About
We cruise along the coastline so that you are able to enjoy the view of this gorgeous Coffin Bay National Park from the sea. This is after we have stopped off in the growing and fattening oyster farms at the entrance to the Coffin Bay water way some 16 km from the township of Coffin Bay. After eating fresh oysters plucked from the sea and viewing the national park we will stop off at the Brother Islands to check out our very small seal population on our way back to the drop off location back at the Coffin Bay boat ramp.

- Puppycatbrisvegas0 contributionsMust do tourOMG what an amazing experience. We absolutely loved it. Scott and Sandy were lovely people, easy to talk to and gave us an amazing day out on the water. We put our waders on and went for a walk amongst the oyster leases. What a great experience. The information provided by Scott on the boat included the history of Coffin Bay oysters and a demonstration on how to shuck an oyster without stabbing yourself. If you love oysters or even just interested in the growing process, this is a must do when in the area.Written 14 July 2024

Tour was very informative, we didn't eat the oysters, as I personnel don't like raw oysters. I would recommend this tour to anyone, very professional run. Well Done GuysWritten 14 November 2023
- 45vernonl0 contributionsFantastic experienceTwo-person crew were fantastic, skipper was very knowledgeable and entertaining when describing the history of oyster farming in Coffin Bay and the geological uniqueness of the area for producing quality oysters. On our particular tour there were quite a few tourists and the deckhand was very capable in shucking the required dozens of oysters that were ordered. The wading experience amongst the oyster lease was great and offered us the perspective of the farmers. A very good tour.Written 20 October 2023

Very informative morning at the oyster lease and great scenery on the way back- we saw sea lions, seals & lots of birds. Boat was comfortable with good shade. We had a dozen oysters each & learnt how to shuck them. Only disappointment was being charged for wine at end of tour when we were not advised at the time it was offered that there was an extra charge. For the cost of the morning, a glass of wine should be included.

Thank you for your review of our tour and we are glad that it was an enjoyable morning tour. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the wine. I have checked our online booking information and it does not say that wine is included in the tour. I do understand that you booked direct over the phone and may not have seen the online booking information. Chris does remember not advising you when he offered the wine that it was at an extra cost which is why he offered to give it to you for free. He did not want you to leave the tour disappointed about the wine. We usually do advise that we are licensed to sell alcohol and the cost for the local wine and local beer prices. I understand a person in your group insisted on paying for the bottle of wine.

Unfortunately we chose a cool and cloudy summers day for our tour and didn't fully follow Experience Coffin Bay's advice to bring warm clothing, so I got a bit cold out on the water, but to be honest it didn't really impact too much on what was a very interesting few hours. The hosts are oyster farmers themselves, of many years experience so can easily explain the intricacies of this complex farming process. The boat moors within an oyster bed, and you can see the crews removing the mesh tubes full of oysters to take them ashore for grading, which is very interesting. You are then each served a dozen shucked oysters taken directly from the sea next to the boat, and there is a broad selection of local wines and beers to accompany if wished. After that, the tour continues around the bay to view the beautiful scenery of the national park, various seal colonies and a wide variety of bird life. The guys have just procured a new boat which is very comfortable, with large clear windows which allow excellent viewing even on cold days when it's necessary to keep them shut. Recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to review our tour. It is appreciated. It's a pity about the weather on the day that you visited but unfortunately we can't control the weather. Good tip for others to always come prepared when travelling on a boat with a jacket in case its needed.

We did the 3 hour Coffin Bay Oyster Farm & Bay Tour this morning, that included a dozen oysters, freshly shucked for you on the boat, minutes before serving.
The moment we stepped onto the boat ramp, we were warmly greeted by both Scott & Daisy. Scott was the skipper and Daisy the hostess and shucker. The purpose built boat is fast and comfortable and we were soon out through The Channel and into Coffin Bay itself. The scenery throughout the tour was great, we were blessed with pretty good weather, a little bit windy but mostly rain free. Until we arrived on the farm itself, of course! But the rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and most of us donned the waders provided and ventured down into the rows of oysters. And the rain soon passed anyway.
Unlike the other oyster experience in town, the wading here was on a 100% smooth sand bottom and was a real pleasure. The water depth varied between knee to waist depth. And the water was so crystal clear, it was amazing.
Because the boat is positioned with rows of oysters either side of it, whatever slight swell of chop there is in the water is minimised.
Here you are, out in the middle of the bay, surrounded by dozens of long rows of oyster cages, containing tens of thousands of the purest oysters in the world.
Scott’s talk is fascinating, educational and entertaining. Daisy is truly the queen of the shuckers because the delivers everyone their dozen perfectly shucked oysters in individual cardboard trays, with napkins, tabasco, lemon wedges & wasabi. Pure heaven.
On the way back, we skirt the coast along the Coffin Bay Peninsula and stop just off The Brothers island to view a colony of sea lions.
A fantastic experience, and if you are only going to have one oyster “experience” while in Coffin Bay, this would be my recommendation.

The tour was beautiful, awesome experience . Informative and really interesting, was wonderful to hear of the history , really gave us insight to the region. An absolute must to do , make sure you do the water walk, was a wonderful experience to see the oyster beds up close and really gave you such a unique feeling to be out in the water .. I was hesitant at first, but Chris and Linda were wonderful instilling confidence - you will not regret a moment. And not to forget ... Oysters so fresh"- a lesson on how to open correctly and tasted delectable.. brilliant break Oysters & wine '' then a cruise back to shore but not before Chris slowed and maneuvered the boat to allow us the see and photograph the seals playing. Brilliant , not to be missed, Thankyou to Chris, Linda & Experience Coffin Bay

I am so glad that you got in to the water to walk around on the farm. It's very special. The seals are always fun to see as well, once we find where they are playing around the islands. Puts a smile on my face to know how much you enjoyed your trip. Thanks for the wonderful review.

Was an amazing tour. Boat ride was comfortable and was able to sit out the front of the cabin with wind in your hair. Was amazing to walk around in the water in waders and experience what it would be like. The tour guide was so informative he was such a wealth of knowledge. The Oysters were super fresh and just so tasty. Even if you don't eat Oysters still worth the experience. Would definitely recommend this to friends and family

Thank you for an amazing experience! We went out late May and were lucky to have minimal wind. The tour guides are excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, approachable and fun. The new tour boat is top notch with full bar (with great drinks from the Eyre Peninsula region) and toilet facilities on board.
The pace of the tour was perfect for 3 hours. We felt like we gained a lot of insight into the industry, why Coffin Bay is such a spectacular place for seafood and oysters, and even got to see dolphins and seals! The choice of having your dozen oysters on board or takeaway is excellent. We even managed to get some great suggestions for camping spots nearby from the guides :)
Overall, this was the highlight of our trip to the Eyre Peninsula and absolute value for money. Couldn't recommend it enough to friends and family. Thank you.

There's really nothing quite like a Farm and Bay tour when the weather is perfect.
We're so glad you were able to experience that and enjoyed the oysters also 🙌

It was fantastic and very unique. So informative, relaxing and fun at the same time! The new boat is fantastic and though we got great weather on the day, seems built to handle most conditions. The staff on the day had the hands on experience to provide really authentic information and were super knowledgeable and fun. Very worthwhile with something for everyone, but particularly if you like oysters! Linda was extremely helpful when we made our booking as well. Thanks Again!

We had an absolute blast on this trip. The atmosphere was friendly, the boat was perfect for the tour and the funny stories really got us in.
Make sure you go the whole hog and pre order a bottle of wine with your oysters, they were both very delicious! Huge thanks also to the guys for turning the boat around to pick up the hat that flew off my head!! We recommend this tour to everyone travelling along the beautiful west coast - it’s an absolute 5 star trip!

Definitely the pick of oyster farm tours in Coffin Bay! Had an absolutely fabulous 3 hours in the boat with Scott and Meg and the other guests. Learnt so much about oysters from Scott who really knows his stuff, and you can’t get them any fresher, straight off the racks shucked by expert Meg.
Wading in the crystal clear water was a fantastic experience and the team really look after you every minute of the trip.
Afterwards we went to Oyster Headquarters restaurant for a seafood platter that you will never have experienced anywhere else, it was superb and a great way to finish the day.
The hardworking owners Chris and Linda are wonderful people who deserve every bit of their success. Can thoroughly recommend this tour, it makes for a very memorable experience and will definitely do it again.
Coffin Bay oysters live in the cleanest of waterways and you can definitely taste the difference, just amazing :) Thanks team!
