Impressive setup excellent commentator but need more animals to make it attractive
No doubt that the operator has put in great effort to set up this open range, but it needs more animals, especially the local Australian ones like Koala bear. The walking tour is not up to expectation, as some areas are well setup, but could not see the animals. The safari tour is good with good commentator but need more animals to be attractive.

Maybe give these one lots of thought for the day
The first thing I have to say is don’t go to these place during a dust storm or before rain. The dust on the safari trail bus has no cover from dust nor seat belts for kids. Also it was hard to hear the driver. The zoo was not great with the feel of a conservation for climate change zoo. Lots of QR codes and drinking glasses for compost. But need more interaction stuff for people who don’t u QR codes. Also the buses have no way for a person with a cane or wheelchair too get on it.

      Zoo
My wife and I visited this Zoo recently, during a holiday where we stayed at a holiday apartment in Point Cook. This was our second visit. During our previous visit last year, we had paid extra for the Deluxe Safari Tour. This time around, we decided to try the normal Safari Tour which is included in the General Admission Ticket. We were lucky to see the three lion cubs at feeding time and watched them eat a chunk of raw meat. We were also lucky to see the three Gorillas at feeding time and watched them eat celery. We will return next year to see the new and very large Elephant Closure that is currently under construction.

      Great zoo
Great zoo. Loved the whole atmosphere. The animals looked well cared for, there was a free safari and plenty of places to stop and eat/drink and get some souvenirs! The prices are expensive imo, but no more then I expect to pay at an attraction like this. The meerkat cafe was a lovely place to eat, it was easy to order and the food/drink was lovely.

      Crap
Looked forward to a family day at the zoo. Well to our surprise we had to walk nearly a kilometre through the car park, thank god we purchased our tickets online, the line to purchase ticket was so backed up. We entered the Zoo was looking at going onto the Safari ride, we arrived just after opening, we were told it could take up to two hours. So gave that idea up, so upon trying to get through the crowd, we managed to see, a couple of African dags, a couple of lions, three hippos, two monkeys and a couple of emus. The so called Australian area was crap, nothing to see but an empty shearing shed. The reptile display was a bunch of photos of reptiles. Lunch after standing around for a while we were able to get a table, the only good thing of the day, we did not get ripped off for the food. I did talk to one person who was serving, working the butt off, they were not happy with the amount of people in the park. After lunch checked out the safari line, now with a wait of three hours. Decided to go for a short walk, sorry too many people around, so decided to give up the day, go home have a couple of beers. If you are thinking of going to the Zoo during holiday forget about it. To the people who run this shambles, think about the amount of people you let into the Zoo on any given day. Think of the people who are visiting and want to enjoy a day. This will be the first and last visit.

      Amazing adventure.
This is a wonderful experience. The food was tasty and generous, and dietary needs advised in advance are catered for. The safari tents are comfortable and attractive. You are glamping, so expect a closer relationship with outside than a hotel might provide. The highlight is obviously the animal experience, day and night. Our rangers, including Mike who looked after us overnight and in the morning, were friendly, engaged, passionate and knowledgeable. We met the older rhinos up close, saw the cheetah at night resting just a metre from us, and had an early tour before opening time when rhinos, giraffes and zebra came right up to the truck to check us out! We also saw a lot of the behind scenes operations which was informative and fascinating. It is genuinely like doing a mini safari.

      Great experience
The delux tour was totally worth the extra cost. If you just want to walk and see animals, the zoo is lacking. Very nice to walk though, beautifully laid out. Being able to get so close to animals on the tour was incredible. Our guide, Fitsu I think, was just lovely and very knowledgeable. Would definitely pay to do this again.

      A nice few hours
A nice day out with the family. The zoo is looking a little tired now and could use some upkeep. Even the entrance and fake animals could use a refresh. I thought lunch options were pretty good for a zoo. There were pies and sausage rolls, sandwiches ( although I couldn't find any avo on my avocado and chicken sandwich) and wrap salads , burgers and chips plus cakes and muffins and ice-cream. A couple of cafes along the zoo walks too. Prices are extremely inflated as is expected. Gift shop was ok. Again, extremely overpriced. The safari was good. Bring a jacket as it can get cold. Overall a good few hours but would love to see the $$$ going into some enhancements. It has the potential to be great. Parking was a nightmare. Signage is lacking. Definitely needs a parking attendant or signs that show which lots are full and where spaces are available.

      Werribee Zoo Deluxe Safari
Deluxe Safari for 2 adults and 2 children. Paid a bit more to get up close to some of the beautiful animals. Informative and entertaining guide knew how to keep us amused, relaxed and engaged the whole hour long safari. Little kids were fascinated with the giraffes, rhinos (!!), camels, zebras - all the animals roaming free and so healthy well cared for. A wonderful experience and we learnt alot about how open range zoos can support international conservation efforts.

Visited the zoo with my grown up children. It was very relaxing and a great family day out until we came across a large group of young adults smoking and dropping their cigarette buts on the ground. I had to call the reception twice as I was feeling sick from the smoke.

A day at the Open Range Zoo has so much for all age groups, our Grandchildren loved listening to the keepers tell of the way the wild cats hunt for their food and catch it.
The lions cubs are always having fun annoying their parents and wanting to play.We have watched several sets of cubs grow, come and see the Hippos ,Giraffes, corroboboree frogs,Kangaroos, Meercats but to name a few. Come join the fun at Werribee Zoo.
Their breeding programme is very successful, always lots to see from the Safari bus which runs regularly all day .
The zoo runs a school holiday programme National Geographic Kids:Weird and Wild.
It doesn’t matter what time of year there is always wonderful things to see and do with the animals.
