- Venture085780174340 contributionsFun fact:we heard you can only see the Mountain for about 60 days out of 365!We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Dale. Very informative. The weather was not ideal but didn’t dampen the trip experience for us having been recommended by the tour to include wet weather attire. Dale will throw in his repertoire of Dad jokes which he has been advised to update.Written 9 November 2024

- dawgfan20000 contributionsExcellent way to see Cradle MountainOverall, I really enjoyed this experience. I was looking for something that would show me cradle mountain, but not something super active. This definitely fit the bill. It’s a large group which means we took took a full-size coach for the 2 Hour Dr. up to cradle Mountain. It was super comfortable and the driver Aaron took breaks being quiet and telling us more about the area around us. On the way up you stop in Sheffield to see the murals and grab a coffee. Once you get to cradle Mountain, you switch to a smaller bus with around 12 people and drive around the park. We stopped several times for short walks and then for lunch. You’re allowed to order one of several sandwiches or wraps that they pick up in Sheffield. They also had hot soup, tea, and coffee.and finally on the way home to break up the two hour tour you stop at a dairy to grab ice cream or cheese. We returned Right around 5:30. Thank you Aaron for a great day!Written 20 October 2024
- 245madeleinet0 contributionsA fantastic learning experienceAbsolutely amazing tour. Our guide Ben was super passionate about the area, giving us all the details about the local flora and every stop we reached. We were kept in a good schedule so that we got as much out of the day as possible. As a group, we got super lucky with the westher conditons on the day. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cradle Mountain for the first time.Written 19 October 2024
- Mickey67Bundy0 contributionsAbove ExpectationsFrom the time we were picked up we were well informed and treated with respect. The guide was a very knowledgeable person and I found the day truely enlightening.Written 8 October 2024
- ALH570 contributionsThe perfect way to visit Cradle MountainBen picked us up promptly and once everyone was onboard, approx 14 altogether, he gave a comprehensive briefing of the day's itinerary and expectations of punctuality. I was extremely impressed with his organisation skills and knew we were in safe hands. Ben was very knowledgeable about the area and enthusiastic to share. He had the perfect balance of giving just the right amount of information and moments to take in the scenery. Our stop in Sheffield for the murals was great and we had an hour to walk along the shore of Dove Lake. Lunch was perfect in a rustic mountain hut surrounded by wombats and pademelons. After lunch we had a tour of the Waldheim Hut and a walk through the woods to see the Kill Billy pines. Despite the weather being against us we had a perfect day. I'd highly recommend this tour particularly if you're lucky enough to have Ben as your guide.Written 26 September 2024
- 779maggiek0 contributionsBeautiful scenery & wildlife, good lunch, some quality information from drivers/guides but take ear plugs for the dated &offensiBeautiful scenery, great lunch & some excellent commentary from our 2 guides/ drivers but what a shame that some of the so called humour of one driver was so dated. It's fine to ask the customers to take any rubbish with them but Dale, its NOT OK to say it's because your colleague 'A...is your bitch and doesn't want to have to clean up.' The mother-in-law and wife jokes were tedious -& again, a shame, given you & Aaron did have some really worthwhile information to share.Written 15 September 2024

Awesome night walk seeing a wide range of wildlife. We spotted pademelons, Bennet wallabies, wombats, quolls and bushtail possums, including some very up close (on wombats came and sniffed at our boots). We also saw a Joey Wombat on the grass. Our guide Les was patient and knowledgeable and we all felt comfortable throughout the tour. I’d highly recommend this tour, you can see some of the animals yourself but we would not have learnt so much, or seen the quolls or possums independently.

Our driver Flea was friendly and knowledgeable and k ew all the places to find these animals. We saw a lot of wildlife in nature. Wombats, quolls, possums, wallabies, and even one echidna. We learnt a lot about these unique and special Australian animals from her. Highly recommend this experience if you are visiting Cradle Mountain at night.

We saw so many animals! There were lots of pademelons, wallabies and wombats grazing along the road or walkinv tracks. Eastern quolls were zooming around the hill beside the Overland Track. We were spoiled for choice! The driver was very knowledgeable also.

Our guide, Flea, was very friendly; however, she could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the various animals.
Trying to spot animals with a single torch at the front and back of the group was difficult along the boardwalk at Ronny Creek. We did see a fair number of wombats, but we had seen them earlier in the day when we were on our own. There were a few quolls that showed themselves, but we were at the back of the line and had a hard time seeing them - and they move very fast. Fortunately, we had just done the Devil and Quoll feeding at Devil's Cradle, so felt we had gotten a good look at them.
On the bus, the folks sitting next to the windows could see animals as they were spotted, but - again - I was on an inside seat and it was hard to see anything. Flea was good about taking time to stop the van so everyone could have a chance to see what had been spotted.
In fact, our best wildlife spotting was when we were dropped back at the Visitors Center and heard a possum joey go into the rubbish bin in the toilets. Mom followed soon after and we were able to get a good look at both. Not knowing what to do, we simply lifted the lid on the bid in hopes they would eventually make their way out.
I'm sure the experience is different from night to night, and we maybe just got an evening when there weren't a lot of animals out.

A friend recommended this tour to me and I'm so glad they did, it was a unique and worthwhile experience and I thought it extremely good value for money. It's a very different experience to visiting the park by day, the number and proximity of the wombats, in particular, you wouldn't otherwise see. James was a friendly, informative, and very likeable guide who really added to the experience.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area, completely worth your time.

Excellent tour, saw lots of wildlife. Came so close with different animals during our outdoor walk which was really amazing. At least 10 different wombats us and a possum walked up to us / past us. Saw wombats chased each others off from their territory, and even saw quoll from distance.
Our tour guide, Belinda, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and very explained to us very enthusiastically the different wildlife found in Cradle Mountain National Park.
We arrived late for the tour (from Hobart) and she made sure we know where our accommodation was before the tour departed. Belinda went above and beyond to introduce different things about Cradle Mountain and to make sure we have a good stay in Cradle Mountain.
A fantastic experience and will definitely recommend.

This is a must do at Cradle Mountain. Andy our tour guide was fantastic - the coach picked us up at our camp ground, and within 100m down the road we were spotting wildlife. Over 30 wombats, two quolls, possums, wallabies, pademelons, bush chickens..... and then a shooting star at Ronny Creek as we got back on the bus.
Andy was very helpful and knowledgeable and made the trip for us.

Paul picked us up from our accommodation and took us on an epic adventure to find the wild life in Cradle Mountain. Not only did we get to see Wombats, possums, wallabies and a cheeky quoil, we had a perfect cloud free night so we had an opportunity to star gaze. Paul’s guidance and knowledge was epic and his friendly manner made this tour an enjoyable experience… would recommend.

This was a fun night, i got to use the spotlight out the window on the way to our destination and spot wild life. We got to see Paddy-melon Wallabies, possums and a lot of wombats and right at the end when we where about to leave we spotted a couple of quoll's running around having a great old time. James was very informative and there was only myself and my daughter but James made sure we had an awesome time.

Fun night seeing so many more wildlife than are in view by day. We were driven to Ronnie Creek and Waldheim then walked along the boardwalk by moonlight. Our guide and spotter James gave wonderful details about the area and the wombats, pademelons, possums, wallabies and quolls that we saw. We usually live in Tasmania and like camping but still learned lots!
