Great excursion to Age of Dinosaurs
The Red Dirt our tour guide picked us up from our accommodation and transported us to the venue, about 25 km from Winton. During the drive Brett, our tour guide shared some of his vast know local knowledge. The Age of Dinosaurs tour is amazing and is highly recommended.

          4 day Winton tour
We loved our time in Winton and highly recommend Red Dirt Tours to get the most out of a visit there. We had most time with tour guide Bec but also with Vicki and Hylton and they were all superb. The tours were well organised friendly relaxed fun and informative. Bec was so knowledgeable and if she couldn’t answer a question on the spot she’d come back with an answer later. 10/10 for passion and dedication.

Package of tours is a great way to explore the Winton area
I'd never been to Winton before, and after a few 1000s kms of driving, I was very glad to join a tour. This package was 4 nights' accommodation, with 3 full days of touring that combined some of Red Dirt's individual tours. It was a good balance of actual tours (Age of Dinosaurs, Lark Quarry, Sunset tour etc) plus a confortable amount of free time to wander the town or use the provided vouchers to visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre etc. Our guides were Vicki (proprietor) , Bec and Dana. They were all good drivers (the various vehicles were comfortable too). The other passengers were a lovely group. The guides were engaging, well informed (without being overbearing), cheerful and helpful. Red Dirt has good relationships with venues and landowners. It meant that we had good access to sites that are perhaps not generally available to individuals. Well done, Red Dirt - had a great time!

          Winton Explorer Package
We did the three day trip which was fantastic. Bec was our tour guide for the first day and a half. She shared her incredible knowledge of the flora, fauna, ancient landscape and geology. I have never had a more informative travel guide in all my travel both within Australia and overseas. She was witty and friendly and also very thoughtful of everyones needs. Our whole group absolutely loved her, we learned heaps. Also the landscape and views were amazing as well as the fascinating ancient history. Everyday was fabulous, we were well fed and well looked after. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

We had 2 tours with Red Dirt - the first was to the Dinosaur Stampede - very informative tour driver Peter, great catering, awesome day! Second tour was the Rangelands Rifts Sunset tour - Dana our guide was fabulous and the destination was amazing! We all loved it, lovely catering again. Highly recommend both experiences!

          An excellent tour from Winton
We took the 3/4 Carisbrooke and Lark Quarry tour from Winton. This was one of the best day tours I have ever taken, so glad I decided to let someone else do the driving! Our driver and tour guide Bec was simply amazing. She may have originally been a Sydneysider but she really knows the area extremely well and the whole tour was very very informative. As a result we learnt a lot about the local fauna and flora and generally the history of Winton. I have already recommended to one friend - who has already booked this tour. Would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone. Just do it , thank me later

What an experience! Bec our amazing guide picked us up from the camp ground with a big smile on her face and was so passionate about what she does. We went out to the dinosaur stampede which is a long drive however Bec was so knowledgeable about the local area, she made the trip amazing, spotting lots of local wildlife also! Really tasty morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea! We took our 4 kids aged between 9 and 11 and they had a great time!! Thank you so much! Highly recommended 👌🏻

          Dinosaurs & Sunset Tours
Both tours were amazing. The dinosaur tour was incredible and very educational and all the people, who have been involved with the museum etc, should be very proud of what they have given to the public to see, wonder at and enjoy. As for the sunset tour, what could be more enjoyable than walking through the Rift's on a Mesa and then watching a sunset with a glass of wine and lovely nibbles.

          Expert knowledge, stunning scenery
We had the pleasure of Dana as our guide, she was a wealth of knowledge in particular about native plants and animals. She gave a very thorough tour of Rangelands and the rifts. We then had a spectacular sunset which is the perfect backdrop for the delicious cheese platter and glass of wine provided. Divine!

Possibly the best tourist attraction in Australia. Excellent educative well organised informative interesting and fun.
Guides were knowledgeable, passionate and kept it fun and interesting. All staff were friendly, the whole process moved smoothly, it was never too congested, no waiting, all ran to time.
The buildings themselves were brilliantly designed to meld with the environment. The outdoor installations/sculptures scattered throughout the walk were so well designed and interesting.
So fascinating to see actual fossils and footprints dating back 95 million years! Absolutely jaw dropping.
Multiple photo opportunities including activities fir children.
Looking forward to the opening of the night sky observatory, will definitely make the effort to return especially for that.
This is a brilliant, must do activity, worth every single cent and more. Cannot praise this project enough. Thank goodness the station owner noticed that first bone and followed through and pushed this venture until Govts kicked in.
Well done to all involved including the volunteers.

We booked a morning tour and visited the “Fossil Preparation Lab” first, which was most interesting actually seeing volunteers preparing dinosaur remains for display and research. The “Collection Room” was our next stop where we saw the actual “Banjo & Matilda” remains. Absolutely fascinating! Our third stop was the “Dinosaur Canyon Tour” where we climbed aboard the Express Shuttle which took us out to the canyon where we walked through the four biodiversity areas. Once again this was most interesting. The morning was very well organised with all tours running to a time schedule which maintained the feel of not over-crowding. Our only regret was that we visited a week too early, as the other two large exhibits were planned to open in 5 days. We will return to see these as they looked amazing when we passed. Well worth a visit!!

Our Railway Adventures tour group enjoyed 2 trips with Red Dirt Tours. Dana took us to the Age of Dinosaurs Museum, providing informative commentary along the way. The next day Vicki took us to the Dinosaur Stampede while offering a detailed account of the area’s history and features. A huge bonus was a helicopter flight with Vicki’s husband Hilton, an experienced local pilot. Red Dirt Tours is a friendly, well-organised company which proudly showcases the Winton area. Highly recommended!

Thanks JWDB! It's such a wonderful scenic area that sadly not many people know about! It's our mission to improve that! And the scenic helicopter flight with Elite Aviation Services (Outback From Above) gives you such a different perspective on the landscape.

Spent 7 days with Vicki touring around Richmond, Hughenden, Charters Towers and Winton. The tours were extremely professional and I am still overawed by the depth and breadth of Vicki’s local knowledge. I can’t recommend her highly enough. You will have a wonderful time.

Hi tour operator and guide, Vicki the best tour guide we have met for a long time. Excellent communicator, interpersonal skills, and networking skills. Whilst driving Vicki gave us informal chats and info on Winton, surroundings and brief info on Dinosaur foot prints and how the the area first became famous for Dinosaurs. Because of floods recently, our road tours were cancelled. Vicki gave us option to have a helicopter trip with husband Hilton. I am frightened with heights but agreed to go for my husband's sake. Hilton was the best pilot, he did not do tricks in the air to frighten me etc. He was calm and professional. We had a fascinating trip to Dinosaur Stampede, because roads flooded ourselves and 1 other lady were the only ones at the Stampede. Hilton waited patiently while we had our tour and even a coffee with muffins before giving us a very scenic tour back to Winton.
When roads were passible Vicki did a special tour for 3 of us to see the Age of the Dinosaurs in her wonderful tour bus. Vicki even organised for us to detour to take suitcases to the air airport, AND she scheduled our tour to ensure we arrived at the Winton airport to catch the only flight out to Longreach for the next couple of days.

Thanks maws09! It was a tricky time with rain around but I'm just glad you got to see something while you were here! Hylton from Elite Aviation Services (Outback From Above) says he enjoyed the day too and is glad he could help out! It's a pretty spectacular countryside from above as well!

We had booked our tour a few weeks out due to Rona. The tour was excellent. We visited the Fossil and Lab room first where you see volunteers working on the fossils. You can stop and have a chat with any of them and they are more than happy to explain what they do. Our guide, Jackie was very informative on how they excavate and preserve the fossils. The next part of the tour is a cinematic experience and talk where you get to meet Banjo and Matilda! The final part of the tour is a ride out to the Dinosaur canyon where you see Dinosaur fossil footprints, then the new March of the Titanosaurs exhibition and a walk through the remaining exhibits. Every exhibit is extremely well presented and interesting.
Let your imagination run free and picture these Dinosaurs roaming this land 95 million years ago!
        You will not be disappointed.

Good value for money with three distinct tour section: dinosaur lab, collections and outdoor galleries. Really well done with professional and well informed guides. The landscape is amazing and lived walking through the scrub to the lab. Good mix of displays, touch specimens and access to information.

What an honour to be in the presents for a short visit of these old bones from bygone year. Fascinating experience, the guide gave us. She was very passionate & knowledgeable, giving us an insight in the world as it was in the world of the dinosaur. Most enjoyable, such an enlightening & great experience.
