- robbiemD7733BR0 contributionsAs Expansive as the HorizonsMy recent travels with Red Dirt Tours on the 6 day tour to experience the dinosaur trail was absolutely brilliant. The carefully selected itinerary, charming hotels and knowledgeable staff gave us the perfect opportunity to explore this region of stunning outback beauty and scientific marvels. Vicky took into account and made arrangements as needed for any special requirements required by members of the tour. Can’t say enough really - the experience was as expansive as the horizons. Thank you. RobbieWritten 15 October 2024
- Michael C0 contributionsWinton Area ExplorationWhen we booked our tour, we had some idea of what to expect, but I can honestly say that it exceeded our expectations. We were the only ones on the tour that day, and our driver / guide, Ange, was bright, attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. She made sure we were made to feel welcome, showed us sights we'd never had seen on our own, and was a wealth of information. There was plenty of good food and drinks during the day, and it wasn't rushed, so you had time to take in the countryside and appreciate the history of the area. A worthwhile experience made even better because Ange was such an excellent host. Highly recommended.Written 8 October 2024

Our tour guides were fabulous and full of information, pointing out points of interest and telling us about the history of the homeowners of the property that we travelling through. We learnt so much that we would not have known about if we drove out to the Dinosaur Stampede on our own, Loved every minute of the tour. Thanks Red Dirt Tours.Written 16 September 2024

- 435maryannes0 contributionsEntertaining and Educational.Had the most interesting time at the Age of Dinosaurs. We saw fossils, bones and dinosaur footprints, and found out how the experts learn from them. The replica dinosaurs were very life-like, great photo opportunity. Our guide, Jon, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. He answered all our questions and went over and above looking for my lost phone. Food was delicious too. Worth the trip to Winton.Written 13 September 2024

We took a Red Dirt Tour out to the Dinosaur Stampede and Merton Gorge and would highly recommend this tour company to others. The attention to guests to make sure we had a great day was appreciated, from a prompt pick up in a comfortable air-conditioned bus, to the interesting commentary during the trip, to the fresh and healthy lunch provided, the whole day was a highlight of our trip to outback Qld. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Lisa for such a great review and for recommending others to visit Winton.
It is a bit of a drive to get the Stampede so why not enjoy the journey there with a little bit of comfort and let Red Dirt Tours take care of the details whilst you sit back and relax.

I will start off with a thankyou - Luke our amazing Tour guide was amazing. He had what I call the perfect mix of Patience, engagement and a peaceful demeanour all the while being extremely knowledgeable about the region and it's history. We had a small group of 5 on our tour and we all felt like it was a highlight of each of our trips so far. Luke welcomes questions and answers them completely where he is able. The tour itself was fascinating. so much to learn about our amazing Country and it's Stories. The Dinosaur Stampede was a big surprise for me and I felt this was a great way to cap the tour along with the amazing scenery and stop points along the way. Be prepared for a big day. and let the Country speak to you through your Tour guide and the stories whilst you travel the many miles of red dirt and scenery. Even got the chance to fossick (and find) a few bits of Opal at the Fossicking stop. Good food provided and plenty of refreshment when needed. Again Thanks to Luke and Red dirt - Well worth the investment. Paul and Ruth.

From the promised on-time pick up at Winton Wanderers Van Park to our drop off at the same location, our group could not fault any aspects of our 3/4 day tour to Lark Quarry. Luke, our driver and guide, was informative and well organised. Morning tea on the mesa with great views, then lunch at the quarry. As the trip is 110 km each way, much of it on rough dirt road, it means that all participants can enjoy the views and experience. Naturally, the entry to the Dinosaur Stampede was included in the cost.

A wonderful, educational experience. We did the 3/4 day Dinosaur Stampede tour. The guide had an incredible knowledge of the area’s history, botany, zoology that kept us rapt throughout the hours spent on the tour. The lunch served was simple but delicious.

There was no "Favorite part of the day" the whole day was a wonderful experience. Vicki our guide and driver has an encyclopedic knowledge of the area, the fauna and flora. The Dinosaur Stampede has been improved dramatically since our last visit and is not to be missed.

What an experience! Bec our amazing guide picked us up from the camp ground with a big smile on her face and was so passionate about what she does. We went out to the dinosaur stampede which is a long drive however Bec was so knowledgeable about the local area, she made the trip amazing, spotting lots of local wildlife also! Really tasty morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea! We took our 4 kids aged between 9 and 11 and they had a great time!! Thank you so much! Highly recommended 👌🏻

Thank you! I'm glad you were able to sit back and relax with the kids. Although it's a long way we try to break it up with stops at our wonderful scenery and keeping a lookout for wildlife. Thank you for the recommendation!

Highly recommend this tour! Easy to book, the tour included hotel pick up and drop off which was nice. Bus was new to the company and very comfortable. Our driver and guide was Luke, he is a real credit to the company! So knowledgeable and interesting, he knew so much about the history of Winton, the geography, flora and fauna. Morning tea was served at the lookout on a private property, then the drive to the Dinosaur Stampede for lunch, lots of food and delicious. One of the best yours we have done anywhere, it cam recommended to us by friends. Do it, it's great!

This tour was great, Bec was an excellent guide, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area, totally happy to stop along to way to check out it the local wildlife, sometimes backtracking to get a good view
The bus is a big modern and comfortable 4x4 bus, carefully driven across the rugged terrain to a very modern facility housing the world’s only dinosaur stampede.
Jon, our guide while at the display, is very passionate about what the does and loves to share his knowledge on to topic before showing you the main event, over 3k dinosaur footprints which really makes you think and visualise the time these ancient beings were around
10/10 great tour, would recommend

We spent 2 days exploring the Winton area with Bec of Red Dirt Tours. The customised tours for the 8 of us allowed us to see as much as possible over the 2 days. The extremely knowledgeable Bec informed and entertained us with her lovely personality and incredible broad knowledge of Winton, dinosaurs, farming, botany, geology, entomology etc etc. there is nothing this girl doesn’t know!
Red dirt provided a very healthy fresh lunch, drinks and morning and afternoon teas.
We could have stayed longer in Winton as there is so much to see and we could have listened and learnt from Bec forever. Thanks for an amazing 2 days.

Loved this tour! Peter our guide was a veritable renaissance man - knowledgeable about geology, history (First Nations and Western), flora and fauna, and importantly - fossils and dinosaurs!
The Merton Gorge is stunning and provides a great illustration of the geological forces at work in the region.
The dinosaur stampede exhibition is mesmerising.
Finally, the food was fantastic- healthy and filling.
