- tbytby0 contributionsInteresting window onto Australian dinosaurs, great scenery.Bec is a really good guide. I thoroughly enjoyed her running commentary over the few days I travelled with her (1/2 day to AAOD and 3/4 day to Dinosaur Stampede). She’s extremely knowledgeable about the area, the geology, the wildlife, the palaeontology. She worked at the AAOD for many years before tour guiding for Red Dirt Tours. Her heart is absolutely in this area.Written 18 October 2024

- robbiemD7733BR0 contributionsAs Expansive as the HorizonsMy recent travels with Red Dirt Tours on the 6 day tour to experience the dinosaur trail was absolutely brilliant. The carefully selected itinerary, charming hotels and knowledgeable staff gave us the perfect opportunity to explore this region of stunning outback beauty and scientific marvels. Vicky took into account and made arrangements as needed for any special requirements required by members of the tour. Can’t say enough really - the experience was as expansive as the horizons. - Michael C0 contributionsWinton Area ExplorationWhen we booked our tour, we had some idea of what to expect, but I can honestly say that it exceeded our expectations. We were the only ones on the tour that day, and our driver / guide, Ange, was bright, attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. She made sure we were made to feel welcome, showed us sights we'd never had seen on our own, and was a wealth of information. There was plenty of good food and drinks during the day, and it wasn't rushed, so you had time to take in the countryside and appreciate the history of the area. A worthwhile experience made even better because Ange was such an excellent host. Highly recommended.Written 8 October 2024
- Drew B0 contributionsDinosaur Footprints! This tour was great, Bec was an excellent guide, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area, totally happy to stop along to way to check out it the local wildlife, sometimes backtracking to get a good view The bus is a big modern and comfortable 4x4 bus, carefully driven across the rugged terrain to a very modern facility housing the world’s only dinosaur stampede. Jon, our guide while at the display, is very passionate about what the does and loves to share his knowledge on to topic before showing you the main event, over 3k dinosaur footprints which really makes you think and visualise the time these ancient beings were around 10/10 great tour, would recommendWritten 4 October 2024

Just before sunset we explored the strange rock formations and learned about the flora, fauna and indigenous people of the area.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and stressed the need to be careful clambering over the rocks. A very tasty platter of nibbles and a drink was provided whole we settled down to enjoy the evening colours. This is a very pleasant excursion.

Thank you for taking the time to write.
The Rifts are very beautiful and unique rock formations, it is important for them to be preserved and maintained for the generations to come. Thank you for being mindful of how important it is to take care of them. We are happy that the sun came out after the rain for you to enjoy the many colours displayed in the west at sunset.

Having a glass of wine and enjoying delicious nibbles while watching the sunset was great, but the tour offers so much more. Dana, our tour guide, made this tour so enjoyable and informative. We learnt a lot about the geology, flora and fauna, aboriginal history etc of this area, and appreciate Dana sharing her wealth of knowledge.

Thank you! The natural environment at Rangelands is wonderful and sets the scene for our guides to help you understand what you are looking at. Dana certainly does this in an exceptional way!

I chose this tour as it looked different to other places that I had seen before, and I was not disappointed. My husband and I were picked up from our accommodation by Dana and driven out to "Rangelands" which is a privately owned property about 10 kilometers outside of Winton. We proceeded to drive up onto the top of one of the ridges, passing the luxury tents where you can stay on the property.
Prior to sunset, we went for a walk down into the rift formations that form from wind and water erosion at the edge of the ridge. Dana supplied information about the local plant and animal life along the walk as well as answering any questions.
After the walk we went to the sunset side of the ridge, where we settled in to enjoy the scenery along with a glass of wine and a tray of nibbles prepared by Dana. Once the sun had gone down and many photos were taken, we were returned to our accommodation.

The ladies that took us on our magical tour through Rangelands was amazing. Very knowledgeable on the area and the surrounds. I was worried about being with an older group that I’d miss out on exploring the rocks. Vicki encouraged me to go off and explore places that the others could not. It made my trip and I would highly recommend seeing all the sights that they have to offer.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the local plant life and the history of the place and made it a really interesting and enjoyable trip.
We saw emus and wallaroos on our drive up to the rifts and a few cute bats inside the rifts themselves.
The rock formations really are amazing and our guide gave us plenty of opportunities to take pics so I got lots of great photos.

Thank you! Rangelands Rifts are such an amazing place - formed by erosion over millions of years. And they make a great precursor to sunset at our lookout!

Excellent service, Vicki picked us up from our accommodation. Very good commentary along the way. Exploring the rifts is great, lovely views around the jump up and the setting sun highlighting the colours of the boulders contrasting with the brilliant clear blue sky.
Great nibbles provided by Vicki as we had a few drinks while taking in the changing colours as the sun set and concluded our visit to the jump up with the moon above..

We went on this tour to see an outback sunset, which didn’t disappoint, but what we hadn’t expected was the interesting drive to get to the lookout. We went in the 4 wheel drive bus through Rangelands Station to the jump-ups, formed over millions of years by erosion. The top is the original height of the land. Vicki our guide gave a comprehensive overview of the local geography and walked us through the rifts between the rocks which were formed when the softer sandstone/rock was eroded away. Vicki and Hilton were fantastic Guide and hosts. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Winton. Thanks Vicki.
