An immersive experience in beautiful wetlands
It was a really unique experience to explore Gunbower Forest while it's inundated. Being deep in the forest meant that it was also very peaceful so we could soak in the sights and sounds of the bush. The tour was well planned and allowed us to paddle in different environments (creek, wetland and forest). Morning tea was excellent and the equipment was of high quality. I'd highly recommend this for anyone who loves being immersed in nature and looking for something a bit different.

Deep in the Forest - by kayak
We did the four hour Deep Forest adventure. We are novice kayakers but were able to handle the trip with no problems. Shannon our guide made entry and exit to the water a simple task and provided guidance on navigating through the amazing maze of trees. He also provided a little push when needed. The forest is beautiful, peaceful and unique when in flood. Highly recommended.

      Forest paddle
I went on the Gunbower Deep forest adventure. The trip is just magic, paddling through the flooded forest is a wonderful experience. Well organised and beautifully catered. Our guides, Shannon and Greg, were lovely. The kayaks were comfortable and easy to paddle. Recommend this tour

Do this, you'll never forget the experience
My wife and I paddled Yarran Creek to the Murray River during flooding with Greg as our guide. This is a once in a life-time experience, that you have to work at to time. But Greg and Shannon will work with you. We navigated our way through the flooded forest, sometimes through lime-green duckweed that swirled as we went through. The water is almost black with tannins, makings the reflections of the sky and trees incredible. And Greg is great. He's a wealth of knowledge of both flora and fauna, with over 20 years working in forestry. But if you're not interested in that, he's happy just paddling along at your rate. Plus he serves up a great feed! Can't recommend highly enough.

      Once in a lifetime
This was one of the best things we have ever done. Plus the opportunity doesn't come around all that often. You get to experience the land/water as it might have been thousands of years ago. No sign of other people, just the birds breaking the silence as you glide through the trees, over sunken logs, through the duckweed, following what would normally be a road or over swollen creeks. Quite funny paddling past near submerged road signs and gates. Can't commend the operators highly enough. Shannon and Kate are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and know how to operate a tour. You don't have to be a kayaker to do this trip, they look after everyone. Respectful of the land and the history too. That was important given the important ecological nature of this area. And the lunch they provide is just perfect. If the joint floods again in our lifetime, we'll be back Thanks Shannon and Kate.

      2.5hr Kayak Tour
I cannot recommend this kayak tour highly enough. Greg our tour guide was fantastic, his local & wildlife knowledge was brilliant. Nothing was a problem for him. The kayaks & equipment were in perfect condition and felt totally safe the whole time. We will definitely be doing another tour in the warmer months. The river and wildlife were amazing & peaceful. Well worth doing if you are in the area.

Murray River Adventures- paddling on the Gunbower
Murray River Adventures provided an excellent incentive for ‘locals’ to get out on the spectacular Gunbower Creek this weekend & we were very pleased we took advantage. Brilliant weather for paddling & Greg was a fantastic guide.

Highly knowledgeable guide and fun on the water
We had a great morning out on the water. Greg’s local knowledge is extensive and we learnt a lot about the bird life in this area. We were treated to at least 15 species of birds and even saw a rakali, or Australian water rat. The kayaks were great and easy to get the hang of. The morning tea was an added unexpected bonus. I would recommend this tour to birders and just anyone who wants a fun experience. Thanks Greg.

      Cohuna ecotour
This was a great tour. Greg knew his stuff about birds, plants and the broader river system, including the history of the area regarding water management. Really good equipment and a beautiful morning spent on the water. Suitable for all ages and no previous kayaking experience necessary. And morning tea included home made relish made by Greg's wife! Highly recommended.

      Fabulous kayaking tour
I highly recommend the Murrray River Adventures eco kayaking tour. Greg is a very knowledgeable guide who gave us lots of really interesting information about the birds, fish and broader biodiversity of Gunbower Creek. We had a most enjoyable morning on the water.

      BEST KAYAKING EXPERIENCE!!!!
Booking a tour of the flooded Gunbower forest was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. All equipment was provided along with qualified tour guides. It enabled us to see the beauty of the forest with knowledgeable and experience guides who taught us about the history and ecological significance of the area. Our tour also include a picnic deep within the Gunbower forest. All food was provide and it included delicious home made Raspberry white-choc macadamia muffins and a hot chocolate. It really hit the spot! The staff at Murray River Adventures are truly AMAZING! They were willing to answer all my questions and even helped jump start my car! Definitely want to go back to this beautiful part of Australia soon

      Perfect place to paddle
What a beautiful creek to go kayaking in. The kayaks are first class and the service is excellent. Very quiet spot, no boats unless you go further up the creek, but the kayaks are so stable that boats aren’t a problem. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hours. Go to Factory and Field Waffles after for delicious waffles.

Greg was an amazing guide, so patient with the children (age 11 & 13), set the boys up so they were comfortable in their kayaks for the 3 hour paddle. He was a wealth of knowledge about the local landscape and the surrounding bird life. The children were engaged the entire time. They enjoying having the freedom to paddle at their own pace and catch up to learn or see something interesting.
We stopped half way through the tour to have a delicious afternoon tea with cheese and fruit.
The kayaks glided through the water with ease, paddling felt effortless, the 3 hours passed so quickly. The children described the tour as "the best ever".
Thanks Greg for an amazing experience. Definitely love to do this again.

An amazing couple of hours paddling through serene waters with beautiful trees, reeds and abundant bird life in Reedy Lagoon. Our great and informative guide Greg took us on a wonderful tour and supplied us with a delicious morning tea which we ate in the forest, surrounded by majestic River Red gums & birds, including a Sacred Kingfisher. Definitely an experience well worth doing, even if you have never been in a kayak before!

A fabulous experience was enjoyed on the 3 hour kayak Eco Tour. Greg was an excellent guide with well informed local knowledge that ensured our trip was a great experience. The Gunbower Creek is exceptionally beautiful, a gentle kayak and would be possible for any age/level of experience. Our day out was 100% a fabulous outing, well supported and we were lucky with the ideal weather conditions as well.

What an amazing experience. My husband and I enjoyed a kayak tour with our wonderful guide Greg in April Greg went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and enjoyed our experience. Greg shared his local knowledge of the area and surrounding wildlife which really elevated the tour. Topped off with a tasty morning tea with fruit, cheese and Greg's wife's delicious home made pickles (which I just had to get the recipe for!)
As two larger people who do not kayak often, we really enjoyed our morning out on the water. Greg did a great job of suiting the tour to us and listened to what we wanted to do/see.
The kayaks themselves were the best we have ever used and were really impressed with the quality overall.

On a glorious sunny, still morning, we glided along the Gunbower, with our guide giving expert commentary on the river and its birdlife. He provided a delicious smorgasbord morning tea on a grassy bank and then we returned, looking at the river from the opposite direction. Really well-organized, and don't be at all put off if you've never been in a kayak before.
