About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 309cathyh0 contributionsA great morning to spend with your grandchildren. This is a great activity to do with primary age children. My grandkids had a great time. The guide was engaging. The activities were appropriate for kids. The hot lemon myrtle tea was a great start to the day. Eating crab after pulling the mud crabs out of the traps was great. Queenslanders - be careful of the timing. The first email said they operate on NSW time and the second that they operate on Qld time. Fortunately, the park where you meet had plenty to occupy the children during our 2-hour wait.Written 13 October 2024

- thejourney20140 contributionsbeautiful and graceful private charter on Captain BillsWe chartered captain Bills for our silver wedding anniversary and were delighted with the entire experience . The crew was so helpful and friendly--supportive without being intrusive. We brought in our own private catering but were impressed with their well stocked licensed bar.with local craft beers, wines and local distilled spirits. We blue-toothed our music to their system and had a lovely 3 hour cruise on the tranquil Tweed river.. At one point it began to drizzle and they quickly unrolled the plastic window shades and as soon as the sun came out , they rolled them up again. They couldn't do enough to make it a special event for us. Prior to our trip, they were helpful answering all questions and quick ot actioning any requirements we had. It was an experience we will remember for all the right reasons. The staff from Tweed Eco Cruises made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped on the boat and everything was very well organised. Great decor, delicious food, and perfectly chilled complimentary bubbles sitting in ice waiting for us. We were lucky with the weather as it was a sunny day with light winds so cruising along the river with music playing in the background was a delight! The colours on the river at sunset with Mt Warning in the background was magical. All our friends are still talking about the great experience they had on the cruise and can’t wait until they do another one. Such a relaxing, fun thing to do! I highly recommend it.Written 2 October 2022

Our organisation booked the Cultural Cruise with Arabella Douglas from Currie Country Indigenous Tours. It was a fabulous experience! The boat easily fitted 16 of us on comfortable, shaded seating around tables with the most delicious locally produced food. Arabella shared her deep wisdom, knowledge and cultural pride with us on our journey on the Tweed river. Stopping for a swim in the cool, clear water was a bonus experience we all enjoyed.
I highly recommend this for any event such as groups of friends, special occasions, staff wellbeing, cultural learning, and local connection.

What a fantastic afternoon! Beautiful weather, stunning scenery, excellent food and great hosts. The platter alone was a taste sensation! The crew were great and the local information/commentary from Muz was really interesting, as was the feeding of the pelican’s, kites and sea eagle. This will remain on our things to do list when we have more family visiting us in the future. Many thanks guys.

.
We arrived on time to be greeted and checked in by a very pleasant young lady who had rung us earlier to check we were coming.
The passengers were then taken down to the Swan, an older style large river cruiser in top condition, which had a comfortable spacious cabin with allocated tables at entry level and a sheltered top deck where a better view was available.
We headed off to explore the beautiful Tweed River after a safety briefing.
It helped that it was a corker of a day as we cruised up river. An interesting commentary was provided by the skipper about the history of the environs, and its settlers as well as the riverside features. The bar was open during the trip. I saw a ray cut across the bows as we entered the main channel and black swans with cygnets. Osprey nests were pointed out en route.
We arrived at the rain forest island after about 1 1/2 hours and saw bird feeding of kites and others including a sea eagle.
We headed for home and lunch was served.
A home made ploughman’s quiche (or perhaps pie) of ham and veges and cold meats and large prawns were all delicious. We shared a dozen well priced oysters as well.
On the way back 5 dolphins cruised under the bow riding the bow wave - an amazing sight that the passengers were able to view. We arrived back on time at 3 well satisfied with the trip and in no need of dinner that evening.
Thoroughly recommend this trip.

Company should refund or postpone bookings if inclement weather. We could not enjoy the scenery from decks as too windy and wet and windows obscured with rain. No birds were feeding either as too wet. Couldn't hear commentary as other passengers talking loudly. We travelled a long way for this and was disappointed.
For the price we paid we expected more than 3 prawns each and a small platter of cold meat, cheese and unappetising quiche. Heard that a few people pulled out at the last minute because of the rain but still had to pay, so you would think we would've got some extra food (more than 3 prawns)as they would have been catered for, but the staff was noted peeling a big bowl of prawns for themselves before our lunch.??
At least include a complementary drink for the price, even a soft drink!

Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate all customers who take the time to summarise their experience. If the weather is unsafe then we cancel our trips - safety is our number one factor in deciding to operate. Please rest assured that should there be a need to cancel, we will. Rain however doesn't impact our safety, and in fact makes the Riparian Rainforest at Stotts Island more lush. While we understand that it is not the ideal weather some people imagine, it is actually a safe and dry way to see the Tweed River and many guests are happy to still be able to travel as they had planned. Last week we received a few of these comments, which was lovely! We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied.
The lower deck of our vessel is completely enclosed with windows all around, keeping guests safe and dry from the elements. We can't control the direction or speed of the rain, although we wish we could! If the front or one side of the vessel has poor visibility then this switches when the vessel turns around for it's return journey, allowing all guests an opportunity to see the shore from somewhere onboard.
We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your lunch! We often get great reviews on the local produce we serve on board, and often receive comments on there being too much to eat! Did you ask the staff for additional prawns? If we have them on board, in the case of no show guests as you said, we don't place these out as there may not be enough for everyone to receive extras - and we also don't want to waste product, as we value the environment and sustainability too!
We are disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy your time on board, and if you wish to contact us with your booking details we would be happy to look at offering a credit for the future on one of our other itineraries.
We hope to hear from you soon, and thank you again!

The boat trip was large and comfortable. Fortunately, their were less customers than seats. The food was of a high standard and the crew all made us feel very welcome. The onboard commentary was atrocious. He started with a long, drawn out acknowledgement of a certain group of Australians and then he proceeded to tell a lot of exaggerations and untruths about what this group did or did not do. I cannot name the group or say what the stories involved because when I do so I am censored by this site. Let me just say there was only acknowledgement and stories about one group of people at the expense of all others. If they were more inclusive, they would create a much better experience.

Thank you for your feedback, Mark. Our commentary talks about lots of different eras of peoples in the area - traditional inhabitants, immigrants, the logging industry that was spearheaded by the colonies, and even the current fishing industry. We include facts and stories from a range of time periods and perspectives - all done with respect. This information we present comes from a range of research, books, and accounts of the people from that time.
We appreciate you joining us, and are very glad to hear you enjoyed the food and cruise. But we will not be leaving out the Indigenous history of this area in our commentary. We are proud to partner with the Bundjalung and Minjungbal people and share their stories.

There are few attractions for the elderly but this is perfect. Although older ourselves we found it, well a little boring but I think the demographic is much older than us. It is a shame they do not have a stop any more, that would have been really good. The lunch was fine, quiche, cheese, salami, ham and fruit plus prawns on the side. It was a very young man doing most of the work who didn’t engage with anyone, guess he is still learning. No birds of prey showed up. 60s music played, again reflecting the general age group. It was a nice cruise but not really our thing, but then it obviously suits others well.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience. We appreciate your honest review and value your perspective.
We understand that different individuals have different preferences and interests, and we apologise if the cruise did not fully meet your expectations. We strive to create an enjoyable experience for all age groups, but we recognise that our demographic may skew towards an older audience.
We apologise for any disappointment regarding the absence of a stop during the cruise. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing flood impacts on our community and subsequently our river, the river bed is too silted for our boat to make it that far up the river.
We're glad to hear that you found the lunch to be satisfactory with a variety of options. However, we apologise if the staff member who was primarily assisting did not engage with the guests. We will address this internally to ensure better customer service in the future.
Regarding the birds of prey, wildlife sightings can vary from cruise to cruise, and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee their presence. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Lastly, we appreciate your feedback about the music selection. We aim to provide a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere for all guests, and we take into consideration the preferences of our audience. We will review our music choices to ensure a wider range of options.
Thank you for your understanding and for sharing your thoughts. We hope to have the opportunity to better meet your expectations in the future.

We had a group of 12 'seniors' for a cousins' reunion at Coolangatta with family from Victoria, NSW, Qld, and decided this might be a decent way to spend the day. Well, what a fantastic day it was too! Relaxed, casual atmosphere with great commentary and beautiful scenery. We could easily move around and chat to people in different areas of the boat. The locally sourced food platter was delicious as were the prawns. Staff were so friendly and helpful. That evening everyone raved on about what a wonderful experience we had on the cruise. We 'locals' had no prior knowledge about the cruise but would now highly recommend it to either tourists or locals, as it was such an informative and visually spectacular day. Great work Tweed Eco Cruises!

Thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. Informative commentary of natural and historical features. The lunch catered for GF and vegetarian diets. Ample food was served by cheerful crew. A bar service was available for those who wanted a drink. Accessible toilets on board and easy access up the gangway to the boat for less abled passengers. The selection of music was remarked on - not too loud and mellow jazz and blues. This was appreciated on the return journey when we wanted to rest and enjoy the boat gliding along the river. Plenty of free parking next to the dock.
More chairs on the dock where we waited to board would have been appreciated. This also applied on the partially covered top deck where some people had to stand. There was plenty of seating at tables on the main deck which is inside for those who preferred it.

Your feedback regarding the chairs on the dock and the upstairs deck has been noted. Whilst there is limited space available in the waiting area next to the office, we are looking into the possibility to add more seats.
We hope to welcome you on board again some time in the future!

From the start the crew did everything they could to welcome us on board & make us feel comfortable. The weather was not great so we were restricted to being inside most of the trip up the river to Tumbulgum. A little negative was that we were told we only had about half an hour to explore this quaint little village, so we rushed back to the jetty to find the break ended up being over an hour. However the delicious bbq lunch made up for any negatives. We would have liked a little more commentary on the history of the river & surrounds, but this was probably due to our very large & noisy group booking. Overall, a lovely way to spend a day.

Thanks for you review, and the feedback you have given is fantastic, I will definitely pass on to the crew your comments and discuss the commentary on busy days how they can handle that better. Tumbulgum stopover, is beautiful little village, we get a mix response to short to long, but we could of been more accurate with a time we told you. Appreciate your feedback and honesty, we look forward to to having you on board again.
