    5/5 Old Town Chania Tour
Wonderful tour — would highly recommend to anyone who wants a casual, personal guide of Old Town. We sampled local products, enjoyed amazing views and learned the history of the town over a leisurely 2.5 hours stroll through the city. Our tour guide was incredible — so friendly and knowledgeable.

    Old city tour with family
We had the tour with our young children and the guide was very patient with us. However we did not feel that she enjoyed guiding us through the old city and did not give the impression that she mastered the history of the city. Overall we felt that the visit is not worth the money.

Wonderful way to learn about Chania
We loved our tour with Goldie! She told us so much about the city, gave us great tastings and lunch and was very considerate with our children. Great way to learn about Chania in a well paced tour.

    Walking tour of Chania!
Aria was amazing! It was great to see Chania from a local’s perspective and she brought us to places we surely would have missed. Her recommendations and insights were valuable. We had such a fun time walking around with Aria and highly recommend the tour.

    Expert Planning
I organized a group tour of Crete this summer and was lucky enough to discover Alma de Creta. They not only provided us with suggestions for our guests, but they also helped organize transportation, made reservations, and helped our group seamlessly navigate some tricky transfers and a very full itinerary. Kelly and Aliki were an absolute delight. They were very helpful when we were stuck and even helped us troubleshoot when issues came up and we needed to make a change on the fly. I provided their info to my guests, and several of them booked additional tours, transfers, or other reservations. If you’re planning a trip to Creta, you should absolutely connect with Kelly and Aliki. They will make your vacation planning easy.

    Fun morning of Discovery
Goldie was very knowledgeable, not only about Chania but also enlighten us with stories in Mythology at a lovely local tapas and beer cafe. It was a great way to get a true feel for this beautiful old town.

We highly recommend Theodore and Alma de Creta for private tours.
We had Theodore as our driver for our tours of Knossos and the mountain villages and he was terrific. Very knowledgeable ( a former history teacher), personable and attentive to us and our wants and needs. We highly recommend him.

    Wonderful tour
Our guide was Sophia, and she is incredible! She is very knowledgeable, very kind, and finds out what you want to focus on at the beginning. If you want a lot of walking, have food preferences, etc… and we had a personalized day with her excellent guidance. This was worth every Euro! This is one of the best tours we have ever been on, including our trip to Mediterranean, to Canada, and Alaska. We will always remember this day fondly.

    Best tour of our trip
Sophia was a fantastic guide. She was very knowledgeable, she taught us some Greek words, took us through all the sections of the old town but did it by including cool back routes, and talked to us the whole way. She knows good places to shop and helped us find the gifts we were looking for. We had a small meal at a place favored by locals instead of by tourists, which was very quiet and tasty.

    A perfect port day!
This was a perfect way to explore Chania Old Town. Our private tour guide Chryssa (so?) was highly knowledgeable and had a delightful personality. The tour included an excellent cafe lunch with our guide, and it gave us a chance to really get to know her and learn more about Crete history and culture. We really can’t think of a way to better spend a port day than with this tour.

    So worth it!
Russos gave us a wonderful private tour of Crete. He listened closely to what we were looking for and gave us great experiences of the people and places of Crete. We visited an olive orchard during harvest, saw the production of olive oil and tasted some fresh off the line! Saw Byzantinze era frescos in a private chapel. Learned about the history of Crete and its culture. Many good stories with wonderful people and delicious Cretan food. Highly recommend!

Outstanding 4 days of touring around Crete
We had an amazing four days on Crete with Roussos. He tailored our stay to our specific interests, was flexible when we requested changes, but made sure to include all the important sites. From our base in Chania, we spent our first day hiking though Imbros Gorge and then moved on to the beach in Loutro, which we reached by private boat. Day 2 included a tour of mountain villages. Day 3 was all about beaches. On day 4 we toured Rethymno and Heraklion as we transferred to Elounda. We were so impressed with Roussos’s guidance throughout our stay, making our visit educational, fun and safe. The roads on Crete can be challenging at times, and we were impressed with Roussos’s driving skill. Throughout, Roussos made all the arrangements, never missing a small detail. He made sure we sampled all the local cuisine and also took care to arrange great restaurants in the evening. (Roussos is a true foodie!) We developed a true friendship in our time together, a real bonus we were not expecting. We highly recommend Roussos for any experience you are looking for on Crete.

    Great walking tour!
We are so grateful that we did this private tour. Our guide, Chrysa (Goldy) was amazing—animated, informative, upbeat and cheerful. We had such a great time and it really increased our understanding of the historic section of Hania.

Incredible Tour of the Old Town
Sophia was an incredible tour guide. She was so nice and accommodating. It felt like we got to see the entire old town by the end of the tour. Would highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience and tour of beautiful Chania. Our guide Erofili was exceptional and the private tour made it feel like we were seeing an old friend and learning about her home city. Would 100% recommend this. So much food and worth the price.

My husband and I spent 5 nights in Chania. Our hotel recommended the tours from Alma de Creta. We had two excellent tours. For our private food tour, our guide Aria met us at our hotel and immediately began to explore our food likes and chosen restaurants. We found her charming and very easy to be with. She was very flexible and never seemed hurried. When we showed an interest in a market stop, she intoduced us to the owner and allowed us time to explore, taste and question. We loved all the local places and eating with the locals at their morning stop. The four hours went by very quickly. Remember to come a bit hungry,(no breakfast) to fully enjoy the tour. I recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys exploring local foods.

Sophia was fabulous. Lots of history along with great food and tips on other places to visit during our stay. We had a car so Sophia had all kids of information on things to add to our itinerary - olive oil tour and hikes and great restaurant recommendations nearby. Highly recommended!

Roussos was very informative and he really knew a lot about Chania. He was able to share with me the history of the city as well as show me around the hidden streets. It was nice to understand the history of the city through the architecture built within. Most of all, the different food that we tried was so good, especially the gyros which I will never forget and will keep dreaming of till I am back in Chania. Thank you!

I recommend to do this on the first day in Chania- it just gives you so much insight to the city. Plus, Roussos knows all the best restaurants and you need all the time you need to try them out. ;)

Best 200 Euro's spent on the trip. It was worth every penny. The whole experience from the online booking onwards was excellent.
We were a group of 3: my wife, daughter (7) and I. We were greeted by our tour guide Sofia just outside the old city near the new market at about 10 am. Sofia was so lively, knowledgeable and caring. We first did a few places outside the old city which included tasting typical breakfast dishes (Bougatsa), coffee, pies and cheeses etc. By this point, we were pretty stuffed.
Then we started heading to the old city where we spent a good amount of walking, burning off the stuff we ate in the morning. Sofia pretty much walked us through the entire history of the Chania, and took us to many historic places, churches, old mosques, synagogues, old Turkish bath houses, historic buildings turned into cafes etc. We stopped at a few shops along the way. We were never rushed and she was super helpful with recommendations.
Then at about 1 pm we went to get Gyros and then desserts. Everything we ate was delicious.
The entire tour took about 4 hours. So it's a good amount of walking. But given it's at your own pace it was totally manageable even for my daughter. Also note that even though this is a food tour, there is a fair bit of non-food-related walking involved. Which IMO was a good welcome break between breakfast and lunch.

Special kudos to Sofia who was super awesome and was helping us even after the tour for the next couple of days with recommendations and with reservations. That I am pretty sure was not a part of the package, but speaks to the true good nature of people in Chania.

Definitely recommend this tour. Especially to do it at the beginning of your stay at Chania. It's a great way to get to know the city, understand the food, and different cultures that had once influenced this beautiful place, and get recommendations for what is local.

Brilliant tour…not just delicious food & drink to try & so much of it (we didn’t eat much more for the rest of the day!) but such interesting history of Chania too as we walked the sights & undiscovered areas in Chania. Goldy was a brilliant tour guide…informative, entertaining & appeared to tailor the tour to where our interests lay!
She was very personable, mindful & attentive of what we wanted & our needs, had a real passion for the city, it’s history & Greek mythology & was an amazing source of information! Thank you Goldy. Thoroughly recommended!

The Chania street food tour was DELICIOUS and informative. Eat a light breakfast and plan on a light dinner because I was quite full by the end of this tour. The food tastes varied from sweet to savory, some common and some unique to the Cretian diet. The walk was at a leisurely pace and not strenuous. Since the central market was closed for renovation, the tour took us through different parts of old and new Chania. Kelly was the best guide ever. She provided an excellent perspective on food and gave a great history of Chania and Crete. She blended all the information together seamlessly and effortlessly as if we were just having a friendly conversation. Not scripted at all. Answered all of our questions and filled in the conversation with interesting topics we didn't know to ask. A very enjoyable tour

We spent 4 hours with the excellent Sophia who led us through the streets of Chania to the various stops where there was more than ample beautiful Cretan food of all sorts to try (and some raki of course!). She also gave us lots of information about the language, arts & crafts, culture and history of Chania as we meandered around the narrow streets of the Old town. Definitely a highlight of our holiday! Thank you Sophia

I highly recommend doing this tour or any other activities offered by Alma de Creta on your very first day on Crete! Not only will you get to enjoy an informative day eating and exploring your way around Chania’s historic streets, you will also get enough tips from knowledgeable Roussos to last you for many days to come. Using his helpful map we went back to many recommended restaurants and cafes in the coming days and all of them were spot on. We also stayed in touch with Roussos and Aliki throughout our trip on Crete and they’ve been extremely helpful in so many ways. I would book another activity with them in a heartbeat on our next trip to this beautiful island!

Booked the food tour for my father’s birthday and it did not disappoint! The guide was very informativen and gave a great overview of the history of Chania. All the Cretan food sampled at the different stops was amazing and we had so much food during the tour there was no need to eat for the rest of the day! A definite must if visiting Chania.
