About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- allij20160 contributionsA perfect day out!We loved our tour with Bill! It was such a perfect day, covering everything we could have asked for and more. Bill's knowledge and easy going nature had us enjoying our day from the beginning, the Stone and Wood Tour and the Distillery Tour were both absolutely fantastic. One of the highlights for us was the lunch at Barrio, which was made possible by Bill's connection to the place and it gave us the chance to enjoy the most delicious meal. Not having to drive and being able to make the most of all the tastings and more made the day all the better! Thanks for a wonderful tour!Written 16 May 2021
- Virg360 contributionsEnjoyable, delicious and interesting day out with Bill from Tasting Plate toursEnjoyable day out with the very enthusiastic and knowledgeable Bill from Tasting Plate tours. Delicious lunch, gin, rum and cocktails, sustainable farming and beautiful countryside. Would highly recommend.Written 29 April 2021
- Bob B0 contributionsA chill and informative tour.Stone & Wood tour, very informative and lots of samples. The Farm was a great way to spend some time in an area of Byron we would not normally visit. Bill was very knowledgeable on farming techniques. Lunch was enjoyable in a local restaurant and then off to the gin distillary. Another informative tour by a passionate tour guide after sipping on a Gin and tonic and a visit through their rainforest. Plenty of time to sample their different gins. A well paced day with a great tour guide, would highly recommend.Written 24 April 2021
- chris09930 contributionsGreat day out cheers!Highly recommend doing this tour. We had already been to plenty of places around the region, but Bill’s enthusiasm and knowledge made it all the better. We did a beer tasting tour, delicious lunch and a distillery tasting. Great fun and value!Written 31 March 2021
- G169UQkirstys0 contributionsFine dining, fine wine, fine region - A must do!As locals, we never get to really appreciate where we live. We have visited this area many times and had no idea about some of the places we went to. We live on the GC and stayed at Casurina and we in a group of 4. Bill is great tour guide and its his own business so he passionate about everything. From the walk or the organic farm and sunflowers and meeting Geroge, (the biggest pig you will ever see) to Taverna for fresh squid and char-grilled octopus and matching wine, to the 5 dishes at Finns again with matching to the impressive Gin Tasting at Husk, you really couldn't want for a better day. Its sounds like a busy day, but its really not. It's done at the perfect pace to not only enjoy but relax while you take it all in. We have done many tours and know what is good and what is not, so If you like fine food and seeing some really cool places with great history you will enjoy this tour.Written 21 March 2021
- donnarC6693GD0 contributionsFood and Beverage HeavenA huge thank you to Bill for an amazing day of great company, conversation, experience and well informed knowledge of the region. Coffee at a Farm and Harvest cafe sitting near the sunflowers and natural harvest, a visit to the Art Deco area's, scenic tour and information, fruits aplenty followed by a beautiful lunch at Mavis's Kitchen. More touring, then to the Rum and Gin distillery, samples and cocktails. Totally awesome day! We will definitely be using Tasting Plate Tours again doing a different tour to see more of the beautiful, restful and inspiring regions of the Northern Rivers of NSW .Written 20 March 2021
- U181NBgregj0 contributionsByron Farmland Foodie TourWow what a day , hard to find words to accurately describe the exceptional day of touring the Byron Hinterland foodie destinations that was hosted by the knowledgeable and personable Bill. Many highlights and if pressured to nominate one then the picnic lunch at Barefoot farm gets my vote. Can’t recommend these entertainers highly enough.Written 8 March 2021
- 573sashak0 contributionsThe REAL Byron Bay experienceWhether a 1st time visitor to the far North Coast of NSW or a seasoned traveller - you NEED to take a tour of the region with Bill and his Tasting Plate Tour team! The "tour" (if you want to call it that) felt as if we were catching up with an old friend who had moved to the region all those years ago and is showing us around his backyard. From the fact-bombs of the area to the locals we bumped in to, to the quirky facts about each location we visited....we left the day with so many eye opening stories to share with our fellow Sydney-siders about the area many simply call Byron Bay.....although its so SO much more...and the best way to experience it all (the food, drink, art and culture) if you dont know where to go...is with someone like Bill and his team! Do yourselves a favour - book one, book five...just head up north and experience the area through the eyes of one of the locals.Written 7 March 2021
- HughD19590 contributionsGin junkies heaven, with a cleanser to followA great day out. Can’t think of a better think to do on a rainy Saturday! Informative in multiple ways, good food, gin & beer. Excellent value, just turn up and enjoy it.Written 12 December 2020
- Paul H0 contributionsA great day out!We enjoyed a wonderful day exploring the Northern Rivers region, taking in the production of local food, the art scene, local restaurants, the magnificent scenery and a local gin and rum distillery. Bill, our driver for the day, was a fountain of knowledge on everything about the local region and was great company. We learnt so much about an area that previously we had travelled through without understanding what truly lay around us. The vibrant food industry was a revelation and this was reinforced with a delicious lunch at Mavis’s Kitchen. We finished the afternoon with a tour and sampling at Musk Distillery. A great day out!Written 19 November 2020
- lof7470 contributionsFriendly and knowledgeable guideBill is extremely knowledgeable and brought us to different parts of the tweed region where we went to brewery and distillery, along with farm and art museum, wonderful day spent with him and will definitely recommend my friends who will be going to Byron region to join his tour.Written 16 October 2020
- Catherine E0 contributionsGreat day exploring the food offerings in the hinterlandWe had a lovely day touring the beautiful hinterland between Kingscliff and Byron. Bill is a passionate advocate for all of the beautiful produce and food experiences in the region, and shared his knowledge and "secret places" with us. The highlight was the fantastic picnic smorgasbord from Harvest Deli in Newrybar, eaten in a quiet and tranquil pecan orchard, and enjoyed with some delightful sparkling wine. And a beer sampling at Stone and Wood in Byron was a terrific way to top off the day. Thanks Bill!Written 15 October 2020
- GIS_Eng0 contributionsA great day in the countrysideBill was our intrepid driver and knowledgeable guide on this fantastic day. The lunch at Harvest was delicious and different from any fare we have had the good fortune to try. Brookies Gin Palace (and distillery) was fantastic - bought two bottles of dry gin and one of the Slow (sloe) gin.Enjoyed the rainforest walk and native bees swarming on the balcony! Morning tea at Burringbar with coffee and delicious chocolate brownie was a good indicator for a relaxing day of good food and conversation.Written 1 March 2020
- michaelmT5318CJ0 contributionsExcellent tourMy husband and I enjoyed a fantastic day touring this beautiful part of the world. Bill, our chauffeur and tour guide shared a wealth of knowledge about the history and rich diversity of the region. We were treated to some amazing food experiences with an emphasis on paddock to plate. The distillery tour was very interesting, along with the gin and rum sampling, and we topped the day off with a lovely cocktail on our way home. Great showcase of what this region has to offer.Written 29 February 2020
- kagd20200 contributionsTasting Plate TourAbsolutely the best value gourmet food, wine & spirit tour in the region. We were chauffeured in a luxury vehicle through stunning scenery to hidden gems. Our every need was met and more.Written 23 February 2020

We visited Mavis restaurant and Husk Distillery and Farmco. My partner has lived in the area for over 20 years and both of us learned a lot about the area. Thoroughly enjoyable day. Would definitely recommend it.
