Exceptional experience at Soul Surf School! The instructors are not only passionate about surfing but also incredibly skilled at imparting their knowledge. Staff was super friendly and the personalized attention and constructive feedback ensure rapid improvement. Can highly recommend to anyone who wants to try surfing first time or improve their surfing skills further.

Soul surf school is extremely professional and all the instructors are passionate and very knowledgeable. I felt like I was progressing even before getting into the water. They are all actively interested in your progression as well. I chose to do the 3 days of lessons and came away each day with a wealth of new knowledge and could feel that I was progressing. I couldn’t fault anything about the lessons I had with them. Thanks to the school and the coaches, Ive come away feeling more confident in my surfing ability. I wish I’d booked more days with them.

We had so much fun with you guys!! And we had the best instructors ever! Alex and Rodrigo were amazing, they helped us a lot and they transmited so much confidence! It was my first time surfing but thanks to you it won’t be the last.

Very disappointed in all aspects. We found them online and messaged the number provided - to this day (over a month later) still no response. Happened into the shop where we were "greeted" (ignored completely) by one woman for a lengthy period... eventually another very young woman attempted to assist us, but clearly she had no idea about much at all. If she did, or if the shop had any ethics, when asked for advice, she would have said "today is not a good day for a beginner to hire a board for the first time, as the weather and water conditions are completely wrong for that, and you will have a truly awful time out there, why don't you save your hard-earned money and come back tomorrow". After an exhausting time trying to battle the hideous conditions (and more bad advice from local life"guards"), trudged back up the hill and crossed the road, into the shop to return the boards... After some more ignoring by yet another foreign blonde woman, were told we were supposed to wash the gear before returning it. When asked where this could be done, we were told to go back to the beach. Not a super long walk but we were so exhausted by this time... and perhaps they might have mentioned this requirement BEFORE we took the boards out?!! No apology, just more arrogant attitude. Very unprofessional, ignorant and unhelpful. At least the young one was pleasant enough to deal with, which definitely cannot be said of the other 2! To top off a crappy time, afterward we noticed another board hire place had much better prices !

We had Caleb & Stephanie for our private surf group lessons and they were just great. Encouraging, fun & amazing with the kids. The kids now want to continue surfing, thanks to them. Highly recommend!

We had a great time surfing with Matt, Harry and Steph at Lennox. Good teaching and well organised lesson. We will go back surfing with them next time we visit Byron Bay.

We had a great time in the group course! The instructors were super friendly and motivated and we also learned a lot in only about 3 hours. Would definetely do it again and we are sad, that we don't have the time to do a longer course!

For an old bloke who’s managed 53 years without surfing, this first lesson ended up with me standing up. The guys teaching us were great and really encouraging. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to give it a go.

Had a 2 hour private lesson with Andy. Everything was great, felt really comfortable and he gave some great tips that I’ll be using when I surf alone next time.

I took a group surf class at a SoulSurf in Byron Bay in March 2023 and was impressed with the quality of the instruction and the overall experience. From the knowledgeable instructors to the well-maintained equipment, everything was top-notch. By the end of the class, I had caught several waves and felt much more comfortable on my board. I had such a fulfilling lesson with Soul Surf School. My goal was to stand up on the board by the end of the 120 minutes, but my wonderful instructor Tinus was such a great teacher that I achieved my goal in the first 20 minutes! Tinus ensured that I felt safe, seen, supported, challenged and engaged for the entire experience and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from him! This was a total highlight of my time in Byron Bay and I highly recommend Soul Surf School for anyone considering giving surfing a try!

It was a great experience. The instructors were really patient and chill. The waves were really suitable waves for beginners and so it worked out pretty well. I'd recommend Soul Surf School to everyone who wants to get it started with surfing.

Really good instructors - kind, helpful and patient. We went to a quiet beach with beginner friendly waves and saw dolphins.

It was super fun and safe!!! The instructors were attentive at all times :) felt like I improved a lot. Super steez !!! (learned Aussie slang too) The car rides are also very nice, with cool tunes and sunscreen for everyone, we also changed locations from time to time, that was nice.
