the Yarra Valley
I had a great day! Made perfect by Craig, our host, and the other passengers on the bus, we had lots of laughs. The day started with a cheese tasting at the Yarra Valley Dairy, beautiful cheese, then onto a wine and 'Champagne' tasting, a light charcuterie lunch, more wine tasting and the Chocolaterie to finish. A very relaxing day and a big thank you to Craig, owner of the Yarra Valley Touring Co. I was impressed by the quality of the places we went to.

I highly recommend the wine and gin tour with Craig! it was such a good day, listening to Craig's stories and immense knowledge about the wines, the wineries, new things happening in the Yarra Valley. We fit a lot in, but it felt very relaxed. Craig is so passionate about what he does and did all he could to make it a memorable fun and interesting time. We started off at Yering Station and got to sample some of their finest offerings, then onto a sumptuous feast at Meletos. Followed by a stop off at a small winery Yering Farm - sampling their bold, rich wines. Next having a cider paddle outside next to the apple orchards with the sounds of an acoustic guitar track to complete the ambient surrounds, and then the final stop being the infamous 4 pillars, bypassing the waiting queues to go straight in and have their gin paddle with 3 mini G and Ts. The Navy strength Gin was a highlight. Such great value and a really lovely time. My friends and I are looking to do another tour too!

My partner and I had a private tour of the Yarra Valley region with Craig towards the end of February.

Craig organised the itinerary for us, and we saw some of the best sites in the Yarra Valley region. Planning the tour was easy as Craig contacts to confirm the details and is very informative.

Craig is entertaining and very easy to talk to. He knows the Yarra Valley area very well and gave us a both a history of the area and a crash course in wine 101, we like to think we are now novice wine drinkers thanks to Craig. Once he gets to know you a bit better throughout the day, he is more than happy to adjust the tour to make sure you can see the things or taste the wines you really love.
Hands down this was the most enjoyable tour I’ve experienced. I cannot recommend Craig and The Yarra Valley Touring Co enough and the next time we’re back we will definitely book with Craig again. Thanks heaps guys!

We were shown around my Peter, who filled in for Craig. Peter was incredibly kind, funny and knowledgeable about the area. He ran an amazingly organised, bright and flexible tour and was always keen to take some photos and give us personal anecdotes about the areas we visited. The wine tour itself was lovely - the Yarra Valley is truly beautiful and the food and wine is some of the best in VIC. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the best wine the Yarra has to offer with some of the best company. An amazing day.

      Wow what a day!!

First time we have been to the Yarra valley and participated in a wine tour.
Craig was excellent at his job, so knowledgeable about wine and the whole wine making process.
He knew all interesting facts about each and every winery we visited.
He took time to notice what particular wines we were liking the best and was able to very quickly direct us to what we would enjoy.
He was very approachable and has excellent people skills.
He was also really good at pointing out fantastic places to eat and other places to visit while we are staying up here.
His van was extremely clean and comfortable to ride in.

We have had the best day!!!
Thank you Craig, we will return!!

Having Sam, Dan & Dave, the 3 Irish guys, on our Nov. 30th tour was hilarious and you, Craig, handled the resulting mayhem wonderfully, somehow keeping us all on track. You offer a delightful wine tour experience with seemingly little effort and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The winery visits were neatly spaced and we never felt any pressure to hurry up and move on. Thank you: a truly memorable and happy, happy time.

We did the day tour on a Monday with Craig and we were not disappointed. It was great tour and highly recommend going to the wineries during the week to the beat the crowds. He was so welcoming, personable, and extremely knowledgeable on the area and wineries. If you’re in the Yarra valley I would highly recommend this tour.

Although our tour was arranged by our accomodation, you would never have guessed. Craig our tour guide was spot on. The communication was excellent, not only did he message us the previous day for pick up times, he kept in contact when we were allowed out into the wild in Healesville. You could not fault his knowledge of the area and the wines, also showing us some hidden gems which turned out to be our favourite visit of all. Craig is a great guy, with humour and knowledge, as well as his strong relationship with each and every person we met on each stop! He has even offered to do a private tour for us and our friends, picking us up from Melbourne in the future - and we will certainly be taking him up on his offer! Thanks again Craig!

Can’t recommend The Yarra Valley Touring Company enough. Our guide, Craig, was so friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable of the region and wineries we were going to.
He looked after my husband and I on our full day tour when another party of 8 (men!) joined us. Craig made us feel so comfortable amongst the group, always checking in that we were ok, especially me as the only woman. We will definitely be using The Yarra Valley Touring Company again on our next visit to the region, and requesting Craig as our guide for the day.
