A beautiful day that got better and better
You know those magical days when everything starts well and then gets better and better? That was our day out with Meryl from Boobook tours, exploring hidden pockets of the Carnarvon Ranges. Our early morning pick up was made warm by Meryl’s friendly greetings, helping the small group feel comfortable with one another and getting to know local stories even before we had left Roma’s outskirts. All through the day we were introduced to the animals, plants, cultural sights and breathtaking views of this beautiful pocket of the Carnarvon Range. Meryl’s expertise was shared with lots of laughter and sensitivity. By the end of the day even I could tell the difference between a whip tail and red neck wallaby. The walks were short, the food was fresh and catered for our dietary requirements. The day could not have been better. This is a wonderful trip for newcomers to the Australian bush or for people who have lived not too far away for all their lives. And all in one day! This was the highlight of our western Queensland road trip.

Fantastic tour company and amazing experience
Meryl from Boobook Explore took our group on the Lost World Carnarvon (Wallaroo) Day Tour. All I can say is - WOW ! What an amazing day we all had. Meryl is a fantastic guide. So knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Our group learnt so much on our tour and it was just fascinating seeing the diversity of Wallaroo. The natural landscape, flora, fauna and Aboriginal history on the property just blew us all away. The Boobook bus was comfortable and clean, and the morning tea and lunch provided was just fantastic. I would 100% recommend booking a tour with Boobook and I look forward to having the opportunity to tour with them again.

Amazing day with very knowledgeable guides, Meryl and Anne!! Great to see the wildlife and the Indigenous cave art of Wallaroo Station and such vast landscapes. Stories of how the land came to be settled. Overall a very enjoyable day.

        Outstanding day trip around Wallaroo.
We saw some fantastic scenery on this day trip around Wallaroo. Our guide Meryl was very knowledgeable and we learnt so much about the local flora and fauna, and the cattle property as well. The sights were fabulous and varied and full of lovely surprises. We saw quite alot of rock art as well. The morning tea and lunch was delicious and very generous. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

Lost Worlds of Carnarvon Tour - highly recommended
We had a truly memorable day on the Lost Worlds of Carnarvon Tour last week, which provided unique insights into the history of Wallaroo station and the Carnarvon ranges. Craig was a wonderful host and tour guide with great local knowledge and expertise. We were amazed by the beauty and range of stunning sites visited over the day and felt privileged to have been part of it. We fully recommend the tour 5/5, and plan to revisit.

Wallaroo Day Tour - Absolutely Incredible!
Our day trip to Wallaroo was incredible! Meryl picked us up from our front gate in the morning, guided us in a new air conditioned bus for a 12 hour day to numerous sites, treating us to a picnic morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea catered by one of the local cafe’s. We had a small group so we were lucky enough to be able to ask all the questions in the world and have them answered promptly! Meryl from Boobook and the staff at Wallaroo Retreat were lovely. Although we didn’t get to stay at the retreat, we will definitely be booking in the coming 12 months for a getaway. The grounds were immaculate and each glamping tent was neat and tidy but still nice and open, surrounded by the 72,000 acre station. Would highly recommend Boobook for your next tour in and around Roma!

        Lasting impressions of Carnarvon Ranges
my intended destination Carnarvon Gorge was closed due to bushfires, so I decided to book the "Discover Carnarvon Ranges" day tour with Boobook. What an impressive experience this turned out to be: traversing this spectacular private property from riverbeds to rockwalls and gullies, all in great comfort of a purpose built 4WD vehicle. Meryl was a considerate driver and guide whose knowledge and love of this country is impressive. I have to mention the delicious food: morning tea and lunch prepared individually to order, and a cold glass of wine served at the last lookout!

        Outstanding tour
Outstanding tour, very informative and excellent way to spend a day, could not fault any part and the catering was brilliant. Meryl and her crew go above and beyond, if you want a small tour to show you the hidden gems of the Carnarvon ranges do yourself a favour and book as soon as you can! I am sure the other tours offered, would be at the same high standard and will be booking myself on more experiences with Boobook

A working cattle property in a landscape of stunning rock formations and Indigenous rock art.
[Note for clarity: This particular one-day tour visited Wallaroo Station and Outback Retreat, a private property in the Carnarvon Ranges area. It did not include the Carnarvon Ranges National Park.] Boobook's Meryl was our very capable driver, ecologist and guide. She provided a broad, respectful, and well-informed commentary. After an introductory walk to rock overhangs and an Aboriginal axe factory around the Dawson River, we enjoyed a huge morning tea of coffee / tea / juice, fresh scones (with jam & cream) and fresh-cut fruit. Each stop presented amazing sandstone columns and arches, a geological story, and extraordinary examples of Aboriginal rock art. It was a privilege to be there. In among a forest of cycads, we had a generous serving of (pre-ordered) sandwiches. Views over the Arcadia Valley revealed the immensity of this landscape. The tour also showed Wallaroo as a working cattle property. Meryl has an in-depth knowledge of productive farming practices, that also aim to preserve and co-exist with native flora and fauna. The tour exceeded my expectations. There are certainly less expensive day tours around, but this 11-hour journey was the best value I've seen. It was a day of beauty and learning and good company. Thanks, Boobook!

        Great experience all round
We had a wonderful time on this whole day tour of the Wallaroo property. Fantastic examples of Aboriginal art that you would never be able to find otherwise, really interesting information about the history of farming in the area and current practices, lots of great insights into the flora and fauna, plus morning tea, lunch and a cheeky drink to finish. Highly recommend this experience to really understand and appreciate the land you are on.

        Great opportunity
This tour was a very pleasant day exploring interesting places in the State Forest Park. It was very informative and the guide was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. I would definitely take the opportunity to attend other tours like this one.

Not many wildflowers around, but Rose was able to find plenty for me to take photos. She was excellent at finding them and then explaining all about them.
