Go. Just Go. Its a one off winner of an experience.
What a day! A unique experience that has something for everyone. History, wildlife, relaxation, active adventures. Great food and stunning scenery. We took the first ferry over, rented e-bikes, and enjoyed a full day of snorkelling, touring, swimming, eating, learning and bonding.

Being prepared is essential for the visit.
My partner and I were amazed with the beauty of Rottnest Island. I want to mention a few things that will better prepare anyone for the visit. 1-Use the Hop on Hop off bus to get around to the beaches and points of interest. Worth the cost of A$38 each. 2-Take sunscreen- the full day is in the sun with little to no shelter. 3-There are no changing rooms along the beaches. If you plan to swim or sunbathe be sure to change prior to getting on the bus. 4-Take food and water if you plan to be out for the day. There is nowhere to buy these once you get in the bus for the beaches. 5-There are bikes to rent, but, unless you’re regularly on a bike, be prepared to have tight squeezes when buses pass. We saw several people have bike accidents. There’s no first aid on the road. 6-Be sure to get off the bus at the scheduled stops. Towards the end of the route right AFTER the lighthouse stop is a point that is FANTASTIC. There is no beach so not many get off the bus to go look. This view is worth the whole trip. The coast at its best. Rottnest is beautiful but be prepared before you go.

A wonderful day trip biking around Rottnest Island
The Sealink ferry is very efficient and the boat was comfortable. We rented bikes from them which made it so easy - we got off the boat and they handed us the bikes. I do wish there was a basket as we brought our own snorkeling gear and had to put it on handle bar which was not so convenient. The bikes were good quality and they gave us helmets. The biking around the island is great. The beaches are beautiful but the water was frigid (this from an American who loves the Caribbean). A local told us that this was the warmest they get (oh my). As we took the snorkel gear, I made my husband go with me - we only did 1 beach for about 10 minutes and then gave up as it was just too cold for us. It was a beautiful day for biking though. We wandered around the island to the lighthouse, to various lookouts and really enjoyed the day.

      Comfortable and informative trip
Our Sealink trip was very good. Easy boarding, polite staff, clean vessel and informative commentary. Nice sitting on the upper deck to appreciate the views of the Swan River. Would certainly recommend

      Great staff
Terrific staff and really impressed with the whole service. We arrived in time to catch the earlier ferry and literally jumped on and headed over to Rottnest Island. So easy and really comfortable

      Not great customer service
The website says one price (for 4pm return, 7am start) but doesn’t work and the phone team don’t honour it = false advertising and I was told I was wrong despite screenshots. Female phone team pretty sassy and managed to get my email wrong without confirming, the result was a charge and no ticket. On the day I had to run around because I wasn’t emailed a ticket and at the office I was printed a ticket and told I would now get them emailed- instead I got two welcome to Rottnest maps and no tickets. Overall pretty poor customer service.

      A great day out
Sealink make it easy to get to and from Rottnest Island. I appreciated the fact that you could not only book your ferry tickets, but even bike hire which was easily collected and dropped off again at Main Jetty on Rottnest Island. The commentary on the way from Barrack Street Jetty to the Island was informative, and the journey itself was scenic.

      Great first trip
I had an excellent time at Rottnest on my first visit. I enjoyed the food on offer. The cycling experience was great. The island has a good vibe and is clean. Also nice to see the Quokkas; they are very friendly.

This company is absolutely terrible I don’t like leaving bad reviews because I’m not usually a Karen but this is crazy. They wouldn’t let my son ride the segways “because he has autism and might damage the Segway” absolutely crazy for a company to say this! So ok that’s fine if they want to be like that we will have a refund and leave. They wouldn’t give us our money back! We were shocked. We found the police on the island and told them we’ve basically been robbed of $300 and can they help us. They said no it’s a civil matter with the company and police can’t get involved. I bet if we stole a Segway they would get involved. Again I hate to be a Karen but I had to say something and tell people this company sucks!

The Segway tour was the highlight of the trip! My guide Justin was not only great at teaching the ropes of how to use a Segway, but also a fountain of knowledge about quokkas and Rottnest island and gave it a truly local flavour.
This is a great way to see a bit of the island without having to hike up and down, and is also a great amount of fun! Make sure you book in advance if possible to avoid disappointment.
I went on a rainy day and it was still a really enjoyable activity (with a raincoat!) so don’t let the rain deter you from booking in. I was also the only participant which was super fun as we could see a few extra things, so if you’re a solo traveller this is definitely something to add to the bucket list.
So much fun I’ve booked another tour in a couple days with Segway Tours WA - thanks for a great experience Justin and team!

The inclusion of the ferry to and from was great, although it was slightly confusing booking through TripAdvisor as the messages I received from the tour company formatted oddly with 90% as hyperlinks making it hard to read the details about where to meet (Jetty 3), but once I arrived it was easy to get the QR code tickets needed.
