- frangipani17220 contributionsAbsolutely fabulous walking tour!Highly recommend this walking history tour of Daylesford. Both guides were fantastic. Really well thought out tour and whilst Daylesford is hilly there were plenty of rest stops along the way. The balance of information was perfect. The tour guides are highly respectful to the local Aboriginal people and shared some fascinating stories. I would happily do this tour again.Written 27 September 2019

A truly wonderful and must do walking tour.
Daisy is extremely knowledgeable, kind and has a deep passion for sharing all that beautiful Daylesford has to offer.
The weather was very warm but there were plenty of shady spots and beautiful heritage listed buildings to enter. Daisy is the keymaster with a set of keys to explore the most wonderful buildings around the town.
Daylesford is a splendid town to visit and this walking tour explored over 200 years of history that shaped the town in what it is today.

We decided to learn a little more about the history of our own town and booked a walking tour this weekend with Alice's Walk Tour and it was fantastic. Lynda our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, I think I could have listened to her historical tales of Daylesford all day.
The tour was extremely informative and told the story of Dja Dja Wurrung people, the town's gold rush years through to it's philanthropy figures and colourful characters who put their stamp on this town. I'd highly recommend this fascinating tour and if nothing else you'll learn why, even to this very day, trucks don't drive through Vincent Street - surprisingly I had no idea why.

Our Alice's Journeys tour was the stand out of our day in Daylesford. Acknowledging the First Nation's people and the 70,000 years of history before settlement, our tour guide, Lynda, ties that history to both gold rush Daylesford and Dylesford today in a unique combination of fact, anecdote and her own ties to Victoria's Golden Triangle. In a very clever narrative Daylesford's past is excavated from the scene in front of us in the present. The stand-outs for me were the personal anecdotes of both historical figures and those of our guide as well as the clever thread of gold that ran through every aspect of the tour--geography, architecture, public buildings and public works and the people who helped to shape what is now Daylesford. I want to do another tour and there are other themes, like women of the gold fields. I will do this. I really appreciated the Covid protocols observed by our tour leader. Hand sanitizer offered, masks of course and props that were not passed around. And a very carefully mapped out course that avoided the busy main street.

Linda was a wonderful guide and provided a relaxed and informative tour of beautiful Daylesford. There is so much history to explore and Linda makes it come alive with stories of the buildings, local characters and the influence of the gold rush! The highlight for me was entry to the churches and courthouse to appreciate the stunning architecture. Highly recommended!

What an enjoyable, comprehensive and exciting walking tour. Our guide Daisy was friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the area. We got to see inside a bunch of buildings and had some things pointed out that we wouldn’t have discovered without doing the tour.
Highly recommended and a great way to centre yourself in the town and ignite other adventures in the region!

We did Swiss Italian Camino Hepburn Springs with Daisy as our guide. I found it extremely interesting as I have a northern Italian background. Daisy gave us a great insight into the history of the early Swiss Italian settlers. I would recommend this tour.

Spent one and half hours with the delightful Lynda walking the streets of Daylesford learning about modern Daylesford as well as the history ,significant buildings and fascinating local people of times gone by We also got a free pass to the museum and were able to enter some of the historic buildings as well as gave us tips on what else to visit Lynda was a wealth of knowledge and had so many interesting stories. We would have been happy to walk twice as long to keep hearing her stories and learn more about Daylesford’s history and it’s people of this fascinating beautiful place.
Thanks Lynda for a very enjoyable morning tour.

Having done many walking tours of towns around the world, my husband and I finally did Alice’s Journeys Walking tour of our own hometown in Daylesford. What a gem this tour is to visitor’s and local’s alike, with the perfect guide in Lynda. It is not possible to completely explore a place without a walking tour such as this. Lynda who has a great knowledge of the history of the town and surrounding areas, is an engaging & passionate storytelling and captured an insight into historical times. We are blessed to have such a walking tour in our town to showcase our rich heritage. Thank you so much, we have fallen in love with our hometown all over again.

Just have to recommend this wonderful tour! I didn't think I'd be greatly interested in the history of Daylesford but I was so wrong. Alices Journeys was a real highlight of my trip. Our guides not only knew the gold rush history but also the deeper, older connections to country that placed white history in context.
What I found most interesting was way our guide wove together the distant past, more recent past, the present together with her own personal history, giving such a personal connection to the experiences she shared. She made it all so relevant and alive.
I loved it and although I thought I had a good understanding of the Gold Rush (I've read Phryne Fisher) I had no idea how it still impacts the town and surrounding areas today. Utterly fascinating.
I highly recommend this tour, even if you think you know the history. A true joy and highlight of our trip!
