We did a surf lesson with Gaz and Sam and had the best time. They made sure we learnt the correct techniques, taught us surf etiquette, surf safety and got us out there helping us catch every wave. They have a great sense of humor and made the whole lesson so much fun. Highly recommend them if this is something you’ve been thinking of doing whilst in Byron.

Gaz and his team are very competent instructors. We had a lot of personalised coaching during our lesson. There were 3 instructors in the water with us. So no one needed to wait around to catch learn how to surf. We had a group session with another company in Byron Bay the day before which had only 1 instructor in the water for 7 students with them we had ended up waiting a lot. Gaz and his team are super friendly, and humorous! They provide an amazing service.

What an amazing experience! Gaz and his team are professional, patient, have a great sense of humour. I took surf classes 3 times with Style Surf. Our first time out there were basically no waves and Gaz was true to his word and refunded us our money after our dry land instructions. About 3 weeks later we signed up for another surf lesson and were able to catch waves! We had so much fun we went back for another lesson the next day! By the end of each lesson we felt confident catching waves on our own :) Gaz and his team are very committed to making sure that you are learning the correct surf skills and very encouraging in the water! Definitely surf with Style!!

Wow, this experience was awsome. Gaz is very professional and very good with teenagers. Got my 2 screen addicted teenagers to start surfing right from the start. Great teacher and a wonderfull location, suitable for beginners and intermediate level surfers. I highly recommend style surfing for anyone wishing to start their surfing experience.

Me and my son had an excellent beginners' lesson with Gaz and David. They taught us everything we needed and helped us to get on our boards right from the start. We couldn't believe how easy it was with the instructors until we later tried surfing on our own and found it really hard. Good value for money as they only had five students / instructor. At least we got enough personal assistance along the way. Will definitely try surfing again.

Gaz is a Byron legend and is definitely your best bet for learning quickly and properly. Booking was easy, pricing is extremely competitive and Gaz knows everything to help you at any stage. Really appreciate that he's ASI accredited and teaches their methods.

Gaz and his team did a great lesson with our teen and tween kids up at Bryon. The kids were up on the boards with little experience and had a fabulous morning. When on child was cold he went and got a wetsuit to keep her in the water. Patient, cheeky and a good sense of humour! Recommend Gaz and the crew.

Although I won’t become a professional surfer anytime soon, I feel like I left this experience with the tricks and safety tips to practice on my own! The safety part of this school was great, unfortunately we did have some younger participants in our group (total 7 ppl), which was challenging for us and our instructors David and Sam. Our pick up was 10 mins late but we did go a little later than our three hour time slot which was appreciated especially after we had to move locations because another surf school (Let’s Go Surfing) set up with about 50 kids right beside us!!! Bad surfing etiquette. All the little kids in our way was very frustrating so our instructors moved us all to another part of the beach where we were finally able to catch some great waves!! (The first spot they moved us was just too dangerous, bigger waves than us beginners should handle so they moved us again). Both our instructors were super and friendly and they even dropped us off nice and close to our caravan park which was much appreciated after three hours of surfing! Great surfing school...but just had a bit of a frustrating experience due to circumstance beyond anyone’s control! I definitely recommend this company for anyone starting out that like a little structure and safety!!

I recently had 3 consecutive days of surf lessons with David and had the best time! At the end of day one, I could confidently stand and surf the wave, at the end of day three, I am now confident to go out surfing on my own with no issues. David came and picked me up from my accomodation in Byron each day and dropped me home - super convenient! They also provided all equipment including wetsuit, rash vest and surfboard. Gaz and David are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet with a wealth of surfing knowledge and really easy personalised instructions to make you the best surfer you can be. We surfed right in the heart of Byron Bay and only small groups each day, meaning the instructors had plenty of time to spend with you one-on-one. Thank again guys!!

Most deffinitly recommend style surfing byron bay for surf lessons. Good value for money and great instructors. Dave was the instructor for my first lesson and he puts in alot of effort with everyone, giving each individual tips and pointers to help them out. Determined to stay standing up i went back for a second lesson the next day. Both gaz and dave were on that lesson, gaz also puts in a lot of effort with each individual. With more tips from both of them, i finally got to stay standing up. Even if your struggling the guys wont give up and if nothing else gazs one liners will still make the lessons worth while.

I had the best week from my 5 weeks in australia with you gaz and david. Even if the waves weren't as they normally are, you picket always the best spots. Every minute was filled with moments to learn morn. Thank you so much for this unforgetable days, I will be back shure as soon as possible. If you want to surf, you MUST contact Gaz and the crew at Byron Bay Style Surf School. I'm a 48 year old Dad and had 2 lessons, the 2nd with my 13 year old daughter. We BOTH emerged as surfers, with Gaz encouraging & entertaining us (he's hilarious) along the way. It was FUN. Gaz & Dave (top guy) not only have vast experience and local knowledge, but were genuinely dedicated to getting everyone surfing at least once, with a 100% hit rate. We also learned a lot about local conditions and surf safety (Gaz is a 30+ year Australian Life Saver). Go for it! As Gaz says, 'Happy Days'!

It was my dream to learn surfing while being in Australia and thanks to a friend's recommendation I ended up over here. Byron Bay is a very professional school, the instructors are skilled, was fun to see them surfing in the early morning, but they are very experienced, so don't get overmotivated. Took me 1 day to stay and 3 days to finally ride the first wave. Was fun and can recommend them too!

Our 11yr olds had their first surf lesson today and loved it! It was pouring rain and they never complained as they were having so much fun! Both were able to stand up and both learnt so much from just the one lesson. Both kids came out of the water wanting to hire surfboards for the rest of our holiday! Both instructors were friendly and knew how to teach kids and adults! Heading back again tomorrow just to hire the equipment to give the kids another morning of fun!!

Booking surfing lessons with Style Surf was the best decision I've ever made! I booked 3 lessons as I had never surfed before, and after a really thorough (and humerous) intro on the beach I stood up on my first wave. Amazing feeling!! All the instructors are very knowledgeable, experienced and great at teaching...and they make it so much fun! I've seen them with adults, children, and some who don't speak English as their first language and they have been amazing with everyone! Gaz loves what he does so much that he's often giving tips to other surfers out there too! I think that says a lot about him and his character. What a legend! I happened to miss my third lesson (my fault) and Gaz contacted me right away to honour it and reschedule for the following day. Thank you so much Gaz!! I don't know any other company that would do that!! That final lesson was probably the best one! Huge thanks to Garrett and Dylan also for their instruction and tips out in the water!! All amazing instructors and guys who just love surfing! So excited to continue surfing as I travel the coast and if I'm ever back in Byron I'd definitely go out with these guys again! Highly highly recommend and worth every penny!! 🌊
