About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mark C0 contributionsA great experience, highly recommended$210 total for family of 4 (2A 2C) for the full experience tour which includes everything including the laboratory, preparation, cinema room and shuttle bus to the dinosaur canyon. We booked the first tour of the day which kept us busy until just after lunch. We could have stayed all day so the family ticket which is discounted by $40 offers good value for money I think. Everyone enjoyed it and there is something for all ages. Staff were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the whole dinosaur and fossil experience. Would recommend.Written 24 September 2024
- Daphne F0 contributionsCheck on partial tourWent there with 2 young kids (5 and 2), was a bit hesitated to find out from there website and brochure that they only do 4 hrs guided tour. Went there to check it out anyway, when we are there, they actually offered partial tour which us more suitable for family with young kids.Written 5 August 2024
- maynessal0 contributionsVery interesting day outI booked in advance for me and my husband. I'm glad, because I got the tours that I wanted. There were big queues on the day that I went, so some people weren't so lucky. Unfortunately, my husband was sick on the day, so I went on my own. It was very interesting and well presented. The views from the cafe were very pleasant. The whole experience made for an enjoyable and interesting day outWritten 26 July 2024
- GabriellaB19620 contributionsDinosaurs in our backyardThis place was brilliant. Well worth going to if only for the incredible views! Same people also run Larks Quarry which is way out further so this is much more accessible. Great seeing details about life 95million year ago and knowing that our planet perpetually is changing. Was fascinating hearing about Matilda and Banjo and seeing their actual bones - not replicas. They also do a dark sky star gazing which would be awesome to do - maybe next trip!Written 23 July 2024
- 495mareep0 contributionsIncredible exhibit well worth the tripThe tour guide and information centre definitely loved showing us the exhibits. This exhibition is fantastic. Luke the cart driver and John the tour director were so friendly and welcoming. They are a great team, including registration and catering. The exhibition facilities are incredible. Best of all the dinosaurs a great exhibit for young and old. I am definitely going back - loving the outback too. Winton is a great time must go to the Royal Theatre tooWritten 23 June 2024
- 266annettep0 contributionsEnjoyable Dinosaur ExperienceWe choose to do the 3 tours, Canyon and March of the Dinosaurs, the Fossil Laboratory and Collection Room. There is a cafe on site and plenty of parking and time between tours to grab a snack or bring your own. We enjoyed the 3 tours and learn't so much about the dinosaur trail in Queensland and how they were discovered. Do the Fossil laboratory you can chat to the volunteers who are working on the fossils that are found during the digs. A very informative 4 hours. We chose to do all 3 rather than drive out to Lark Quarry but you can just choose what you want to see and do especially if you have kids.Written 23 June 2024
- wilcov9240 contributionsEducational visitWe specifically went to this part of Queensland for the dinosaurs and it didn't dissapoint. We loved it and learned a lot. Great to see the enhusiastic volunteers telling their stories. Lots of work to do to unravel the rest of the collection.Written 19 June 2024
- 430SusanS4300 contributionsAmazingWe found this tour to be very interesting. The tour was 1.5 hrs. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. It really is wonderful how they moved the creek bed and now can be viewed by the public. Didn’t have the time for the other tour but certainly worth a visit.Written 18 June 2024
- Puppycatbrisvegas0 contributionsGood visitWe were here in 2020 and they were building new exhibits so we had to come back to check them out. They have an undercover dinosaur stampede area which was a bit disappointing after our visit to Lark Quarry stampede which has much more detail in the footsteps of the dinosaurs. The staff member we had on our tour was a bit abrupt. All is all is still very good place to visit.Written 16 June 2024
- A4367APdebbies0 contributionsGreat day out for all agesThis was a fascinating day. The Fossil Workshop showing a bit of history of the finds and actually watching the people cleaning the fossils. Tennyson gave a comprehensive talk on further history and fossils found to date. Daniel then drove us to the Dinosaur Canyon. All tour guides were excellent. We found the 4 hours very interesting & informative. Better than what I thought. Great day out. Highly recommend.Written 11 June 2024
- linda_chicha0 contributionsAmazing experience! Not gonna lie, when we saw the prices, we were a bit shocked but decided to do the Ultimate Dinosaur Tour because we're here already. But WOW, definitely worth the 4 hours experience we had there. We arrived at the reception for the check in and got our tickets and time for the day. We first went to the lab to see the fossil preparation and it was very fascinating! I was expecting a white coat temperature controlled lab environment but nope, it's in a shed with dedicated volunteers working on the fossils at different stages of unearthing these precious bones. You even get to touch the bones there. For collector, there is a penny press machine there so get your $2 ready or the staff can help you. We asked a few questions and got on back to the reception area for the collection room tour. Not much of a tour but more presentation and it was delivered excellently by Jon. He explained the different types of dinosaurs bones with enthusiasm and humour. Gold stars. I believe Banjo and Matilda are star crossed lovers with same ending as Romeo and Juliet. After this, we waited for our Canyon tour with the shuttle and this is the highlight for me. The canyon is so beautiful. The design of the building matched the landscape perfectly and after hearing the mammoth effort to relocate the tracks, I was even more impressed. The dinosaurs displays were also great. A lot of information was crammed in a few hours and I love it. The gift shops (with good items) and cafes are well priced too. A must see in my book.Written 2 June 2024
- Jennifer R0 contributionsAussie dinosaurs from go to woe. Large, small meat & grass eatersExcellent content, communication and very up to date. Different sites & Different knowledgeable guides. Good views from the jump upWritten 30 May 2024
- patrices8760 contributionsAn aptly named tour - Ultimate Dinosaur TourThis is a fascinating look into the past when dinosaurs roamed the Outback - who knew? Tour guides were both knowledgeable and entertaining. I imagine it is very hot in summer.Written 24 May 2024
- 538barrys0 contributionsA disappointing experience.Although we were greeted on arrival by staff member Peter who was most helpful our tour was not the greatest experience. The tour guide requires further training on delivering the tour, we did the 9.45 March of the Titanosaurs tour. As the narrative of the tour ran over time there was no time left to visit the canyon, to see the bones, statues and for the tracings etc that we were told would be possible. The tour guide needs further support in learning time management to prevent a disappointing experience as she too kept saying we would have free time after she finished to see everything. Very disappointing, we do not recommend visiting as the time, effort, and expense that it takes to get there could be better spent on different experiences around Winton.Written 11 May 2024
- geoffdemanser0 contributionsPretty interesting and worth a lookSo it’s an interesting way to spend an hour or two and provides some really informative information about the landscape 95 million years ago. At times it’s a little slow paced and probably not ideal for smaller kids unless they’re really into dinosaurs. The valley walk was kind of cool. Expensive and it would be nice to be able to do parts of the experience at a lower rate perhaps.good though.Written 10 April 2024

It is an excellent, well-organized tour. The young man (I don't remember his name) was informed, well-versed, and genuinely interested in the dinosaur bones and history. Not knowing what to expect and not being a 'dinosaur person, I really enjoyed my time there particularly the lab.

Very informative tour that included a visit to the preparation lab, the Collection Room and the footprints exhibition (Dinosaur Canyon Tour). Very good standard of facilities and exhibits. It was interesting to be able to talk with the volunteers that were painstakingly removing the fine rock/dirt to expose the fossilised bone. Highly recommended.
