Bruce Belcher’s Daintree River Cruises offer a one-hour wild life cruise. We are enthusiastic, honest, exciting and informative. We are keen bird watchers and have a good eye for crocodiles and tree snakes, with crocodiles being spotted on 98% of trips, particularly in cooler months. We don't provide Daintree bird watching tours however the native bird life in the Daintree is abundant.

      Go fast, see crocs
These guys are organised and know what they're doing. If you want to see crocs, this is the tour to book as they go further up the river than the others to find crocs you won't see on other boats (if you see any at all!).

      Daintree River Cruise
Was a really great outing on the river. I mistakenly thought I was going to see a lot of birds, was totally unaware that it was primarily a croc spotting tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about the river and surrounds. Whilst we were told that it was unlikely we would see a croc due to the extreme heat, we were lucky enough to see a female guarding hr nest. I even got some bird spotting in. Great morning on the river 😀

      Croc was sited☺️
This cruise is good if you get to see a croc, we saw the head of one, thanks to my son. It is getting out of the season to site them. Otherwise it's a nice little trip down the Daintree but there is no guarantee you will see a croc when it warms up. Go in winter. Our guide was very informative

      Nice cruise on the river
Unfortunately we only caught a glimpse of the back of one crocodile on the river bank, and didn't see any others, but that's just the luck of the day. Apart from that, the guy that ran the tour was nice, and informative, and it was a relaxing cruise up the river, and enjoyed the last bit along the mangroves.

      Crocodile sightings
Didn’t see a croc, were told that this time of the year they are mating. And the tide was high Should be told this when booking that sighting of crocs is rare this time of the year.Guide was very interesting

      Wonderful experience
Bruce was knowledgeable and informative, ensuring we all had ample opportunity to film and photograph the crocs we got to see. Really lovely guy and excellent value for money, we will be back with friends.

Great experience from start to finish
My wife and I went on the river cruise and had a great time. All of the Bruce Belcher staff were friendly and the trip down the Daintree river spotting crocodiles and other wildlife was informative and fun. Even though we went at a time when it is more than difficult to spot crocodiles the cruise captain went over and above to ensure we had a few sightings. Add to this the trip is great value, and if you go at midday they even give you lunch, this has to be one of the best value trips you can do while visiting the area.

Informative trip on the Daintree River
Enjoyed seeing the crocodiles in their native habitat, and the tour guide's stories about them. We saw a 60 year old croc, females, and young ones.

      Disappointed & Bruce should retire
Bruce showed us one crocodile but luckily other people onboard found three more crocodiles NOT logodiles as Bruce proclaimed. We were astonished that he let children stand on the bow deck whilst travelling along which has a gap in the front railing. He then hit a submerged object throwing the children to the ground and then reversed hard nearly sending them off the boat. THEN he allowed the children to remain up there and shortly thereafter hit ANOTHER submerged object throwing us about again. Considering there are crocodiles in the water we felt this was unsafe practice.

      Unforgettable encounter!
Such an excellent and value for money cruise. Our boat driver decided to head upstream, away from the other boats. Within 15 mins, we had an unforgettable encounter, with two of the largest crocs in the river fighting over territory - crocs hung around the boat the whole time. Cruising back to shore, we saw another smaller female. Thank you so so much!

Before leaving Melbourne, I was advised I HAD to go on Bruce's Crocodile tour up the Daintree (mind you, it was a cousin of his who told me about it!) The heavens opened about an hour before we got on the boat, but as soon as we placed our arses on the seat, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and we had the most fantastic tour of the exquisite river, with a great display of crocs, kingfishers, tree snakes, and herons displaying their frog catching abilities, with Bruce's son (forgive me for forgetting his name) as an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. He had eyes like a hawk, able to see the tiniest birds from 50 metres, while we struggled to see them from about 5 metres :-( I would highly recommend this trip for ANY age group. Oh, and Shazza at the shop was brilliant with a great selection of souvenirs at very reasonable prices!!! We will be back ;-)

Thank you for sharing your positive review. It sounds like you had an absolutely amazing experience up here in Daintree! Despite the initial rain, it seems like the weather cooperated just in time for your adventure. So wonderful to read that you saw not only crocs but other wildlife as well. It's always a plus when your guide is not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the environment and its inhabitants. Griff (Bruce’s son), with his expertise and keen eyesight must have made the journey even more memorable, allowing you to spot those tiny birds from a distance. It's great to hear that Shazza at the souvenir shop added to the positive experience with her excellent service. Thank you for choosing Bruce Belchers for your wildlife cruise. Safe travels, and may your future visits to the Daintree be just as incredible!

Bruce is a legend. This part of the Daintree River he took us on was absolutely stunning, highly recommend doing the 4pm last cruise of the day as the setting sun across the water + mangroves, and the bird life was incredible. We spotted a baby croc + a 2.5m croc feeding… for us this tour wasn’t all about seeing crocs, it was the wilderness + being in the river… if you want definite croc sightings go to a zoo! This tour is all about being in nature - appreciating our natural world. Thank you Bruce + team, you were all amazing x

We had the most amazing and relaxing cruise - this was the first time my sister who has lived in Mossman all her life had been on a cruise. Even though this is not the peak season we got to see three crocodiles, two adults and one juvenile. Brad, our guide, was very obliging and ensured we got as close to the wildlife as possible. We also spotted a great-billed heron which bird watchers from all over the world come to see, lots of bats, as well as a male and female shining flycatcher. The absolute highlight of the cruise was seeing the azure kingfisher and thanks to Brad getting the boat so close I was able to capture amazing photos. It was wonderful to meet Bruce when we arrived back at the wharf. Everyone looked after us. A special mention to Bruce's lovely wife Zona as when she found out I had booked online and had paid full price ensured I received the locals rate and refunded the difference. I enjoyed spending some of this money in the well-stocked gift shop. We especially enjoyed the refreshments afterwards at this beautiful location. My sister and I loved every minute of this cruise and look forward to returning during the winter months for more bird and croc spotting!

Firstly, can I say dont waste your money going to Hartley’s, seeing Crocodiles in their natural habitat is a once in a life time experience.

We had the man himself, Bruce, who gave an entertaining yet informative narrative on crocodiles and the Daintree. We were privileged to see about 5 crocodiles, some swimming and two babies which were basking in the sunshine on a tree branch. The staff are friendly and the tour was exceptionally well organised. The boats make minimal noise and there are several running at the one time. We had a boat with 17 people (including babies and toddlers) , everyone got their individual seats. The configuration is two, then isle, then another two.

Bathroom and cafe facilities were exceptionally clean. There is plenty of parking should you hire a car and drive there. We liked the fact that it was just 5 minutes drive away from the hustle and bustle of the ferry which takes you to Cape Tribulation.

We did a 9.30am tour, then went straight to the ferry wharf. Had to wait about 20 minutes to get onto the ferry to Cape Trib.

Bruce Belcher’s Daintree River Cruises are the best on the river having been coming to Port Douglas for many years and tried a few. My wife and I always enjoy and their skippers knowledge is great. Early morning if you can.

The chances of spotting any crocodiles on a scorching January day with a king tide were slim, but Ray went above and beyond, and we were fortunate to see two nesting females. Ray was an excellent tour guide, sharing hilarious stories about his crocodile encounters and life along the Daintree River. Highly recommend!

Our trip on the Bruce Belcher's River Cruise was the best boat cruise ever. The driver of the cruise was very informative of the surroundings and the croc spotting was great. Highly recommend Bruce Belcher's Daintree River Cruisers to anyone visiting this part of the Douglas Shire region.

We booked it in the last minute because we weren't sure of what to do in the area and it was nice. A calm journey through the river looking at the birds and the plants. We were lucky enough to also see a crocodile (Scarface) since during this period of the year it gets harder to see them (since the water is hot, they don't need to go out to warm themselves). If your objective in taking this tour is to see crocodiles, be aware of the season to be sure that it is a good season to actually see them.
It was clear that the guide tried using his knowledge to take us to places where we could see crocodiles and give us the best experience. He answered all our questions, and gave us interesting information during the whole trip.

What a ripper of a day with Bruce Belcher's Daintree River Cruises! Our boat driver and tour guide was not just a skilled captain but also a stand-up comedian-who knew wildlife tours could come with a side of laughs? His adorable dog was the real star, though. I mean, who can resist a furry co-pilot?
We spotted seven crocs (yes, seven!), a few snakes (thankfully not on the boat), and a chorus of birds putting on a show. The highlight? A cold beer and a tasty snack while cruising through paradise. If you're looking for a fun-filled day with some hilarious stories and a bit of wildlife action, this is the tour for you.
Can't wait to do it J n! Cheers!

I am a returning customer and have found this tour the best in terms of value for money, great knowledge of the area and extremely welcoming hospitality. Considering the amount of people who pass through daily, staff were very helpful and accommodating.
We were not bombarded with the guide overdoing the information. He pointed out things when necessary and answered all questions with great local knowledge.
