One hour cruises depart regularly from both Daintree Village as well as from Daintree Gateway which is located 200 meters before Daintree River Ferry Crossing. This gives visitors the best opportunities to see wildlife and the diversity of this amazing eco system. From rainforest to mangroves the scenery is spectacular. The Upper Daintree section from Daintree Village is especially popular for bird watching and departures from near the Daintree River Ferry Crossing (Daintree Gateway) offers spectacular views of Thornton Peak, rainforest and mangroves. Please note your first cruise will depart from Daintree Village, Check-in is at Daintree Tourist Information Centre located in Daintree Village. Times listed above are from Daintree Village Only. All extra bonus cruises can depart from either Daintree Village or from near Daintree Ferry river crossing. Look for the big Croc Head Kiosk. Cruise times available from near the ferry will be advised on check-in in the village.

      Croc cruising
This was an enjoyable cruise not only enjoying the Daintree Rainforest but also seeing crocs basking in the sun and a croc even entering the water and swimming not far from our cruise boat. The boat operator was helpful and provided us with interesting information. I recommend this cruise

      Disappointed
Did not meet my expectations created by the ads and advice we got upfront. One hour river cruise and we only spotted one bird and one small juvenile crocodile, nothing else. And this was at low tide when we were told that this should be a preferred time. Nice if you are interested in mangroves and of course wild animals don’t care for tour schedules but I was disappointed and expected more from such must-do-tour.

      Lovely River Cruise
Jan was a wonderful guide. The river cruise was lovely. He tried very hard to locate a crocodile, but they did not cooperate. It really didn’t matter as his narration of the native flora was fascinating. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

      Great family experience
Great experience. Enjoyed dealing with this company and was surprised to find out we got a 2nd ride free on their other cruise. Make sure you try around a lower tide we saw a few good crocs.

      Awesome experience
My family had a wonderful time on the river cruise. We saw lots of crocodiles, birds and amazing scenery. The skipper was knowledgeable and gave us tons of information as well as answering all our questions. The boat was in good condition and comfortable, and we were able to move around as we liked. Although we were pretty close to crocodiles, we felt safe. I recommend this tour without any hesitation.

      Excellent tour
Took an hour tour. We were warned that this time of year may not be the best to see the larger crocodiles. We did, but it was amazing regardless. The guide - Marc - was a wealth of knowledge. His lieutenant - Peppa - put us all at ease. Appreciated the solar-powered boat - made it quieter and cleaner. Highly recommend.

      Crocs galore!
Our guide, Graham, was very knowledgeable and funny to boot. Not just about crocs, but birds and wildlife in general. Saw the resident alpha male who is 4 plus metres long. No, I am not posting pics. Take the drive and come and see for yourself. They do a really good deal on croc cruises all up and down the river. The crew were all very accommodating and even gave another couple we spent time with, a bonus cruise when they failed to see a croc on their first one. That is service!

      Good option for croc spotting
Easy to book, easy to locate and easy to board the boat. Everything else is up to the crocs. We were lucky enough to spot a few on our tour, although the scenery is lovely should you not. The driver was also very knowledgable and knew all the best places to go looking.

      Croc sighting
We had a brilliant time on the river. We saw many crocs. The guide was very knowledgeable and extremely respectful of the crocs and our surroundings. Well worth the few dollars it cost and definitely something we will do again next year

      Educational
We embarked on both tours and even though it was a drizzly day and the dainties was in a moderate flood, we saw “barra” the 4+ metre crock in the fresh water section of the daintree. Afterwards we were fortune to see several crocodiles in the salt water section of the river, including mum and her si. Babies hatched in March, several other crocs ranging from 2 to 20 years, pythons and kingfishers. The tour guides provided us with lots of info on the area, flora and fauna. They were also very helpful for us that are not so steady on our feet.

So angry and disappointed with the service provided by this company today. Booked and paid online yesterday. 4 tickets to cruise today. Received not one, but two emails confirming booking (one was actually received at 8am this morning). Emails confirmed pick up location at The Daintree Gateway. When we arrived at the exact location and in plenty of time there was no one there! We called company and was advised that they do not operate from chosen departure point on weekends!!! Requested a refund…. Awaiting reimbursement. Thankfully an alternative Croc Cruise “Solar Eclipse” at the same location with staff in attendance were extremely accommodating and saved the day. Save yourself the disappointment and bad customer experience and give your hard earned holiday money to Solar Eclipse instead! We heard that Crocodile Express apparently do this to their customers on a regular basis 👎🏻. Nowhere in their leaflet or on website do they inform you that they do not operate from this location at weekends! 😡

Dear Keysoutnabout, Please accept our apologies for the less than satisfactory experience with your booking but very happy you were still able to enjoy a Daintree River Cruise Experience with a fellow operator. As discussed on the phone with you, your refund was processed as requested. I also understand the team were apologetic and provided a solution of our second location at the Daintree Village for a Daintree River Cruise, of which you declined by not arriving. We have reviewed the website booking form to ensure it has the days of operation for the Daintree Gateway, which it does Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Given the current unstable tourism climate we are not able to update all of the flyers that are currently out there in circulation. It is upsetting to read that heard we do this to our customers on a regular basis, as that is incorrect, this incident is the first of its kind. I have emailed you as well to ensure the communication is consistent. Thank you Keysoutandabout, Rena Scott General Manager

We were really glad that we chose to drive here and did both river cruises.
Great to learn about the Daintree and wonderful to see crocodiles, large and small.
The legendary scar face was at his best, we even saw a 2-3month old crocodile trying to use a log to make itself look bigger.
All very cool and easy to see.
We were lucky it wasn’t crowded, but also hope the crowds return.
Say hello to Sally at the van park, check out some cool vintage machines and have an Australian made and owned coffee or hot chocolate.
Where the bl@&dy hell are you!?!

Do not do this cruise at this time of year if you want to see Crocodiles. The cruise will end up being a drawn out process that consists of laminated pictures of crocs and a disinterested monotone tour guide. The river is beautiful, however, I do not believe it should be called crocodile express. I do understand it is nature and the outcome can sometimes not be controlled. This should be stated before purchase or stop running tours when there is no chance of seeing a crocodile.

The guide, Bill was so knowledgeable and great at sharing his stories about locality, history, the river, rainforest, local characters, climate, flora, and particularly the local crocodiles,. So many times we got up close, (and not personal) with many crocodiles including Barratt, a big 80 year old male who "owns" this section of the Daintree River. Just amazing experience. Bill showed a great respect for these ancient creatures, and it appeared to be mutual. They knew they were safe, and as highlighted, the mutual respect was quite rightly not compromised by food coming into this fantastic nature experience.
We can understand why this company has operated for over 40 years. They know their business and respect mother nature and all of her complexities and magnificence. Thanks from the Petes

This trip was not something that we had planned on but decided while we were there in Croc Country we may as well go on it. We were so happy that we did as it was absolutely brilliant. This was mainly due to the amazing guide John that we had. Not only did he look like Billy Conolly he also had his wonderful sense of humour. He had been doing this job for many years which was hard to believe considering the passion and enthusiasm with which he imparted so many fascinating facts about crocodiles. He obviously had a real love and respect for these totally fascinating creatures who had roamed around for millions of years. We also had another guide for our second tour (an ex Gympie resident) whose name escapes me but he was also a real credit to the company too. Overall all the staff were really friendly apart from the woman who sold us the tickets at Daintree Village.

Rick was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Saw some incredible sights of the Daintree River. The croc sightings were great as well. Rick kindly took us to different areas of the river which added 30 mins to our 1 hour river cruise, Thanks Rick for a tremendous 90 mins. I would throughly recommend the Crocodile Express for an exciting 1 hour on the beautiful Daintree River.

The best aspect of this cruise was the top quality of the skipper/tour guide Justin. His vast knowledge and great presentation made it fun and informative. We saw several crocs, baby crocs and many hard to spot birds. Thanks Justin. Owen

Loved being out on the magnificent Daintree River and experiencing it through the eyes of our guide Justin who is just so passionate about the area. The boat is covered so you have no worries about the weather and we were lucky to only have 6 people on our tour so there was plenty of room to move about and take photos. Unfortunately we only had one croc sighting but we got to see other different wildlife from the area as well as enjoy the beautiful scenery and plant life. You can't beat being out on the water.....so relaxing.

My partner found this tour and i’m so so so glad we chose this out of the other options. 2x 1hour tours for $30, saw at least 20 crocodiles over the two tours, including some babies! The tour guides are so knowledgeable and engaging. I was amazed with how close we were able to get to these massive wild crocs!! They are used to the sound of the boats motor so that allows you to get way closer than other tours. We saw another boat approach one of the crocs we were watching and it dashed into the water, after us sitting a few metres from it for ages! $30 so so we’ll spent! The complimentary tea and coffee is also very appreciated:) Thank you so much guys!
