          Stampede and native fauna
The tour guides, Ange and Bec were knowledgeable and friendly. They drove very carefully and happy to turn around for any fauna sightings on the way which were numerous as they were able to pick up fauna that I would have missed. They discussed the flora and fauna on the way and so the long trip was interesting. At the Stampede we had lunch which was enjoyable. I could not have asked for more from the tour. I can thoroughly recommend it.

          Friendly and efficient service.
Jo gave us the time required, was polite but friendly and knowledgeable. We were never left wondering what we were to do next. The vehicle was clean and cool. The pickup was punctual. I could not have asked for more.

Friendly tour guides with stunning sunsets
The ladies that took us on our magical tour through Rangelands was amazing. Very knowledgeable on the area and the surrounds. I was worried about being with an older group that I’d miss out on exploring the rocks. Vicki encouraged me to go off and explore places that the others could not. It made my trip and I would highly recommend seeing all the sights that they have to offer.

          A unique experience
Lark Quarry is the only place in the world with a stampede of dinosaur footprints. It is 110km from Winton so some of the day is spent getting there and back. Our guide Bec gave us plenty of information along the way about the geology, flora, and fauna of the region, and was willing to stop a few times to see wildlife.

          A fascinating place
The easiest way to see Age of the Dinosaurs if you don't have a car. The tour includes the museum as well as the laboratory where people are processing the fossils.

          Red Dirt Tour - witon
We did Two tours at Winton, one to the Dinosaur Age of Discovery Museum and one a Sunset Rift Tour. Both were fabulous. Vicky is a fountain of local knowledge, and a great host to boot. We came to Winton specifically to do these tours. We will return next year to do another tour that runs later in the year to Opalton.

Great guide, great view, great nibbles and wine. It showed how passionate Vicky is to our environment and the knowledge she has and shared. Would recommend everyone to do this and any other tour Vicky offers. Can’t wait to put the photos into print. James Burley

Amazing country, geology, environment and country side
Our second time with Red Dirt Tours. The Rangelands Rift and Sunset Tour is amazing. Vicki is so knowledgeable of the area, wildlife and geology. The platter and wine on the jump up for sunset is top notch. The walk through the geological rifts is amazing. Can not recommend this tour company highly enough, 5 stars is not enough.

Red dirt dinosaur tours highly recommend
Fantastic tour, Vicki was lovely and very knowledgeable. She went out of her way to make the experience very enjoyable. Vicky also made the journey to the dinosaurs an experience in its own right, pointing out wildlife and giving a lot of local information along the way. I highly recommend this tour company. We did the dinosaur stampede tour on another day and it was just as enjoyable. Thank you Vicky

          Exceptional guide
We spent 2 days exploring the Winton area with Bec of Red Dirt Tours. The customised tours for the 8 of us allowed us to see as much as possible over the 2 days. The extremely knowledgeable Bec informed and entertained us with her lovely personality and incredible broad knowledge of Winton, dinosaurs, farming, botany, geology, entomology etc etc. there is nothing this girl doesn’t know! Red dirt provided a very healthy fresh lunch, drinks and morning and afternoon teas. We could have stayed longer in Winton as there is so much to see and we could have listened and learnt from Bec forever. Thanks for an amazing 2 days.

Age of dinosaurs stampede half day dino dash
We went with Vicki our coach driver and general tour guide along with four other guests so it was a fairly intimate trip being so few members, Vicki had a vast knowledge of the local area and made many stops along the route to the dinosaur footprints discover site explaining the various flora and fauna as we went and we thought her part of the tour was possibly more interesting than the actual dino print portion however we still enjoyed the dinos

This is the first thing to do when you travel to Winton.
Vicki s the tour host and driver and her commentary is outstanding based on a deep understanding of the history of the area and knowledge of the flora and fauna and geology.
The drive around Carisbrooke Station occupies the majority of the tour and the sights and history are both amazing.
The Stampede site is most interesting and should be followed by a trip to the Age of the Dinosaurs site the next day - just a short drive out of Winton on a good sealed road - this adds to the understanding of dinosaurs found in the region .

My friend and I did the tour with Luke as our driver and guide. The whole day was definitely way beyond our expectations, from meeting Vicky in the morning to spending the day with Luke who royally looked after us, providing us with an excellent morning tea and lunch and a wealth of information of the bush, flora and fauna, and including a very informed historical knowledge of the area.
The Dinosaur Stampede was so wonderful that it, surprisingly, made one quite emotional. An experience most certainly not to be missed.
We did a bit of 'bush bashing' in the afternoon, seeing the wonderful views and having the opportunity to more closely connect with the land.
I could easily elaborate further, but suffice to say, thank you Vicky and Luke for providing us with such a memorable experience. I recommend highly that future visitors to Winton take full advantage of Red Dirt Tours.

I'd previously visited the Kimberley region in Western Australia and thought that this area might be eerily similar. How wrong I was! Of course the ground was ochre red from the oxide content of the soil, but what really "grabbed" me was the perfect flatness of the landscape, the blue hills and the mesas dotting the countryside and the highlight, of course, being the Dinosaur Stampede. A magical experience and totally worth it. It's a bit of a misnomer to call it "Carisbrooke Station" however: we drove through the area comprising parts of the Station, but we never entered the homestead (which I had expected, as part of the morning tea experience) but drove up to buildings which the excellent tour guide/driver (Vicki) told us about, including weather events and even LBJ's part in World War II. Anyone who DOESN'T do this tour needs his/her head read!

Hi and thanks for your comments. Yeh it's a bit hard to enter the homestead when there are people living in it - absent or present - and the agreement we have for tours is that we don't enter the house or shed areas as I mentioned. Really the human and natural history is what we go there for and we spend from 9.00am to 12.00pm on Carisbrooke Station it's just the last part that we go via the homestead. It's such a beautiful property we get to enjoy the best of it! I'm glad you enjoyed the day!

Very interesting tour thanks to Jaime, our guide who has a wealth of knowledge about the history of Carisbrooke station, Lark Quarry and the region generally, the geology and plant life, and the wildlife. We had lots of stops for views, photos and refreshments (morning & afternoon tea and lunch) and the opportunity for some opal digging in addition to our tour of Lark Quarry Museum. As with the Age of Dinasaurs Museum, the guides there were excellent

This was my favourite tour in the Winton region. Vicki of Red Dirt Tours is an amazing guide with an incredible amount of knowledge about the flora, fauna, colonial and indigenous history in the area.

The 'Carisbrooke Station and Dinosaur Stampede Full Day Tour' was especially enjoyable as we spent the whole day exploring this beautiful country.

Carisbrooke Station is an amazing example of a working property and there is an astonishing amount of history to go along with it. We went to some beautiful lookouts during the tour and then went down into the low country to fossick for our very own opals!

We then took a scenic drive out to the Dinosaur Stampede and marvelled at the extremely well-preserved and expertly-excavated dinosaur tracks. They really do take you 95 million years back in time!

The meals provided by Vicki throughout the tour were also extremely delicious!

Overall, Vicki and her Red Dirt Tours are a fantastic business and I cannot recommend her highly enough for your next outback adventure in and around Winton.

We had been on our Dinosaur Discovery Trail all the way from Eromanga last week (where we met Cooper at the Eromanga Natural History Museum).

We really looked forward to this Dinosaur Stampede tour with Red Dirt Tours in Winton. What a great day 😁😁 Our driver and guide Luke made the day very interesting. He gave us running commentary on grass and tree species, why they grew in certain areas and not in other areas. Explained the erosion process over millions of years to current times.

The visit to Carisbrook Station most interesting. The views from the mesa was amazing across vast landscapes.

Then onto the Dinosaur Stampede tour at Lark Quarry Conservation Park. Our guide there namely Peter was most informative and interesting. This conservation park is managed by the Australian Age of Dinosaurs based just outside Winton.

It was mind blowing here was exposed rock with over 3,300 dinosaur footprints in it 🐾🐾🌈🌈 The footprints of the large carnivores theropod were so clear!!! A life special experience to have see this 95 million year old wonder nature creation 😁😁😁

I can truly recommend this 3/4 day tour with Red Dirt Tours 👍👍 If you are planning to come dinosaur viewing, you have to do this tour.

The Guide was excellent and the tour was good, except the advert which stated we would be stopping for lunch at a cattle station, we arrived at a gate which was shut our guide said OH it looks like they are busy we will go some where else. With that he stopped and conventially there was a table and some upturned drums so he got out a cloth and asked if we wanted chicken or ham in our salad, which was made up in plastic containers. We arrived at the Stampede Centre and was told there was a walk and to back at the centre for our time slot - we had to wait over an hour, which seemed a waste of time.

Hi, and thank you for your feedback. It's unfortunate that this didn't meet your expectations, though I will just clarify a couple of things. None of our tours have ever had lunch at a cattle station included and we don't/can't advertise that you do. We visit the cattle station, and you would have been on that station from 9.00am until about 12.00 - we don't go into the Homestead where people live and have a home. The gate you got to that was locked was near the homestead and the cattle yards where they were mustering and loading cattle on that day - unfortunately we didn't know this was the case until your tour got to the gate that day, so our sincere apologies we couldn't get you closer to the homestead. Where the table is and the drums is the site Charlie Phillott (previous owner) used to use so it permanently set up - we now use this site as a morning tea spot on a different tour. Lunch is usually located at the picnic tables at the Dinosaur Stampede but on the day of your tour, the guide used his initiative to do something different because he wasn't able to head down the road we would normally be on by going past the homestead - he has taken you to that spot - which is quite picturesque. Lunch consists of an individually packed cold meat and fresh salad. There is a choice of which cold meat and salad you would like, and then optional salad dressings, wraps and cold drinks. We then follow that up with fresh fruit salad for afternoon tea. We normally arrive for lunch at 1.00pm and have the tour booked at the stampede for 2.00pm. On the day of your tour things were a little different and I am told you arrive at the stampede at approx 1.15 for the 2.00 tour. which means you would have had time for a nice stroll and time to read all the information boards prior to 2.00pm. As I mentioned, it's a shame our delivery didn't meet your expectations.

This was the third tour we did with Red Dirt Tours and we really can’t fault them. You can only see Carisbrook Station on this tour and it is well worth it. The views are fantastic and the stories of the history are really interesting. The Lark Quarry is also interesting. Even if you aren’t into dinosaurs and fossils, the moment captured in time of a dinosaur stampede is fascinating. It’s great to sit back and let someone else do the driving while learning about the human and natural history

A full days tour seeing the best of Outback Queensland with something g special to top it off!

Firstly you need to be aware that there’s a lot of travel, 300km or so in the day, but with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea plus plenty of sightseeing stops, it’s worth it!

It’s also important to mention the tour guide and driver. Ours was Bec and she was nothing short of superb, spotting all manner of wildlife and taking us through the geology, history and geography of the region. Plus a special mention for allowing our youngest to sit up front for the final leg.

Scenery was spectacular, the station is so cool to see and my kids have a few opal rocks from fossiking at the old mine.

The day is topped off with a visit to the fossilized site of an actual Dinosaur stampede. The ONLY one in the world and 95 million years old!!

Highly recommended and don’t miss this if you are in Winton 👍
